This LISTING is all messed up!
charlytully2 July 2009
Warning: Spoilers
IMDb does nothing to prevent ANYONE from garbling any fictitious or semi-fictitious made-up entry as one of the million "movies", etc., in its data base (as long as that person has the patience and persistence of a member of the insect kingdom). "RYAN'S DAUGHTER II" a case in point. The challenged and lazy contributor (identified as "anonymous" in the plot summary section) who foisted this listing upon IMDb obviously amalgamated two of the "extras" on Disk 2 of the 2006 Turner Entertainment\Warner Brothers DVD release for RYAN'S DAUGHTER. "Anonymous" takes the running time of "Ryan's Daughter: A Story of Love (which is nothing more than an extended, pompous trailer for the 1970 feature film)--7 minutes--and mashes that with details from another DVD "vintage" extra entitled "We're the last of the traveling circuses" (a quote from RYAN'S director David Lean), a contemporaneous "making of" segment which appeared as a 20-minute episode of the BBC TV show, FILM NIGHT SPECIAL, in 1970. Unfortunately, the RYAN'S DAUGHTER edition of this show is NOT one of the half dozen listed separately on IMDb, but "Anonymous" ignored the clear title credit on the DVD, which included the names of FILM NIGHT producer\director Barry Brown and interviewer Tony Bilbow. The cumbersome IMDb new-movie-listing-entry process is too redundant for any thinking person to tackle, but I will post this cautionary comment, which has enough info for any intelligent user with obsessive\compulsive disorder to correct this bogus listing for "RYAN'S DAUGHTER II" by "Anonymous."
