Robert Patrick was so perfect for the role of the liquid metal T-1000 villain in James Cameron's Terminator 2: Judgement Day. What's crazy is that he originally didn't have the part. According to Patrick, Cameron had originally cast another actor in the role. That actor was rock star, Billy Idol!
As you know, the classic movie is being re-released in theaters in 3D next week and when talking about the film with THR, Patrick revealed:
"Billy Idol was set to do the role of the T-1000, as I understand. I can tell you that I saw Billy's image when I went to Stan Winston after I got the role. Unfortunately, he got into a motorcycle accident and busted up his leg, so he wasn't able to physically do what the role demanded."

Agnes Carlsson, a winner of "Sweden Idol" five years ago, has hit both the U.S. mainstream and dance scene in a big way with her smash single, "Release Me." MTV News had the opportunity to sit down with the young starlet as she made her Wmc debut in Miami.
"'Release Me' was the third song I wrote in my life, and to hear and see that a lot of people just really like the song and the music I do is amazing," she said.
Undoubtedly, thousands of conference-goers became far better acquainted with the diversity and range of the Swedish sensation as she packed in a whirlwind week full of appearances and performances. She also took the stage at some of Miami's biggest parties with the likes of Estelle and Kelis.

As the youngest winner in "Idol" (Sweden) history, Agnes Carlsson has spent the past year making waves in the world of electronic and dance music. The 22-year-old stunner has galvanized a worldwide fan base with her international smash hit "Release Me," moving over 700,000 copies around the globe. Not bad for a girl from Stockholm who wasn't even voted into the competitions' Top 12 (the judges had to use their executive powers to put her through to the finals of the 2005 season).
Since then, her success has only blossomed. Singles from her third album Dance Love Pop have been released in 35 countries, and she scored a nomination for Sweden's Best Act at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards. Agnes will make her first trip to Winter Music Conference in Miami this week, taking the stage with established hitmakers like Estelle, Kelis and Macy Gray. She is being dubbed an artist...

For four months we welcomed Adam Lambert into our homes to entertain us, to allow us to forget about the daily grind, and to remind us to follow our dreams. The performer flew under the radar until he unleashed his talent in the Top 10 of Season 8 on American Idol (TV). As we prepare for a new batch of Top 10 Idol hopefuls, many are left wondering, can these contestants compare to the legacy left by Adam Lambert, or did he forever change Idol? American Idol (TV) is in full swing -- eight contestants have already been eliminated and four more are set to leave on Thursday. Season 9 began with much change when longtime judge Paula Abdul left and comedian Ellen DeGeneres filled her slot next to Simon Cowell at the judge's table. Already under close scrutiny, it is hard not to reflect on Season 8, which was celebrated by record number voters,...

American Idol presenter Ryan Seacrest has admitted that he’s still not entirely sure that Simon Cowell will actually get married and thinks the whole thing might be a big practical joke.
The X Factor boss is reportedly engaged to 36 year old Mezghan Hussainy but Seacrest told The Daily Star:
‘If Simon does get married it would be an even bigger event than the Oscars.
“I’m still not convinced that there’s going to be a wedding, because I have known him for so long and I’m waiting for this to be a big practical joke.”
“I’m expecting him to put out a press release like the Jonas Brothers, saying I too have given out a commitment ring. I honestly don’t think there will be a wedding.”

Former American Idol contestant Jermaine Sellers has revealed that he is planning to send Simon Cowell a new bible.
Sellers was eliminated from the show on Thursday night only two night’s after he offered to take the judge to his church.
“I’m gonna send him a Bible,” he told Access Hollywood. “Like I told him, he [needs] to go to church.
“If he had a little bit of Jesus in him, then he wouldn’t be so mean. I’ve never known [anybody] that don’t smile.”
However, Simon isn’t as mean as Jermaine insinuated. The music mogul even offered his commiserations to the outgoing singer.
“He came to me afterward, after I got voted off, and he said, ‘Jermaine, I’m sorry’,” Sellers explained.

