Not exactly sophisticated, but it's awfully funny
planktonrules22 November 2008
This short film certainly won't be a contender for an Oscar, as it certainly is NOT to be confused with a sophisticated comedy. However, despite having relatively low production values, it manages something many more expensive projects don't--it's awfully funny and very creative.

Two knuckleheads wander into an Asian store (much like in the movie GREMLINS) and accidentally walk out with a magic toaster that turns bread into gold. However, their new-found wealth is at risk when the shop owner unleashes two goons to retrieve the toaster. When all is said and done, the film ends with a cute twist.

Now I'll be the first to say the film isn't great art. After all, the dialog is a bit coarse and one of the Asian goons is inexplicably dressed like a sumo guy! Having this guy running about town in a mawashi (the diaper-like outfit worn in the ring by sumo wrestlers) is silly PLUS the shop is Chinese and sumo is Japanese! However, despite all this (and a bit more), the film is highly inventive, cute and will make all but the biggest curmudgeons laugh. I'd love to see more from these folks.
