Earlier this year, it was revealed that frequent collaborators Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan – who have worked on Fruitvale Station, Creed, Black Panther, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever together as director and cast member, and have other collaborations that Coogler didn’t direct – have been developing a new project in secret. Coogler has written the script for this project, which is being described as both a genre picture and a period piece that Coogler will be directing and Jordan is attached to star in. The project is set up at Warner Bros., is expected to have a budget of around $90 million, and is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 7, 2025. We still don’t know exactly what this movie is going to be about… but Deadline reports that Jack O’Connell is in talks to play the villain in it.

Zack Snyder is eyeing a “300” TV series with a subversive twist.
The “Rebel Moon” director revealed during an appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast (in the below video) that following his 2007 film and its subsequent 2014 sequel “300: Rise of an Empire,” he wants to explore the historic cinematic universe by way of an episodic structure.
“All my movies are just a little bit weird, in a good way. ‘300,’ for all the like coolness of it as far as like ‘Yeah, let’s go fight,’ it’s still a weirdo movie,” Snyder said.
Podcast host Rogan asked the filmmaker, “Did you ever think about putting a bunch of gay stuff in there?” to which Snyder pointed to Frank Miller and Lynn Varley’s comic book that he adapted for “300.”
“It’s Frank’s book. I made what Frank wrote. And we’ve been talking about doing a...

Angelina Jolie Once Allegedly Refused To Play Bond Girl In Daniel Craig’s Casino Royale Because She Wanted To Be James Bond(Photo Credit –Facebook/IMDb)
Angelina Jolie is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, and James Bond is one of the most iconic film franchises. So imagine Jolie in a Bond film! It would literally blow our minds, and the opportunity had once presented itself to the actress, but she declined the offer to be a Bond girl because she didn’t want to settle for the side character and be the main lead in Casino Royale.
Daniel Craig was seen as 007 in Casino Royale, and his version of the character is undoubtedly one of the best portrayals. The Bond movies exude style and sass and have a genre of their own. Meanwhile, Jolie established herself as a versatile actress, and the sky is the limit for her.

Before Zack Snyder left Warner Bros. behind, he developed a script for what was supposed to be a sequel to 300 titled Blood and Ashes. The studio ultimately passed on the project, but THR has reported that Snyder has regained the rights to the script.
Blood and Ashes wound up having little to do with 300 as it focused on the relationship between Alexander the Great and Haphaestion. Part love story and part ancient Greek war epic, it may have been too much for the studio at the time. Given that the project has no connection with 300, Snyder was able to get the rights back. “We got the rights back so we can make if we want it,” Snyder said. “I don’t know what the marketplace is for an incredibly homoerotic, super violent, super sexual movie. But maybe it’s perfect.“

Zack Snyder may have his hands full launching Rebel Moon, his sci-fi fantasy film that Netflix unveils Dec. 22, but that doesn’t mean the energetic filmmaker isn’t busy developing other projects.
Enter Blood and Ashes. The film began life as a sequel to 300 and 300: Rise of an Empire, and was one of the last projects Snyder worked on before officially leaving Warner Bros. after the debacle that was Justice League. But what he turned in was quite different from a 300 sequel.
Blood and Ashes, which he partially wrote while shooting Army of the Dead for Netflix in 2019, ended up focusing on the relationship between Alexander the Great and his second in command, Haphaestion. It was a gay love story that was also an ancient Greek war epic, one he said then-Warners executive Courtenay Valenti liked and championed.