Somewhat hidden through the American Idol (TV) audition process, Joe Munoz was not featured as much as other contestants, which some say might have hurt his overall chances. That didn’t seem to bother the always cheerful Joe who wowed judges but fell short of wining America's heart. Debuting on the Idol stage, Munoz sang You And I Both from his Idol Jason Mraz, and overall the judges really seemed to like it. Check out what the judges had to say: Kara DioGuardi: "In terms of singing, I think you've been the best." Randy Jackson: "Think you did a good job with it, dawg." Simon Cowell: "It was okay and safe." Ellen DeGeneres: "You are so comfortable on stage." In a recent press conference, PopStar was on the line along with other media outlets who talked to Joe about his Idol inspiration, dreaded regrets, and his future in pop music.

John Park and Jermaine Sellers were eliminated from "American Idol" but have nothing but positive feelings about their entire experience on the show.
John Park
On his most memorable moments of the journey:
It's just meeting the other contestants and really becoming god friends. Also working with Rickey Minor and the band. I mean, just working with the top of the top crew and band and coaches, it was just incredible.
On Simon's harsh remark that John would soon rejoin his acapella group:
He was basically saying that I might go home this week. He of course dramatizes it so people at home watch it and get a kick out of it. I don't really mind it because I understand where he's coming from. That's just who he is on TV. After the elimination happened and I sang my last song, he came up to me and shook my...

The "American Idol" semi-finalists have been whittled down to 16 contestants and so far a few trends appear to be emerging during these first two weeks of eliminations.
Wondering why singers like John Park and Joe Munoz have been booted and singers like Tim Urban and Lacey Brown have stuck around?
Some "Idol" writers around the Web have posited some theories about early Top 24 eliminations.
La Times music critic Ann Powers tweeted Thursday night (Mar. 5):
"Watching Idol a little late. All people of color eliminated so far. Boo!" and "What's with the racial purge on Idol tonight?"
Meanwhile, La Times Idol Tracker Shirley Halperin responded in a piece:
"As much as some would like to draw red and blue lines in the sand, there's no denying that all four contestants gave less than stellar performances this week."
Gawker's Richard Lawson wrote:

Although it sucks to see people’s dreams get crushed, don’t you agree with the rest of the country that we sent the right four people home?
There’s usually a ton of controversy about which contestants went home undeservedly, but this week I agree with the rest of America: the right four contestants were given the boot last night on American Idol. Let’s be honest: Haeley Vaughn, Michelle Delamor, John Park and Jermaine Sellers were definitely the weakest links and we had to say goodbye.
21-year-old John Park was the first guy to get cut, which wasn’t all that surprising, given that I had already forgotten he existed (his rendition of John Mayer’s gravity had my head defying gravity. Snooze-fest!). Up next to the chopping block was Jermaine “I don’t need votes, I have Jesus” Sellers, 26. If Jermaine’s Idol fate was any indication,...

Even after being hospitalized due to complications from diabetes, MamaSox not only brought the house down on "Idol" this week, she stole the show!
momlogic's Vivian: This week's "American Idol" got off to a tumultuous start on Tuesday, but it wasn't due to any kind of nutty scandal. Our fave single-mom contestant, Crystal Bowersox, was hospitalized due to complications from diabetes -- forcing the enterprise to shift performance-schedules for the week.
So instead of leading off with the ladies as planned, producers made it a testosterone Tuesday. New daddy "Big Mike" Lynche started things off. He did strong justice to James Brown's, "It's a Man's, Man's, Man's World," and the judges responded warmly.
Randy said, "I gotta give it to you! Crazy! R and B star right there!" Ellen appreciated his song choices and called him "the one to beat." Kara said she didn't know what he'd eaten that day...

'Idol' exit Q&A: Haeley Vaughn talks about connecting with her music, and Simon's cryptic prediction
Haeley Vaughn was nothing if not relentlessly cheerful during her tenure on American Idol, so it's kinda bracing to hear her sound so hushed and droopy the day after she was eliminated from the show. Well, for the first 15 seconds, anyway -- then it was back to the upbeat Haeley we all know and love. Hi Haeley. Hi Adam, how are you? I’m okay -- more importantly, how are you doing today? Um, I’m doing okay, I guess. I’m a little disappointed. It seemed like an emotional final performance for you. Oh yeah, definitely it was. I was crying through my song,...

