Great game but not as good as Spider-Man 2018
zacattack383 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This game is great! Fantastic gameplay (better than spidey 2018), great story, great graphics. I enjoyed every second of the game. I just wish it was longer. The story felt too short. Not nearly as long as the other game. There was also a poor plot. And I think they really screwed up the villain...like a teenage girl is leading a terrorist group? Really? You gotta do better than that. Also, a teenage boy is hacking into a huge companies firewalls and data banks? Cmon you gotta do better. But other than those two things...the game was great. Highly recommend

This game is SHORT
nix-cornelissen20 November 2020
This game is extremely fun to play. But it is SHORT. I finished this game very quickly and without putting a lot of time into it. It needs more.

Ah yes a fantastic dlc

Warning: Spoilers
This spinoff video game was looking to be at least OK or good. But I was proven like from the opening start of the game. We start as Miles and we are riding the subway. Something Spider-man would do without the costume. He is just a regular guy who is here to help HIS neighborhood. Of course Peter is here but Miles Morales is the gut you play for and it's fun to see and play a different Spider-man for once. Yeah of course the villain is in fact very generic. And the tinker was really his friend and common sense. But there are so many things in this game that I swear it made you feel like Miles Morales is in fact a friendly neighbor Spider-Man helping a deaf girl and have her give her scarf to Miles is all about being a human in the end. That's what is being a neighbor is all about. I love the fact that we see the human aspect of Spider-Man and that is what us people should see. The fact that we should get more of this in TV shows, movies and games this is what makes me love this game 10/10.

A Great but Rushed Game
alindsayal14 August 2023
After the amazing Spider-Man game came out on the PS4, it was clear that a sequel was coming. But it probably came earlier then anybody expected with Spider-Man: Miles Morales. This game was rushed out the door so it could be one of the first games for the new Playstation 5, I've replayed the game and here is my review for it. The premise of the game sees Miles Morales as the only Spider-Man in New York, while he learns how to do his new role conspiracies in Harlem threaten to destroy the city.

Characters Nadji Jeter reprises his role as Miles Morales from the first game and it is really fun to play as him instead of Peter this time. Building on the story from the first game, we see Miles develop as a character and go from a bit of an imposter to his own version of Spider-Man. He feels different to Peter Parker and I think that deserves plenty of credit and I definitely got invested in his character here.

Yuri Lowenthal does reprise his role as Peter Parker but he has a really small role in this game. The scenes that the two Spider-Men share together are great but this is just a teaser as to what we can expect in the future.

Other characters are great too, Miles Mother, Rio Morales is back from the previous game and they actually do a good job of developing her character arc and how the events of the previous game affected her. The two of them have great chemistry together and it is one of the nice relationships in the game.

They introduce Ganke, who is Miles best friend who knows he is Spider-Man and is basically his guy in the chair. There is a strong chemistry there and they have a fun relationship that basically takes place over the phone.

Other new characters such as Aaron Davis, Phin Mason & Simon Krieger voiced by the amazing Troy Baker are well done and enjoyable characters, even if they aren't as strong as characters from the previous game.

Story The story is okay, Miles personal story is fantastic and something different to what we had in the previous game. This was an inexperienced Spider-Man, trying to fully understand the role he has and how he can help people in his district and all of New York. But, the overall story is pretty rushed and flies by, probably because Sony rushed Insomniac in making this game. The villains aren't particularly written well and the way they are handled towards the end of the game is pretty weak. I think with a bit longer development time and better writing, this could have been a special story, instead of just decent.

Side Content This game has enough side content and I love the idea of Spider-Man having an app where people give him side missions. The side missions are fine, there is one in particular that I enjoyed with links to the previous game. But, some of them are pretty much replicas from the last game, and none of them stand out anywhere enough to be memorable. There is very little inspiration or care put into these and I have to be honest there wasn't enough motivation for me to complete them all.

Gameplay The gameplay is great, Miles moves differently to Peter and I am glad for that. He swings differently and has way less gadgets but different ones, it made me work in my action scenes and have to come up with unique ways to take down opposition. There is still a good skill tree that made me feel like I was making progress and this linked to the Venom Powers. The unique part of the gameplay was the Venom, The Bioelectricity powers Miles has and this was used really well and I enjoyed this different aspect of the character.

Graphics As mentioned above, this game was pushed through early to reach the PS5 and it looks amazing because of that. The cutscenes are beautiful and some of the best you will ever see, the game flowed really nicely and allowed the transitions from cutscene to gameplay to be the best it has ever been. This game is set at Christmas time and they did a good job of creating New York in that level which was different to the previous game.

Overall Overall, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a great game. It follows on really well from the previous game and really puts the shine on Miles Morales which is great for the future of the franchise. If it had been given more time, I think this game had the potential to be as good as the previous game but it falls a bit short. Still it is a great time that is definitely worth a playthrough.

Rating - 8/10.

