There were a total of 11 Crystal Darkness documentaries produced across the country and one Spanish version filmed in Mexico.
The documentary always aired as a "road block" where every TV station in a viewing area aired it at the same time, commercial free. It was available in prisons, jails, and schools.
On average the small crew spent 5-7 days filming at locations across the state for each documentary.
There was typically about 20-30 hours of interview footage that was transcribed then edited into the half-hour documentary.
