Phil Smyth who appeared in Golden Era as a nemesis to the 36ers appears in this film as the leader that take the 36ers into the new era.
The name of the film came from the fact that in 1998, the South Australian city of Adelaide claimed national championships in nearly every sport. The Adelaide 36ers were joined by the Adelaide Thunderbirds, Adelaide Lightning and the Adelaide Crows as silverware winners. More than 100,000 people filled the city streets for a parade to honor those teams and athletes.
The original directors edit of the film included nearly 10mins of additional stories and rare NBA footage of Darnell Mee and Kevin Brooks but it had to be cut due to rights issues.
