This short travelogue from the Jean Desmet collection at the Eye Instititue just played online from the Kennington Bioscope - it should still be up on their YouTube site - and I am impressed by it. It alternates sweeping vistas with gardens, dramatic cliffs with marketplaces, with a restlessly panning camera ..... a collaboration between cameraman and editor that produces the best sort of travelogue.
The date of the film means there is no narrator, just a series of title cards. They don't overwhelm you, but merely tell you what, precisely, you are looking out when there might be some doubt. Now that's the way to do a travel film!