Starting the new generation in style!
mayalvss20 November 2020
Spider-Man: Miles Morales original game from PlayStation 4 and 5, the new generation of consoles starts with a lot of style and quality, Miles shines in the game, the performance is incredible, so we want the quality of the games of this new generation. The end of the game is exciting and incredible, I am waiting for the continuation (THERE ARE POST-CREDIT SCENES)

Be Yourself
byrocow12 November 2020
The next gen consoles are here with brand new games and we start with this one which I've been looking forward to (I LOVED Spider-Man PS4 and I was really excited to see what they were gonna do with Miles in his own game) set almost a year after the events of the first game, New York now has a second Spider-Man with Miles Morales who is still trying to learn how to be a hero. Then, Peter Parker decides to leave New York for a bit and leaves New York to Miles who suddenly has to deal with threats like the Tinkerer and the underground and learn what it means to be a hero. First off, the game looks fantastic and the gameplay is still amazing (I love how differently Miles plays from Peter with added abilities like Venom Punch and cloaking but also in the way he moves and acts and it's cool to watch him progress and get better) and I, for the most part, liked the story (I loved watching Miles grow throughout the game and learn to be his own kind of hero and I love the lesson of this game about it not matter where you come from or what you look like, you can be a hero) and the map of New York is once again a blast to swing around and do fun missions in (I especially love the winter setting) In regards to issues, the story can be a little rushed (it's around half the length of PS4 Spider-Man's story and it feels like it sometimes) and some characters I didn't find that interesting (they weren't bad. Like the Tinkerer as a character I didn't really find that compelling) in the end, I had a total blast playing this game and I still can't wait to see more of this world with a great lead character, great world, fun story and missions, epic gameplay and a reminder of why I love Spider-Man.

Every good story needs a villain.
gamerreview9 January 2021
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is an extremely fun game with great gameplay, audio, voice acting and when played on the PS5 is as beautiful a game that I've played, however there's a glaring problem and that problem is the games lack of an truly engaging villain.

Firstly the positives, this game is extremely fun with amazing combat and the swinging is levels above the original. Miles Morales is an engaging character who shows good character progression throughout the game and I found myself preferring him to Peter Parker in Insomniacs Spider-Man. The soundtrack and audio in this game is amazing, and is a beautiful game on performance mode but when played on fidelity mode it's truly breathtaking and shows the true capabilities of the PS5 and makes me extremely exited for strictly next-gen releases in a couple years.

Now onto my problems with the game. I found the villain nowhere near as engaging as the villain is Insomniacs Spider-Man, and quite frankly I found the villains reveal to be extremely predictable, although I thought most of the missions were engaging and extremely fun I also found some absolute duds in there which simply seemed like fillers to extend the games play length.

In conclusion Spider-Man: Miles Morales does some things better than the original and does some things at a breathtaking level, however this game also provides us with an extremely weak and non-engaging villain and also squeezes every last drop out of the story it's providing, and leaves us with some missions that we could have done without and I feel if this game had been longer the game would have been worse so I'm thankful in that respect.

I wanted more.
toews-5506416 November 2020
I won't spoil anything, but I would wait until this goes on sale for 20-30 dollars. I got the platinum in a day. Not worth fifty dollars. The story is a big mess, and is predictable, short, and very cringy at times. However, the gameplay is better than before. Combat is more fun with the addition of venom and camouflage, and swinging just feels way better. This would be a 6/10 if the gameplay didn't feel this good. If you liked the first game, you'll like this one fine. If you think it looks fun, than it will be to you. Personally, the 2018 Spider-Man is in my top 3 games ever, and I was just expecting more from Insomniac. Good, but not great. Wait until it's on sale.

Good but not great
darkwizard40429 December 2020
After a highly successful Spider-Man game in 2018, Insomniac Games decided to follow it up with a spinoff focusing on Miles Morales. The gameplay was highly enjoyable and the bioelectricity possessed by Miles was so much fun to use on enemies. The characters were well written however the story was highly predictable and nowhere near as exciting as the original game.

It's alright, but nothing compared to the first game
Cazdood20 November 2020
I'm a huge fan of the first Spider-Man from insomniac. The story, gameplay, controls and Easter eggs are incredible. Almost a near perfect game which is why when miles appeared i was very excited.

If I'm honest I'm quite disappointed. This game seems like a rushed, less developed version of the first. The gameplay isn't near as good and the areas they've copied from the first game doesn't even translate well. That being said, it's still an insomniac Spider-Man game, therefore the controls are incredible. Web swinging is just as fun and exploration is still good.

All in all, it feels more like an underdeveloped DLC. It seems like insomniac rushed to get the game out for the PS5 release. Yet I love miles and some of the new features were quite good. I hope they do better for the next one.

Paving the way for greatness!
ryanwalton-3961515 March 2021
I really really enjoyed this game. It was similar to the main game in terms of gameplay but tweaked enough so that Miles felt like his own Spiderman in terms of web-swinging and combat.

Story was enjoyable, especially watching Miles develop and grow confidence in becoming his own version of Spiderman.

It left me wanting more and i really look forward to see what they do next!

Fantastic game, looks superb through an OLED
lukeb-1608217 October 2021
Absolutely fantastic game, although quite short it still feels extremely refined. Swinging through the city is a hell of an experience and really takes next gen to the next level.