Last night John Park and Jermaine Sellers were eliminated from American Idol. This afternoon, they both took the time to answer questions about their time on American Idol and what's next for them.
While the two couldn't be more different as singers or interview subjects, John was reserved and thoughtful and Jermaine remained the loquacious preacher that we saw interacting with the judges, both attributed their eliminations to the same flaw: an inability to focus. It turns out whether you're a lifelong church singer or the lead vocalist of your college glee group, when it comes to 30 million people watching you and the promise of Simon Cowell's wrath, there's no real preparation for Idol.
Here are the highlights of Jermaine and John's interviews. ...

American Idol and indie music hardly go hand-in-hand. In fact, before season 9, I might have said that the two were mortal enemies. Or, at the very least, polar opposites. American Idol existed to create larger than life pop-stars overnight, who would appeal to the largest common denominator, sell out arenas and sing industry penned number one tunes.
Independent music sought to counter the so-called Idol effect, where success was measured in the number of nights and years you spent touring, signing to a small record label and hoping Pitchfork wouldn't eviscerate you (You think Simon Cowell is harsh?), all with the big goal of being able to quit your day job pulling coffee to make music full-time. Even the most successful independent artists in the world, the Sufjan Stevens' and Grizzly Bear's, could never dream of having an audience half as large as the average number of people...

His "American Idol" journey might have come to an end Thursday, but John Park will always have Shania Twain.

The voters have spoken! Four of this season's top 20 hopefuls were sent packing on Thursday night's "American Idol." Did one of your favorites get eliminated? First to get the boot was John Park, whose pop-star dreams came crashing down in the aftermath of his critically maligned take on John Mayer's "Gravity." "I've really enjoyed my time here," he said, adding that his highlight on the show was meeting Shania Twain, as well as his fellow contestants. Second to say adios was Jermaine Sellers, who did little to endear himself to the judges with his rendition of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On." "I'm a church singer -- that's where my heart is," Jermaine said. "In God there's no failure. … so I leave here happy." Next, the door was thrown wide open for Michelle Delamor's departure, following her pitchy performance of Creed's "With Arms Wide Open." "I think I was...

Simon Cowell said during the Thursday, March 4 results show of "American Idol" that some of the compliments doled out the night before were undeserved. Who was he talking about?
Cowell didn't explicitly say he was referring to the female singers.
But one could take from both Cowell's and Ryan Seacrest's comments that Cowell watched the previous show back, which would indicate the Wednesday, March 3 women's Top 10 performances.
If that's the case, who did he mean?
Michelle Delamor, who got eliminated even though the judges praised her is an obvious choice. If Cowell watched the show back and was not as impressed, then perhaps that's how the viewers at home reacted too.
Or could he mean Siobhan Magnus, who was very polarizing with her big "Think" notes?
Or perhaps Katelyn Epperly, who Kara and Simon praised but Ellen and Randy were not as complimentary about.
Who do you think he meant?...

Even though Sarah Palin is ostensibly a politician, doesn't she feel more like a reality star? She's polarizing, usually at the center of controversy and has had her family's life strewn all over the press. (In these instances, she's not all that different from Kate Gosselin.) So it makes sense that there are reports that Palin is shopping a reality show with the help of "Survivor" producer Mark Burnett.
According to the report in Entertainment Weekly, Palin has been taking meetings with networks about "a docudrama about Alaska" that has been described as a "'Planet Earth' type look" at the state. Though Burnett is best known for shows like "The Apprentice," "Rock Star" and the best show currently on MTV (that would be "Bully Beatdown"), the show that Palin appears to be presenting sounds pretty straight-laced.