“Dampyr,” an ambitious live-action movie adaptation of the eponymous cult fantasy franchise from Italy’s independent publisher Sergio Bonelli is launching Oct. 28 in Italian cinemas and opening Lucca Comics & Games, the unique event dedicated to cosplay and comics held in the medieval Tuscan town of Lucca.
Based on the first two comics in the “Dampyr” series, which runs to 300 issues, this 15 million English-language action thriller marks the first feature from the Bonelli Cinematic Universe, which Lucca chief Emanuele Vietina describes as “Italy’s Marvel.” Watch exclusive international clip, above.
Set during the Balkan wars of the early 1990s, the series follows Harlan, who is haunted by nightmares as he wanders the countryside making money pretending to be a Dampyr – half human, half vampire – ridding villages of what residents believe are evil monsters. When summoned by soldiers who are under attack by real vampires, Harlan finds out the truth: he is a real Dampyr.
The “Dampyr” comics were created by Mauro Boselli and Maurizio Colombo and written by Giovanni Masi, Alberto Ostini, and Mauro Uzzeo.
In the movie Wade Briggs (“Please Like Me”) plays Harlan, the Dampyr; Stuart Martin (“Jamestown) is Emil Kurjak, a former soldier who is Harlan’s sidekick; and Frida Frida Gustavsson (“Arne Dahl”) plays Tesla, a vampire who is Harlan’s partner.
The cast also includes Dvid Morrissey (“Good Omens”) as Gorka, Sebastian Croft (“Game of Thrones”) as Yuri, and Luke Roberts (“300: Rise of an Empire”) as Draka.
“Dampyr,” which was shot in various locations in Romania, is helmed by first-timer Riccardo Chemello, who cut his teeth directing commercials for, among others, Red Bull, Disney, and Armani.
A seasoned crew includes Giorgio Gregorini, who won the Oscar for Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling for “Suicide Squad,” Vladimir Furdik (”Skyfall”) as fight choreographer, Lubomir Misak (“Game of Thrones”) as stunt coordinator, and Giovanni Casalnuovo (“Wanted”) as costume designer.
The producers are Roberto Proia for Eagle Pictures, Vincenzo Sarno for Sergio Bonelli Editore and Andrea Sgaravatti for Brandon Box.

Contains spoilers for Pieces of Her episodes one to four
Netflix’s thriller Pieces of Her is based on a novel by the aptly named best selling author Karin Slaughter. Though it’s set in America, the whole of the series was shot in Australia with the majority of filming taking place in 2021, and many of the cast are Antipodeans and Brits as well as Americans.
It’s a twisty tale of a mother who carries out an act of bravery which suddenly exposes her to a world she had long since left behind, and a daughter who discovers she really doesn’t know her mum at all. Pay attention! But in case you’re distracted by the niggling sense of ‘where do a recognise them from?’ we’re here to remind you.

In 1990, Brenner won the Academy Award for film editing with director Oliver Stone’s “Born on the Fourth of July,” starring Tom Cruise. He shared the award with editor John Hutshing. Stone recruited Brenner to edit nine of his films, including “Platoon,...

Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead isn't your average zombie movie. The zombies that reside in Snyder's apocalyptic Las Vegas are fast-paced, intelligent, and organized, presenting a lethal threat of the utmost degree. There's a bonkers Elvis Presley impersonator and an undead tiger, and the whole flesh-eating bunch is led by zombie king Zeus (played by Rich Cetrone) and zombie alpha Queen (played by Athena Perample). These zombies have some semblance of human intelligence and are hell-bent on keeping other species from invading their community. Much like animals and humans, they have a social hierarchy among their kind, with the leaders communicating with their kingdom in sentient ways. To bring these alpha roles to life, Snyder appointed seasoned stunt professionals.

We almost had ourselves a third 300 movie. Sort of. Zack Snyder, director of the first 300 and co-writer of the sequel 300: Rise of an Empire, recently revealed he wrote another 300 sequel that then turned into a love story about Alexander the Great and his general Hephaestion. However, Warner Bros. passed on the project, either because they didn’t […]

Zack Snyder first dipped his toe into the realm of comic-book movies with 300, a highly stylized retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae adapted from the comic by Frank Miller. Snyder co-wrote the film and returned nearly a decade later to co-write 300: Rise of an Empire, and while speaking on The Playlist's The Fourth Wall podcast, Snyder revealed that he wrote what could have been…...

