Just like Friends and The Office, Parks and Recreation is a show that we keep going back to. One rewatch is never enough now, is it? While the first season received mixed reviews from critics and was often compared to The Office, the series had a brilliant comeback starting from the second season. The show stars Adam Scott, Chris Pratt, Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, and more.
A still from Parks and Recreation (2009 – 2015)
The show ended in 2015 but the cast reunited for a special reunion episode in 2020 before closing the chapter for good. But that doesn’t mean fans cannot keep holding on to that thread of hope of seeing their favorite characters return, right? In a recent interview, Adam Scott gets candid about the possibility of gathering the cast for an actual Parks and Recreation reboot.

Before Chris Pratt donned the iconic Star-Lord suit in the MCU, he was known as the lovable Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation. Pratt’s characters prior to his superhero transformation often embodied a larger physique, evidenced by his deliberate weight gain of 60 pounds for the film Delivery Man, because he believed it suited the character.

Thus, prior to slipping into the sleek Star-Lord suit, Pratt naturally had to undergo a remarkable physical metamorphosis, shedding the extra weight to fully embody the iconic superhero.

Netflix’s new show Fiasco by Igor Gotesman is an absolute riot! It’s all about this filmmaker, Raphael Valande, trying to make a movie called “Woman of Resistance,” which is inspired by his grandma, Huguette Valande. And, oh boy, does it have more twists and turns than you could ever imagine? Picture The Office or Parks and Recreation, but in the chaotic world of filmmaking. So, Raphael, bless his heart, has about as much authority as a fluffy bunny. He’s super passionate but totally clueless about how to take charge on set as a director. But then, in a desperate attempt to be the boss, he goes overboard, and everything starts to spiral out of control faster than you can say “cut!” And then, bam! Someone sneaks out a video of Raphael completely losing it on set. I’m talking about everything from making cringeworthy, sexist comments to...

After 12 seasons, Curb Your Enthusiasm has come to a close. Seinfeld co-creator Larry David played a curmudgeonly version of himself for 120 episodes of the semi-improvised cringe comedy, which was nominated for 47 Emmy Awards over the course of its run.
But all good things must come to an end, which Curb Your Enthusiasm did in April of 2024. Luckily, one of Cye’s stars has a perfect replacement series on Netflix.

Jb Smoove played Leon Black in Cye for the last half of the series. He was introduced in season 6 as the brother of Larry’s love interest Loretta Black.
After Hurricane Katrina destroys her home, single mom Loretta moves her family in with Larry. Leon ends up tagging along with his sister (even though he already lived in LA and was unaffected by the hurricane), and sticks around to be Larry’s roommate even after Loretta leaves.

Actor Adam Scott, who was recently seen by some movie-goers in Madame Web, has chosen the project he wants to make his feature directorial debut with – and while Scott is probably best known for his performances in comedy projects like Knocked Up, Step Brothers, Parks and Recreation, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, Ghosted, and Party Down, he’s not going to be directing a comedy. Instead, his first directorial effort is a revenge thriller called Double Booked, which he’ll also be starring in… and Deadline reports that he has chosen a great supporting cast to surround himself with. The newest ‘Law & Order’ spin-off has seen consistently better ratings on Peacock than on linear NBC to this point.
Eliot Stabler is coming back for at least one more ride. Exclusive: Now that we know the competition slates, it’s time to bring out the star packages that will line the Cannes Market. Here’s one inspirational movie package that ought to register strongly with the buying crowd. Way of The Warrior Kid is slated to begin production this summer, with Chris Pratt starring and McG directing a Will Staples-scripted adaptation of the the novel by Jock Willink. He is the retired Navy Seal who found a thriving second career as podcast host, bestselling author and motivational speaker.
UTA Independent Film Group and FilmNation will introduce the script shortly. If it’s as good as the backstories here, it ought to be a hot property. It’s a youth empowerment tale, only the title character isn’t waving a magic wand or wearing spandex. He’s a self-doubting kid who gets bullied and is hard pressed to complete a single pullup.

The NBCUniversal streamer continues to make small, but steady climbs in its quest for streaming survival.
Comcast’s flagship streaming service Peacock has been on a slow but steady climb since launching in 2020. While still amongst the smaller platforms from major media companies, it is no longer an easily ignored also-ran, seemingly fighting for scraps as the streaming world threatened to leave it behind. Now boasting a robust offering of live sports, hit movies, and increasingly compelling original series, following the first quarter of 2024, Peacock added 3 million new customers to cap its year-over-year growth at 55%. During the same period in 2023, the streamer reported having 22 million paying customers, now that total sits at 34 million.
Key Details: Peacock added 3 million customers in Q1 and 12 million year-over-year. The streamer brought in $1.1 billion in revenue during the first three months of 2024. However, it is still operating at a $639M quarterly loss. Sign Up $5.99+ / month peacocktv.