We so get why Simon Cowell would call American Idol’s Siobhan Magnus ’strange,’ but we truly love the quirky girl.
In a bid to impress the judges, the 19 year old Cape Cod girl belted out Aretha Franklin’s ‘Think’ on last night’s show and though she started off weak, she finished off on the most incredible note.
Randy Jackson praised her fearlessness for picking Aretha and was shocked that she killed it. Ellen DeGeneres agreed, joking: “Most people would say don’t take on such a big song, but they also said don’t mix sleeves with a blanket and look at the Snuggie – it’s huge!”
Simon Cowell called her a strange person again, and told her that while there were parts of the song that were terrible, her final note was wonderful. He added “You are interesting, but very, very talented.”

American Idol contestant Paige Miles made us a little nervous when we heard she would be singing Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Walk Away’ on last night’s live show. We weren’t sure she could live up to the former winner’s version and we were right.
The 22 year old can sing and she did sing the song really well, but Kelly did it better and Paige didn’t bring anything new to the piece. However she did sing it in a way that shows off all the good things in her voice and we truly love her bluesy edge.
Randy Jackson liked the performance, but told her that he didn’t hear enough of her in it. Ellen disagreed and said that she likes everything she did with it.
Kara DioGuardi (who coincidentally co-wrote the show) could see Paige having a hit with the song, but notes that if she...

Sometimes it's hard to figure out which semi-finalists deserve to go home on "American Idol." This week? Not so much. The grim parade of bad, sad and Wtf? was Macy's Day long this week, led by repeat visits from a few contestants who must have lucky rabbit feet sewn into their tracheas or compromising pictures of Simon Cowell and his enormous (alleged) Hummel figurine collection.
Either way, there's no doubt who should go home this week. Note we said should, because America has gotten it wrong before.
Number one on the list is toothy cowgirl Haeley Vaughn. Yes, she is cute as a button and so deliriously upbeat that she literally can't stop smiling, but let's face it: She's a terrible, terrible singer. Even with a swing at a song that should be a slam dunk for her (fellow teen Miley Cyrus' "The Climb") Vaughn was a train wreck.

20 year old Lilly Scott gave possibly the best performance of the night on yesterday’s American Idol live show.
The girl from Colorado sang ‘A Change is Gonna Come,’ by Sam Cooke and the judges seemed to be feeling her choice. We like Lilly’s uniqueness and the fact that she’s not really comparable to anyone else who has competed on the show to date.
Randy and Ellen both told Lilly that it was their favorite performance of the night, Kara DioGuardi said that she was “riveted” and couldn’t wait to see what she would do next. Simon Cowell thought it was good, but wasn’t as crazy about Lilly’s performance as the others. He added that she oversang parts and she wasn’t as good as Crystal.

We were kind of dreading Michelle Delamor’s performance on last night’s American Idol, as we really hate ‘With Arms Wide Open’ by Cree. However, somehow Michelle managed to pull it off well.
Randy Jackson and Ellen weren’t fans though with Randy saying she didn’t do enough with the song and Ellen saying that it ‘almost worked’. Kara and Simon agreed with us though and loved the performance.
Kara DioGuardi called it her favourite performance of Michelle’s ever, because she took a risk and had a great attitude. “You believed in it and I bought you,” she adds.
Simon Cowell agreed with Kara. He said that the first half was stronger than the second, but appreciated the judges gave a lot of contradictory advice last week, and appreciates that she tried to make the song her own.

We really like Didi Benami and want her to do well in American Idol but last night’s performances really wasn’t one of her strongest.
On the top 10 girls live show Didi sang “Lean On Me” by Bill Withers for the judges but it started off very weak and pitchy. She picked it up in the middle and finished well, but it just wasn’t strong enough for the judges.
Randy Jackson gave her a terrible review and said that he wouldn’t have picked that song for her. Ellen DeGeneres said that she has a great voice, but that she wishes she had chosen a different Bill Withers’ song.
Kara DioGuardi said it “really wasn’t good” and that she was missing consistency.

