- Eve is trying to patch things up with Niko; Villanelle receives good news about her upcoming promotion but can't shake the feeling there's still something missing from her life; Dasha seeks a solution to Villanelle's erratic behavior.
- Niko gets out of a pickup truck he is driving on a dirt road in the hills and takes a happy selfie. Two kids ride by on their bikes and say hello in Polish.
He drives through a small, friendly town and stops to deliver a tray of bread to an older woman. He says it's just a temporary job but she says she always knew he'd come home.
In a crowded, raucous bar, he watches soccer on an old TV with a bunch of men and smiles at the woman bartender. Eve has texted him, "So you're saying this is it?"
Eve jolts awake in a sleeping bag on a couch in the Bitter Pill offices. She has a bruise between her left eye, eyebrow, and nose. In the bathroom, she sniffs her clothes. Niko has texted that he's willing to talk.
Eve goes to Bear's desk and eats his Coco Pops out of the box at his desk. Bear says with Kruger dead, they're back to square one. They review recent kills. Audrey brings a box for Eve to sign for. It's from Dunn's Baker and Confectioner. Eve carries the box to the roof and cautiously opens it there, revealing a red bus, possibly a cake, with "Happy Birthday Eve" written on it. In a sudden fit of rage she throws it off the roof to the parking lot below, but then gasps and whimpers. Jamie appears on the roof and says he can't have her sleeping in the office.
Jaime lets her use his kids' room at his house. Later, he's watching TV in the living room and she's using her phone. He asks her whether she likes having fun. She says she doesn't know whether she can any more. He challenges her to taking turns talking about bad things they've done. After joking a bit, she says she was unfaithful to her husband. They go back and forth. He says don't ever think you are the only self-loathing one in the room. He says it's all about choices, and they clink beer bottles.
In the children's bed, she asks a teddy bear what it wants from her. Niko has sent her his happy selfie. She smiles.
Bear shows Eve the 1974 victim from a previous episode, with the seemingly dead athlete covered in chalk. Eve says Villanelle's recent killing was clearly a copycat. Eve tells Bear and Jamie that whoever the original killer was might lead them to the Twelve, but she gets a text from Niko and says she has to go, telling Jamie, "It's all about choices."
Poland: The place where Niko delivered the bread. Eve smiles and calls out to Niko, who slowly raises his arm and waves.
Moscow: Konstantin is driving through city traffic. He watches his daughter Irina get out of a man's car and go into a school. Inside, he gets her to reluctantly leave with him. He asks her about her mother's new boyfriend. She asks Konstantin whether she can stay with him tonight, but he says he has to be back in England. She says his work for the FSB and helping MI6 will just get him killed. She wants him to have a plan. He says he has one, but she scoffs and walks off.
He visits the home of a very nervous, shaking woman. She says the day Charles was killed, he told her that he'd worked out who took the money, and if anything happened to him, she was to forward a certain email to an address she didn't recognize, but she never sent it. Konstantin says to send it to him and get to someplace safe.
Barcelona: Konstantin is in a shopping area. He gets a call from Irina but doesn't take it. He comes up behind Villanelle and startles her.
Villanelle is in an apartment in a robe wearing headphones, walking around bouncily to the upbeat music and stirring something in a bowl. Dasha comes in and says, "You made me cake." Villanelle says, "It's not for you." Dasha says the cake looks and tastes bad, and asks her who she saw in London, but Villanelle just says, "Konstantin." Dasha asks her why she is lying, and says Villanelle is so close to getting what she wants. "They want to meet with you." They want to discuss Villanelle's new contract, but meanwhile, stay put. Dasha leaves. Villanelle is all excited. She throws the cake away.
Villanelle is walking around the shopping area, her hands holding several bags. Konstantin comes up behind her and startles her. He wants to go somewhere where they can talk. They go up in an aerial tram car by themselves. Villanelle has the hiccups. She says it's Eve's birthday. Konstantin reveals that Niko is in Poland. He gives her a card and says he got her family as she asked, but he doesn't know where they are yet. First, he needs her to do something personal for him, off the record.
Villanelle is clipping flowers in a garden. Kruger's wife comes up to her and asks her in French to be careful, but switches to English. Those were her husband's favorite. She starts talking about him. Villanelle says you're free now. The woman says she doesn't want to be free, she wants a family, and hugs Villanelle, who looks at the shears she has been using, and hiccups. The woman startles her with a sudden sound, and Villanelle drops the shears, but the hiccups have not gone away. Villanelle asks her to try again. They each try scaring each other and go running through the garden, laughing. Villanelle strangles her with a hose and hiccups again. She phones Konstantin and tells him it's done.
Carolyn's alarm wakes her up at 5 A.M. We hear frogs croaking. After she's dressed, Geraldine says hi but Carolyn walks past her.
Carolyn is having a meal with Paul in a fancy restaurant. He has ordered something for her as an olive branch. He thinks Kruger was embezzling. She says no, he was in debt. She is annoyed that Paul had not given her the authority to avoid the death of an innocent man. She wants her office back.
In a taxi, Carolyn sees Konstantin on the street, talking on his cell phone.
Back home, Geraldine seems on edge and asks Carolyn what she's doing home at this time of day. Carolyn asks whether Geraldine has had any visitors lately. Geraldine says just a friend whom Carolyn does not know. Carolyn heads up the stairs and Geraldine bursts into tears. Geraldine says she's worried about Carolyn, and that it's weird to carry on like this, not even saying his name. Carolyn says she's doing more for Geraldine's brother than she can imagine. Geraldine asks to be let in on it but Carolyn avoids it and continues upstairs. She lies down, turns on her frog noise machine, covers her face with a pillow, and presses it down, squeezing it tightly with both fists.
Dasha is swimming laps. She pauses to light a cigarette and a woman in heels appears. Then the two women are sitting on pool chairs. Dasha says she has everything under control. The other woman asks, "Then why is she running around London pursuing her agent friend?" Dasha makes excuses. The other woman asks whether she wants to go back home to Russia where she will be a hero, but says she can't, that the excuses are not acceptable. Dasha says she can kill Polastri. The other woman says don't kill anyone, just drive a wedge between them.
Niko approaches the old woman with another tray of bread, but it's Dasha, who says in Polish that Milena is in the hospital, nothing serious, and asked her to look after him and the place. He agrees to come fix the barn door the next day.
Dasha walks near the pig pen. Inside it with the pigs, there is some blood and the hand end of an arm showing on the ground.
Now we're back in the bar with the raucous crowd, Niko, the female bartender, and Dasha, who grabs Niko's phone when he leaves it unattended. She texts his happy selfie to someone with the message, "The only thing missing is you."
Niko is fixing the barn door. Dasha, out of his view, attaches a note that says, "Still got it!" to a sharp pitchfork. She sees someone arrive in a vehicle and hides. It's Eve, who smiles and calls out to Niko, who slowly raises his arm and waves. Dasha, hidden from Eve's view, stabs Niko from behind through the neck with the pitchfork. He falls to the ground. Eve is transfixed and falls to her knees, looking puzzled.
A train pulls away from a rural stop, and Villanelle walks away. "Home" flashes on the screen.
