Victor's Hangover
hellraiser71 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Warning don't read unless seen episode.

This episode is an honorable mention, it sort of predates the film "The Hangover". Though this episode is different as it' s not all laughs when near the end they cease. This episode maturely deals with the issue of alcoholism.

I really like how it's done as it's a mystery where just like Victor we're trying to figure out what the heck happened at the party last night. We see Victor interviewing each of the characters in that party and put the pieces together. It's kind of funny how the alcohol contents he picked out are wine coolers which look like the "Henry and James" brand which was popular at the time with all those commercials in the 80's (that catchphrase "thank you for your support" was stuck in my head for a while). I just find it a little funny because that's not a normal alcohol content most young adults would pick out it always looked like the drink for senior citizens, but then again anyone inexperienced with alcohol content would be curious about any kind.

Of course, we see Victor down one which turns to more, and well he parties down and much more. There are some funny bits like seeing Victor dancing to some disco like music. But also, one moment I thought was funny when he was playing with a couple of antique Giraffes and accidently breaks them, which of course gives one of his friends a lot of grief.

Things though take a serious turn when Victor interviews Mags. Mags then lays it all down as we see her trying to deal with him during the party. She then tries to have him give him his keys as Victor obviously had more than he can handle. But then Victor he just says something which I thought was completely out of line and offensive. This really hurts Mags and she just walks away from him. I'll admit that really made me feel sad for her as that moment revealed some depth about her and what she had to deal with most of her life. But also, like her even I was offended by that line, because that is just insult to injury which is never a laughing matter.

I like that we see Victor does genuinely apology for what he said to her (on a side note even apologies to the others), you see in his eyes he really feels awful about that, and I'm sure will never drink again. I could forgive him (well not now anyway) as he wasn't in his right mind, as everyone under the influence never really is. However, we see the damage he's done to Mags is severe when she says she'll forgive him someday but has one last line that was haunting and is sadly true when it comes to people learning their lesson too late.

Victor's one night partying, turned out to be the worst night of his life.