On last night’s American Idol live show Katie Stevens sang “Put Your Records On” by Corinne Bailey Rae for the judges. We think she might still be a bit too young for the show, in both her performances so far there has just been something missing.
Katie has a lovely voice and her personality translates well on stage but still she hasn’t found her niche yet and we agree with Simon Cowell, it would be hard to place her in the music industry.
Randy Jackson said that there were “some bright moments” that reminded him of her audition but she needs to tackle some bigger songs.
Ellen DeGeneres thought that Katie had a really great voice, but wants her to appear her age: “I don’t want to hear something I would hear in my dentist’s office… I want a young, hip song.”

We still find Lacey Brown one of the more forgettable contestants on this year’s American Idol season. The fact that she likes to restore antique furniture doesn’t make her stand out anymore either, why couldn’t she have chosen a more interesting hobby?
On last night’s live show Lacey sang Sixpence None The Richer’s ‘Kiss Me’ and though we liked it and thought her vocals were quite sweet, we agreed with Simon who said it was forgettable.
Randy Jackson thought the performance sounded like Karaoke, while Ellen DeGeneres thought it was adorable.
Kara DioGuardi thought that that it was good and that the track brought out her tone but added that Lacey needs to step it up a little bit. Simon Cowell described the song as “marginally better than last week” but added that there was a “massive difference” between her and Crystal.

Young Haeley Vaughn had really hoped to impress the judges with her performance of The Climb on last night’s live show. During her Vt she admitted that last week’s performance had been rough and promised to try to stop smiling and make this week’s song better.
We thought that Haeley started off ok, but got ridiculously pitchy at the end. We still like her but she needs to work on her tone in future weeks.
Randy Jackson thought she had no connection to the song at all, Ellen DeGeneres told her not to stop smiling but agreed with Randy that Haeley just didn’t connect.
Kara DioGuardi thinks that Haeley has the Alex Lambert factor, people are rooting for her. She added that she needs a year of practice to really excel.

Crystal Bowersox’s mystery illness led to a big American Idol swap this week, with the boys performing a night earlier than they should have.
What led her to be hospitalised and the show shifted has not yet been revealed but last night any lingering effects of the ailment that kept her from performing were completely concealed.
Crystal opened last night’s live show with Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “As Long As I Can See the Light.” That is pure, raw natural talent,” judge Ellen DeGeneres enthused afterwards. “There’s nothing forced, there’s nothing pushed.”
Randy Jackson loved the fact that she isn’t trying to be anybody else, saying: “Truth is reality… you are the truth and you do what you do.”

American Idol contestant Katelyn Epperly can sing, there is no doubt about that but if she doesn’t manage to catch peoples attention within the next few weeks we think she is going to struggle.
On last night’s live show Katelyn sang Coldplay’s “The Scientist” and it was good but it was just sooooo very slow! We loved the fact that she played piano and showed that she has varied musical skills but she needs to work on her performance skills if she makes it through to next week’s show.
Randy Jackson said that the performance was strong, but that it was a really slow song. Ellen DeGeneres told her that she fell asleep during it, which we totally agree with.
Kara DioGuardi disagreed and said she “kind of loves her”. She added that her biggest problem is being “all over the place” and she needs to figure out who she is.

After watching the top 10 ladies perform last night, I’m convinced the guys don’t have a chance!
Sorry boys! Some of you may be slated for greatness this season on American Idol (ahem, I love you Andrew Garcia!) but after watching the top 10 girls perform March 3, it’s looking pretty damn likely that this season is about girl power. If you don’t believe me, trust Simon Cowell – because he thinks the very same thing!
Case in point: Crystal Bowersox – who was in the hospital the day before, mind you – completely killed it with her version of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Long as I Can See the Light.” All the judges agreed that she was fabulous – and Simon even compared her talent to ultimate Idol Kelly Clarkson!
Platinum blond Lilly Scott drew nearly as many raves for her version of Sam Cooke’s “A Change is Gonna Come.”

