I have fond memories of reading The Monkey's Paw as a child, and Chiller TV's version does a great job of keeping chills steadily running down the old spine. Now you can see for yourself as it's getting set to hit home video.

Unfortunately, I live in one of those areas of the United States that is slow to pick up channels like Chiller, FearNet and even Robert Rodriguez’s new network El Rey. One carrier might carry the network or maybe every carrier except for mine. Regardless, Scream Factory – the best in the business in genre home entertainment – is eliminating the obstacle of seeing Chiller’s original content by bringing last year’s The Monkey’s Paw to Blu-Ray & DVD. The film is directed by Brett Simmons (Husk) and has a screenplay by Macon Blair (who is amazing in Blue Ruin but you’ve seen his acting abilities in Murder Party and, more recently, Hellbenders) based off of W.W. Jacobs’ original short story. We have the full details on when you can get your paws on The Monkey’s Paw.

Coma To be honest, I'm surprised we don't get more medical themed horror thrillers each year as this is a genre ripe for the picking. Think about, people have an inherent fear of hospitals, going into surgery, of receiving treatment. Haven't you ever known someone who wouldn't go get treatment at one point or another simply because they don't like hospitals. Now you know what I am talking about! The House on Haunted Hill remake combined a haunted house story with the dark chapter of America's past in regards to medical treatment and created a bone chilling film. Or we have the more recent Sutures from director Tammi Sutton which exploited people's fears of medical treatment by showcasing an array of grisly, but highly effective scenarios involving medical experimentation. Or another favorite of mine, The Harvest, which uses the good old kidney heist urban legend as the film's central film premise.

Tammi Sutton is one of the busiest people working in horror today. Having covered what seems like every aspect of the filmmaking process from being a director, producer, production designer, art designer, costume designer, actress, heck she is even editing one of her upcoming films! Is there anything that this bright up and comer can't tackle?!? Judging by her resume, no! I recently had the chance to ask her a few questions about her latest genre film, Sutures. It is refreshing to have another female voice directing in the horror genre. What made you want to start making horror films?
I've loved watching horror films all my life. I watched a lot of Universal, Hammer and Amicus Horror films growing up and of course all the drive-in, exploitation stuff of the seventies as I got older, they've all had a lasting impression. Movies were where most kids connected to the...

Sutures DVD ArtworkDirector: Tammi Sutton.
Writers: Brian Moon, Carlos Laucha, and Jacqueline A. Kelly.
Sutures is a film produced by Sutures LLC and distributed on DVD July 20th by one of the largest independent film supporters, Mti Home Video. Sutures LLC was created exclusively for this film and this company was likely built as a stopping gap in case the film failed financially. This is an educated guess. However, filmmaker Tammi Sutton and her crew have displayed a knack for incorporating childhood trauma in to a story involving unanesthetized organ harvesting. The believability of the premise takes awhile to get used to, but once imagination overcomes this obstacle, Sutures turns out to be an enjoyable yet tragic tale of madness and unresolved Oedipal issues.
The film begins as many horror films do with several good looking twenty-somethings venturing out in to the wilderness for a well deserved rest. These med'...

28Dla is going behind the scenes to take a look at director Trent Haaga's (Deadgirl) latest, Chop. Haaga brings an actor's experience to this film with appearances in over thirty films including Chad Ferrin's Someone's Knocking at the Door, the upcoming indie flick Sutures and many more. In this latest production a young couple must confront their past at the hands of a psychotic stranger (Bloody). A revenge thriller for sure, Chop also has a comedic element and principal photography on this independent feature was completed within Los Angeles, recently.
In these shocking exclusive stills Chop shows that things will not go smoothly for actors Tanishaa Mukherji, Billy Bakshi, Malaya Manson, and Timothy Muskatell (Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill!) in Haaga's directorial debut. Have a look at some of these great production stills here until a trailer becomes available for Chop shortly.
A short synopsis for Chophere:

The story follows a group of "longtime friends" (IMDb) to a fatal convergence with a "mercenary surgeon," (IMDb) who needs body parts for unknown experiments. Steel yourself and then step inside Sutures with this clip past the break.
The synopsis for Sutures here:

He is a hunter with the keen skill of one who has also been hunted. Prey turned predator.
