- Although Staged is primarily a comedy, the program is set during the COVID-19 pandemic, giving the series melancholy undertones. The series focuses on two men in showbiz who are out of work and depressed. This can lead to some upsetting moments.
- Characters occasionally have meltdowns and start screaming at the camera. They are often sudden and unexpected, but can happen at any time as the characters are always on the edge.

- The two main leads of the show (Michael Sheen and David Tennant) frequently fall out. Usually it's over comedically trivial things, but a couple of times in the show they have major arguments which can get intense.