In some ways, the first two weeks of this year's "American Idol" semifinals have felt a lot like an extension of the brutal Hollywood Week: a painful but necessary mass culling of the herd in order to get to the good stuff.
Four more singers went down Thursday night (March 4), including Michelle Delamor, Jermaine Sellers, Haeley Vaughn and John Park. Inexplicably, Tim Urban, the cute boy who has proven two weeks running that he is the luckiest guy on the stage, was given a pass, which allowed him to bust out his "what? me?" face yet again along with Todrick Hall, whose Tina Turner cover drew serious fire but also enough votes to keep him in the running.

Call of the search party! Blow out the candles! Crystal Bowersox (aka The Savior of Season Nine aka The Best Idol Contestant Who Ever Graced The Stage aka The Reason God Created Harmonicas) is still on "American Idol!"

It's very possible that the Top 8 "American Idol" women will all be better than any men left in the competition next week.
This week is easy, "Idol" viewers. There were four stand-outs, four middle-of-the-roads and two girls who should be packing their bags. Let's get right to Zap2it's Top 10 women.
No. 1 (in alphabetical order) Crystal Bowersox, Katelyn Epperly, Siobhan Magnus and Lilly Scott
There is no choosing between them. All four women were outstanding and they all reached the next level of the show in very different ways. Wednesday (Mar. 3) is the moment "American Idol" officially started season 9. Let's take them one by one.
Crystal Bowersox scoffs at "illness" and "hospitals." Her "Long As I Can See the Light" by Creedence Clearwater Revival is fabulous. Crystal is like Janis Joplin with a better vocal tone. She's funky without getting too swoopy. (If Randy Jackson can make up the word...

Adam Lambert joined Jay Leno for his return to The Tonight Show this week and took to the stage to perform his latest single.
The outrageous former American Idol finalist debuted “Sleepwalker,” and while we don’t love it as much as we did “Whataya Want From Me,” we think it might be a grower and it certainly allows him to showcase the upper register of his amazing voice.

"American Idol" contestant Crystal Bowersox returned to the "Idol" stage on Wednesday (Mar. 3) night. Any lingering effects of the ailment that kept her from performing and caused the show to switch the boys and girls performance nights were completely concealed.
After last week's take on Alanis Morissette's "Hand in My Pocket" was not particularly well-received, Bowersox had a lot to prove. Up first amongst the Top 10 women, she came through with flying colors with Creedence Clearwater Revival's "As Long As I Can See the Light."
"That is pure, raw natural talent," judge Ellen DeGeneres enthused afterwards. "There's nothing forced, there's nothing pushed."
And offering even stronger praise, Simon Cowell told Bowersox that he had "completely misunderestimated" her and drew a "serious artist" comparison between her and Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson.
Now it just remains to be seen if "Idol" fans are willing to forgive her having an extra day to recover.

We are starting to think that 23 year old Lee Dewyze may just be a dark horse ready to steal this year’s American Idol crown.
The Chicago singer got rid of his guitar and enchanted the audience with a fantastic rendition of Hinder’s “Lips Of An Angel” on last night’s live show. The judges must have been expecting him to be good as they did award him with the coveted final spot and some cool stars and fun back-drops for his performance.
Randy Jackson liked that Lee is taking chances and coming out of his comfort zone, even though there were some pitch problems. Ellen DeGeneres agreed, saying that she loves his passion and intensity. Kara says it’s a big improvement from last week and added that she can “hear him on the radio right now” because he has a commercial voice and look.

Tim Urban was the late addition to this year’s American Idol group and last week Simon Cowell told him that he regretted putting him in there.
However Tim’s rendition of Matt Nathanson’s “Come On Get Higher” impressed Cowell greatly last night, though we still don’t see what all the fuss is about. We thought his performance was pitchy and weak, but hey, who are we to judge!
Ellen DeGeneres loved how he used the stage, but thought the song was forgettable, Kara DioGuardi really liked it and said that he’s consistent, which she appreciates, however she added: “You look the part and you play the part, but it’s not all there yet.”
Randy Jackson said that he didn’t really get it andthat Tim’s performance was “very karaoke” because it had “nothing special, nothing jumped out and it wasn’t unique”.

