Brett Simmons' horror feature Animal has moved into post-production. This beastly film will be shown through a limited theatrical screening and on the Chiller channel. The film stars Joey Lauren Adams (Chasing Amy), Amaury Nolasco ("Prison Break"), Parker Young, Elizabeth Gillies and Paul Iacono. Simmons, from Husk horror fame, directed the film from Thommy Hutson and Catherine Trillo's (Prank) script. Now, a couple of photos from production have been released. The story for Animal involves several friends hiking in some unfamiliar backwoods. A blood-thirsty predator is on their heels and their dire predicament brings out some dark secrets from the group. Shooting on Animal completed in August of 2013, so the film is likely set for release, soon. Fans of creature features or of backwood thrillers can preview some of the production stills here, with more details to come. Release Date: Tba (2014). Director: Brett Simmons. Writers: Thommy Hutson, Catherine.

Danielle Harris did not only star in the vampire movie Stake Land, she directed a short back-story for one of the characters: "Willie", played by Sean Nelson.
Harris stars in Stake Land as Belle, a pregnant woman who hitches a ride with other survivors in the vampire-ridden wastes of North America in the dystopic future. During the filming, the producers at Dark Sky media and director Jim Mickle decided to create 6 short films, to accompany the feature film, that would be released online or possibly on the DVD.
“Mickle asked me, ‘Do you want to do one?’ I had, like, one day off during the three weeks we were filming, and I came home at 2 in the morning and wrote the story to shoot the next day.”
Harris actually has directed another horror short, Madison, which was part of the ill-fated all-female horror anthology Prank. She’s also gearing up...

Danielle Harris is someone most genre fans know and know well. Smart, funny, and beautiful, since bursting onto the horror scene as a young child in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, she has grown to become a horror icon.
Through her voluminous film work in such movies as The Last Boy Scout, Free Willy, Daylight, Urban Legend, Rob Zombie’s Halloween films, and most recently Hatchet II, she’s established herself as a performance standard in her field. Her characters are usually deeply complex and her portrayal of them as magnificently layered and deftly subtle.
Last year, she joined the cast of Adam Green’s sequel to his wildly popular Hatchet, taking over the role of “Mary Beth” from Tamara Feldman and truly made it her own. While Hatchet II received a troubled release schedule, horror film fans can now rejoice with the film’s debut onto DVD...

What a better way to celebrate "Women in Horror Month" than a tribute to our favorite scream queen! According to Wikipedia a scream queen is an actress who has become associated with horror films, either through an appearance in a notable entry as a frequent victim or through constant appearances as the protagonist. Who could wear the heavy crown of such a broad definition? To be the Queen her majesty must embrace all expectations. Well, we think we’ve found her and after a life time career of horror, All Hail Danielle Harris!
The scream queen. Well, we all know she has to at least have a set of lungs on her but what else? Multiple rolls in horror films is a must and a little skin, nudity or sex is a plus. Oh, and she’s got to be drop dead gorgeous to boot! She can fall victim to...

Danielle Harris talks Hatchet II, Stakeland, and her directorial feature horror debut.
Danielle Harris says, “My Marybeth has just gone through a lot. She’s a completely different person, trudging through the swamps with a bunch of ask-kickers looking for Victor Crowley. It was hard work.”
You know Harris. Her long line of films includes Halloween 4 and 5, Rob Zombie’s Halloween I and II, and dozens of others. As Marybeth, Harris gets to pick off where Green’s first Hatchet movie left off – with survivor Marybeth escaping the clutches of a serial killer and seeking to get revenge, and some peace of mind, by jutting back out into the swamps alongside Tony Todd, Aj Bowen, and a slew of other characters as they try to locate the deformed homage to slashers Victor Crowley. Though the film is already taken out of theaters due to some kind of weird mishap, you...

When a young actress named Adrienne King signed on for a small horror film called Friday the 13th, she had no idea that it would end up becoming one of the most successful independent films with a budget of around one million dollars and a gross of over 50 times that to date and that it would become one of the biggest franchises in Hollywood (spawning ten sequels including Freddy vs. Jason and one remake so far).
While Sean Cunningham’s Friday the 13th was another step forward for reinvigorating 80s horror films, it was King’s portrayal of creative spirit Alice that centered the film and solidified her place as one of Dread Central’s most beloved final girls.
When King took the role as Alice, she was already a 25-year veteran in the entertainment industry. I asked King to discuss how it felt to grow up as a child...

Danielle Harris stars in the new Halloween sequel by Rob Zombie. It’s a crap movie, but Danielle Harris, who was brought back into the franchise last year by Zombie for his remake, actually starred in the original Halloween 4 and 5, in which she played Jamie Lloyd, the target of Michael Myer’s wrath. In Zombie’s Halloween II, she reprises her role as Annie Brackett, the ill-fated friend of Lori Strode who bravely takes on nudity in an un-Jamie Lloyd way.
But Danielle Harris is much more than funny anecdotes about how much Donald Pleasance scared her when she was a kid because he was always drunk on the set and wearing a gross fake scar; she’s a clever woman with filmmaking aspirations of her own. She tells Pretty/Scary about how the Halloween franchise is now a part of her life...

Three years ago producer/writer Anthony Masi took on the legacy of Haddonfield’s most infamous resident, Michael Myers, in his documentary Halloween: 25 Years of Terror (review here). The very same year he produced a retrospective on Bob Clark’s cult horror classic Black Christmas. How does someone follow that up? By taking horror fans back to Camp Crystal Lake with a new documentary, His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th..
“Everyone knows who Jason is. He’s so iconic that it’s not even just horror fans that know who he is. He’s almost like Santa Claus, really,” said Masi. “The hockey mask alone is now just a symbol of what Jason is in terms of the pop culture lexicon. While considering Jason’s legacy, the 30th anniversary of the first film and the reboot film coming out, we just knew the timing was right...
