- Having been kidnapped by a crazed Tuco, Walt and Jesse are held prisoner in a remote desert hideout. Tuco takes care of his sick uncle the mute Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis), a former drug kingpin who is now incapacitated due to a stroke and can only communicate with a bell. Walter had used the name Heisenberg in all his previous meetings with Tuco, but now he has Walter's wallet and knows his real name and address.
Walt's brother-in-law Hank and the DEA lead a raid on Tuco's entire organization. They have arrested many of his associates, but Tuco himself has managed to escape. Tuco is the prime suspect in the disappearance of Krazy-8. Hank also says that Tuco's fingerprint was found at the junkyard where they recovered No-Doze and Gonzo's bodies. Thus, Hank grounds for investigation. Hank thinks Tuco is the new Meth kingpin in town. Hank gets a DEA manhunt started for Tuco, but secret tells Gomez that Tuco is likely to be in Mexico by now.
Tuco believes that Gonzo brought the raid from the DEA about by ratting him out. Tuco says that Gonzo has not been picking his phone for the last 2 days. Tuco is not aware that Gonzo himself is dead at the junkyard. He also suspects that Walter and Jesse may have talked to the police about their dealings with him. Walt unsuccessfully tries to feed Tuco the Ricin poison he has prepared. The Ricin was laced on the packet of blue Meth that Walt had in his pocket. Tuco was about to take a hit, when Jesse says that it has chili as a secret ingredient and Tuco says that he hates chili. Tuco intends to keep Walt and Jesse in the compound until his cousins take them all across the border to Mexico. Tuco plans to disappear in the jungle and set up a super lab. That way Walter can cook 24/7.
Hank, meanwhile, takes time off work to help look for the missing Walt. APD Detective Tim Roberts (Nigel Gibbs) is also giving his time to help with the investigation. Skyler tells Tim that Walt has been tense lately. He came home the previous night and was worried. He got a phone call, but didn't pick up the phone. He walked out the house, and has not returned since. Hank tells Tim that he checked Walter's call logs and he never got a call on his registered phone, which means Walt had a 2nd Pre-paid phone (it was given to Walt by Jesse). Skyler is sick with worry and has been distributing handbills with Walt's photo. She learns from Marie that Walter had a 2nd phone, which indicates that Walter was keeping a secret.
Hank remembers that Jesse Pinkman had been supplying Walt with marijuana and tries to track him down. Hank meets Jesse's mother. She realizes that Hank is from the DEA and is worries that Hank believes that Jesse and Walter may be in touch after so many years after Jesse finishing school. Hank assures her that he only wants to find Walter, who has a baby on the way. Hank learns that Jesse is driving a 89' Chevy Monte Carlo. It's a low jack car.
Using his bell to communicate, Tuco's mute wheelchair-bound uncle alerts him to the fact that his prisoners are up to something. They murmur about how Tuco didn't take the Risin laced Meth, they change the TV channel when the news covers the death of his 2 associates (If Tuco finds out that Gonzo did not double cross him, then he will automatically suspect Walt and Jesse), and they debate on why Walter took the gun from Jesse in the first place. Walter mixes the Ricin in Tuco's food, which the uncle sees. The uncle throws Tuco's plate off the table. One bell ding means yes, 2 means no. The uncle communicates to Tuco that he does not trust Jesse and Walter. He tells Tuco that they are making a punk out of him. Tuco takes them outside and plans to kill them. Walt and Jesse manage to wound Tuco and escape. They hide when they see another car coming their way.
Hank shows up looking for Jesse and is confronted by a wounded and very angry Tuco. A brief firefight ensues in which Hank shoots Tuco dead. Walter now knows that Hank is involved in the investigation and runs away.
