The film is based on the grand prize winning screenplay "Jay" in the 2007 Cinemanila-FDCP Scriptwriting Contest.
The pink chick burial sequence was not originally part of the screenplay. It was included for thematic point after the pink chick was accidentally killed when the coffin's head panel closed down. This can be seen in the sequence when Jay Santiago, with Carlo the cameraman behind the coffin, is arranging the first meeting of Edward Navarro and Luzviminda Mercado in the wake for television exploitation.