“300” was the first movie Zack Snyder made at Warner Bros., and it marked the start of a partnership that lasted 15 years between the filmmaker and the studio. Adapted from Frank Miller and Lynn Varley’s comic book, “300” grossed $456 million worldwide and started a franchise that continued in 2014 with the Snyder co-penned “300: Rise of an Empire.” The sequel underperformed with $337 million worldwide. However, Snyder tells The Playlist that Warner Bros. was apparently interested in continuing the “300” franchise to the point that he wrote a script for the third entry during the pandemic.
“I just couldn’t really get my teeth into it,” Snyder said. “Over the pandemic, I had a deal with Warner Bros. and I wrote what was essentially going to be the final chapter in ‘300.’ But when I sat down to write it I actually wrote a different movie. When Warner Bros. greenlit Zack Snyder’s return to the troubled “Justice League,” vastly expanding and reediting the film into a new edition that debuts March 18 on HBO Max, one of Snyder’s first calls was to composer Tom Holkenborg.
The Dutch-born, L.A.-based composer (known in the pop world as Junkie Xl) had written some 40 minutes of music for the original “Justice League” back in 2016, before Snyder departed the project and was replaced by Joss Whedon (who in turn brought in Danny Elfman as composer).
Holkenborg — who had collaborated with Hans Zimmer on Snyder’s two previous DC Universe movies, “Man of Steel” and “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” — looked at the earlier music and asked Snyder: “Would you mind if I start over?” The director’s response, per the composer: “‘The shackles are off. Go for it. Do whatever you feel is right.’”

Lorenzo Senatore vividly recalls the moment when he found that Scott Eastwood, the leading man in his new movie “The Outpost,” had broken his ankle just weeks before filming was to start. “We had to shut down for three weeks and shift the schedule around so as to not have him shoot first as had been in the original. He was in 70% of the movie. But it gave us a chance for some extra prep, so in the end everything worked out for the best.” Senatore was part of Gold Derby’s Meet the Btl Experts panel, conducted virtually by this writer (watch above).

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set for release in the summer of 2021. That’s a little over a year from now and yet, they no longer have a director after Scott Derrickson and Marvel agreed to part ways. They’ve also yet to cast the villain.
With production set to begin soon, those are two very important roles to fill. Of course, there’s been speculation that Nightmare will be making an appearance as the main antagonist and despite the role being played by a man in the comics, fans have been campaigning for Eva Green to get the part.
There’s no word yet from the studio on if she’s actually being considered for the role, but while speaking with Total Film magazine, the actress was asked if she’d been approached by Marvel and had this to say:
“Me? No! Not that I know of.

The Sorcerer Supreme will be returning in just a couple of years to save the Earth from mystical threats, as his upcoming sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was confirmed earlier this month at Comic-Con. We know that Benedict Cumberbatch’s magic man will be joined by Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch for the movie, which should be an exciting new pairing in the McU, but we don’t yet know who’ll they’ll be teaming up to defeat.
However, all the signs are pointing to Nightmare serving as Doctor Strange 2‘s main villain. The comic book character is the demonic ruler of the Dream Dimension, which could explain the horror movie influences that we’ve been told to expect from the pic. He’s a lesser-known foe from the Marvel universe, though, so the filmmakers should have freedom to do what they like with him. Like...

Fresh off Game of Thrones, Lena Headey is set to star in Rita, a subversive Showtime comedy pilot.
Lena Headey’s eight years in the role of the imperious, calculatingly cruel, shallow-end-of-the-gene-pool-fishing Cersei Lannister may seem to distance the actress from the concept of comedy, but that, indeed, is what the former Game of Thrones star has just procured, with a new TV pilot, with Showtime, called Rita.
Back in June, Showtime announced its pilot order for Rita, an adaptation of the 2012-2017 Danish series of the same name, in which Lena Headey will star as its title character, who’s described as “a headstrong, unconventional teacher and single mother who takes on every kind of authority – as well as her family – in a messy and unfiltered way.” Danish actress Mille Dinesen played the role in the original series.

‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ Didn’t Roar at the Domestic Box Office but Legendary Isn’t Sweating
Legendary Entertainment’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” didn’t stomp through North American movie theaters, instead treading to just $49 million in its opening weekend — roughly half that of its 2014 predecessor.
But Legendary, founded by Thomas Tull and owned by the Chinese conglomerate Wanda Group since 2016, isn’t sweating the early returns for the film, which had a kaiju-size budget of $170 million, according to BoxOfficeMojo. The studio is breathing easy because its focus is very much overseas, where the film grossed a solid $130 million — including $70 million in China alone.
“Over the past few years, they have been focusing on blockbuster style films that often see the majority of their box office coming from the international marketplace,” Paul Dergarabedian, senior analyst at ComScore, said. “If you look at the money the films have made — even just the MonsterVerse — it’s a huge amount of money… There’s a huge international interest in these films.