Definitely play through an OLED tv if you can, some of the colours in certain scenes (especially the ending) really pop and looks beautiful

Overall a fantastic game, albeit shorter than Spider-Man.

Platinum #60
ocesarebr3 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
In my humble opinion, this should be a platinum in all types of games. Do 100% on everything, get all the collectibles, do all the side missions, go to places we would never stop to look at (the Stan Lee statue trophy, for example), play more than once. So we do everything the game can offer us. I know that the vast majority of "platinators" don't like chasing 100% but that's how all platinums should be, without any online or difficulty trophies. Perfect platinum. About the game: wonderful game, engaging story, I managed to get emotional with the final sacrifice that I even cried. Very cool combos. Wonderful fights, characters I didn't know but who won me over. Wonderful graphics, perfect dubbing in Brazilian Portuguese. Platinum #60 Platinum Game on February 2, 2024.

It was good!!
cameronjklenke28 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this game a lot but it's not as good as the first one. It kinda felt like the story was rehashed but with different characters. It also felt like a DLC to the first. It was really short and I wanted more. Again it's good but not great. I love Miles Morales and it was exciting to see him have a game but I was expecting more. It looked like they depended more on side quests than the actual story. The villains are great, but again I wanted more. Overall: Plot:7 (felt rehashed) Characters: 9 (Enjoyable to watch and listen too) Quests: 8 (the side quests seemed like they're main focus for the game. The main story didn't feel new. A good and enjoyable game.

A great apprentice
Mateo-EGC15 August 2022
The game made me connect very well with Miles Morales, he is a character that I like a lot.

The only bad thing is its story, a 2.0 of the first game and I really hate that certain characters with leading roles have a certain friendly or familiar link with Miles Morales, which makes it look very obvious and with too many coincidences. It's still a great game, too enjoyable, with great cinematics and very good gameplay.

In conclusion, I liked the game enough, so I would like to see more stories of the two Spider Man.

Good but, nowhere near as good as its predecessor.
beowolf-4516312 November 2020
There are a few things that have noticeably improved since Spiderman ps4. The graphics look incredible on the ps5 and ps4 versions of the game however, the most impressive thing about the game is the performance mode available on the ps5 version which provides a smooth 60fps performance. This makes the already improved combat feel more responsive and overall a much enjoyable experience. There are a lot of new and improved animations for the characters like more expressive swinging and fighting style from Miles Morales. The one and only issue I have with the game is the story. The story truly feels like a complete downgrade compared to the amazing story of spiderman ps4. The first 25 minutes of the game was absolutely amazing and it set my expectations for everything that was to come however, those expectations were met with pure disappointment. The missions were very boring and they felt like side quests. I had heard that the game was meant to be DLC for Spiderman ps4 and after playing many hours of the game I can truly say that it really does feel like it. The story was dragged out by the side quest like missions that were needed to play to progress the actual story. I was excited to play as Miles Morales but in the end, I wanted to go back to Peter and continue his story.

Great superhero story
jebyvyson20 November 2020
Spider-Man PS4 shows what a Spider-Man story is and how he relates to everyone struggles, Miles Morales is no different. Love how the characters are betrayed, the new direction it went with better gameplay improvements. Only thing I hate is the face changed for Peter Parker, but overall, Insomniac Games did it again. That is all.

Basically a DLC
Foxyojimbo25 November 2020
Pencil thin story, way too short, open plot threads, just a re-skinned city, and I won't even dignify the ending story animation. Fun to play, but never feels like a fully fleshed out game.

Anoying characters, bad writing and unskippable cutscenes. Gameplay is good. Puzzles boring. Two playthroughs for the platnum was painful, becouse of the reasons above.

Another Utter Joy!!
eskimosound30 September 2021
I can't express the joy I felt being able to swing through New York Again!!

This time as the very cool Miles Morales...a very likable character with an excellent technical sidekick.

It's faster than the previous version due to the capability of the PS5 Processor.

It was the most cathartic experience I've ever had, combine that with rounding up baddies, a great soundtrack and really good physics and graphics and there's no wonder this game did so well.

This time round I bought a Sony PS5 especially to play this and it was totally worth it.

It's excellent and I mean really excellent.

You must play it.

Simply one of the best games I've ever played.
Toemoe9812 January 2021
I read the reviews and saw that this game was a bit short; which made me a bit skeptical because I usually don't like short games. The storyline, however, was amazing. Everything you need in a story was there... betrayal, redeem, ... everything.

The combat in this game is so fun and really easy to master whilst still giving you a challenge on higher difficulties. Characters are well-written and stealth is a real option. It's really really good.

It could be in the top 5 storyline-based games I've ever played, with Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Auditore storyline still holding the crown.

However, I think that if you are interested in buying Miles Morales, I would like to point out that you get the remastered Marvel's Spider-Man for only 20,00 EUR more. That's around 30h of gameplay more for that price, and the game itself is definitely worth it.

Conclusion: a great start of the new era, I recommend! 95/100!