We really like American Idol’s Aaron Kelly and think that the 16 year old has a stage presence and confidence way beyond his years.
On last night’s show Aaron gave a heartwarming rendition of The Temptations ‘My Girl,’ and though it was by no means perfect, it was a much stronger performance than some of the older and more experienced contestants were able to produce.
Randy Jackson thinks Aaron can “really sing” and said that his song was “200% better than last week”.
Ellen DeGeneres appreciates that he has more confidence and sings well, but brands the song “a little forgettable”.
Kara DioGuardi admitted that she “really liked it” and thinks that he is going to get “better and better”.
Simon Cowell didn’t like Aaron’s song choice and called it “all over the place.” He also thought that this week’s performance was too old-fashioned.

Is Andrew Garcia ever going to be able to match his Hollywood week performance of Paula Abdul’s ‘Straight Up’? He has now performed on two American Idol live shows and he has yet to impress the judges in the same way.
We weren’t crazy about Andrew’s song choice this week. His vocals were a little pitchy and the range didn’t seem to fit his voice all that well. Randy made a good point when he insisted that Andrew is better than that. He’d like to see him with a guitar and more of a Jason Mraz vibe.
Ellen DeGeneres disagreed and said that while there were pitch problems, she likes that Andrew is prepared to takes chances.
Kara DioGuardi wants him to surprise them and not play it too safe.

We haven’t seen a huge improvement in the American Idol boys this week and one of the weaker candidates had to be Jermaine Sellers.
Jermaine tried to give a soulful rendition of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Goin’ On”, but in the end it was unconvincing and very, very weak. We like the song and it could have been a great choice but feel like it didn’t really get going until the very end.
Randy Jackson thought there were a “couple of bright moments” but added that it just wasn’t a great performance.
Ellen DeGeneres loved his style, but said that it just didn’t work for her and it was “off a little bit”.
Kara DioGuardi said what he can do is impressive but he is “doing too much” adding that “we don’t need every trick in every performance.”

Young Alex Lambert gave one of the best performances of the night on last night’s American Idol. Before singing “Everybody Knows” by John Legend, Alex admitted that he was so nervous before last week’s live show that he threw up backstage.
Alex said that he wants to “love being on stage instead of being terrified of being on stage” and we think the guitar really helped him get over his nerves last night. He gave a truly touching rendition of the Legend track and the judges raved about the youngsters talent.
Randy said it was a great improvement on last week’s performance, and said that Alex found his own voice.
Ellen started with the banana analogies again and said Alex’s performance was like “someone took the unripe banana and put it in a paper bag…”
Kara DioGuardi said that Alex has an “incredible recordable voice” that...

Todrick Hall keeps pointing out that he’s a singer And a dancer and after his performance on last night’s American idol live show, we’re starting to think that he should perhaps stick to the dancing.
Todrick gave a rendition of the Tina Turner classic ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ for the judges last night and we didn’t like the arrangement at all. He’d slowed it down so much that he made the song almost unrecognisable and not in a good way!
Randy Jackson loved the falsetto run at the end of the song, but reminded Tod that a great song doesn’t need a ‘wild’ arrangement.
Ellen DeGeneres advised Todrick to sing and dance, although she wasn’t crazy about the song either.
Kara DioGuardi said that they all like Todrick as a person and when he started moving the performance got better.

We loved Casey James on last night’s American Idol, mostly for his rocking guitar playing than for his vocals, hut hey he certainly had style! We love his look, love his voice, but he could have ripped it just a little harder and the guitar did detract from his vocals somewhat.
Unfortunately some of the judges didn’t love his performance of “I Don’t Wanna Be” by Gavin Degraw as much as us. Randy Jackson loved him “channelling Hendrix through Texas”. He branded his guitar playing as “hot.”
Ellen loved the song choice and said that Casey “sounded great”. However she added that there is a “stiffness” on stage and advised Casey to perform more.
Kara DioGuardi thought that Casey “took two steps backward” this week. She explained that everything that was distinct about him went away, and he didn’t take the song to another level.