We suppose this news was inevitable.
In the age of spinoffs, reboots, and ever-expanding franchises, a show as popular as The Office was going to return from the dead at some point.
Not only did the original series run for nine seasons on NBC, the Steve Carell-led cringe comedy has proven surprisingly successful with subsequent generations, becoming Netflix's most-streamed show before being reclaimed by Peacock.
When a series enjoys that sort of lingering popularity with zero promotion nearly a decade since its last new episode, you can be certain that some sort of reboot is coming.

Not only that, the show has already cast two series leads.

Nick Offerman has been winning accolades for his role as the President of the United States in his latest film, Civil War. He is a seasoned actor, and even though he made a name for himself as a comedian, Offerman is very versatile. The Parks and Recreation actor gets to flex his more creative muscles in the film.
Offerman’s journey to becoming one of the most beloved actors in the industry did not come very easily, though. He struggled for years as a theater artist before he made his big break. The actor’s misfortune even saw him spend a night in jail, long before his villainous turn as president in Civil War.

Former Netflix Head of Comedy Jane Wiseman is joining Jane Featherstone and Liz Murdoch‘s Sister entertainment group in a newly created position as Head of U.S. Television. Based in Los Angeles, Wiseman will report to Cindy Holland, Sister’s Global CEO, and will lead the company’s U.S. television business, specifically focused on development and production of premium scripted series.
This is the second senior member of Holland’s executive team at Netflix, where she led original TV content for many years, that she has brought to Sister since joining the company in July. In October, Efrain Miron was named to another newly created position as President, Strategy and Business Affairs, with a focus on the U.S. studio and portfolio companies.
Building out Sister’s U.S. operation under Holland has been a major priority as the company is plotting further expansion and a path to profitability.

Good Fortune Footage Reaction: Keanu Reeves Is Aziz Ansari's Literal Guardian Angel [CinemaCon 2024]
Aziz Ansari was a big name in comedy in the 2010s, not just from memorable roles in shows like "Parks and Recreation," but also his stellar turn as creator of the acclaimed Netflix comedy "Master of None." Ansari was set to make his directorial debut back in 2022 with "Being Mortal," but that film was shut down following sexual harassment allegations against Bill Murray, the star of the film. Not helping here were the sexual misconduct accusations against Ansari himself back in 2018.
Now, Ansari is ready to try again, making his feature directorial debut with "Good Fortune." The film is set to star Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer, and Sandra Oh, which is a mighty impressive cast — anyone doubting Keanu's comedic timing needs to remember the "Bill & Ted" movies and also watch his stellar performance in "Always Be My Maybe."

Abbott Elementary is returning for a fourth season, and we're busting out the Gritty merch to celebrate.
But will next season be the last one for Quinta Brunson's breakout hit, or can we expect to see our favorite Philly teachers for years to come?
In a recent interview with Elle, Brunson provided some insight into her plans for the smash hit sitcom.
Brunson, an Emmy winner with a long list of accolades (including being the first Black woman to receive three comedy Emmy nominations), is a Philadelphia native who developed Abbott Elementary as a love letter to her city.
Raised in Philadelphia public schools, Brunson also had the benefit of being raised by a kindergarten teacher: her mother, Norma Jean.
Brunson has a mile-long list of credits as a writer, producer, director, and actor, proving that she can wear a plethora of hats in the industry.

Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman are no strangers to committing to the bit. Poehler shared that she and Offerman used to make out while filming Parks and Recreation in an attempt to get the moment into the show’s blooper reel.
“Nick and I used to do a thing every year for the blooper reel where we would end a scene by making out, and the crew would hate it,” Poehler told The Independent UK in an oral history celebrating the 15th anniversary of NBC’s beloved sitcom. “Everybody hated it, and it really made us laugh.”
Poehler played Leslie Knope, the deputy director of the (fictional) Pawnee, Indiana, Parks and Recreation Department. Her forever upbeat optimism was balanced by Nick Offerman’s Ron Swanson, a cynical libertarian working as the director of Parks and Rec.

It's been 15 years since Parks and Recreation introduced us to the crazy characters of Pawnee, Indiana.
It's a show that feels like it's always been around -- a pop culture mainstay -- and yet it's only been 15 years.
After a bumpy start with an awkward first season, Parks & Rec became one of the greatest comedies on television.
It gave us everything: characters we couldn't help loving (or hating), romances that warmed our hearts, and a satisfying conclusion that gave us a glimpse into where all our favorites ended up.
One thing that sets Parks & Rec apart from many of its contemporaries is its focus on platonic relationships.
Sure, there were some great romantic relationships. Leslie and Ben showed us what true love looks like, April and Andy gave us the weird combo we didn't know we needed, and Ron and Tammy 2 taught us that even the most level-headed...

Buckle up, Parks & Rec fans, because this one is going to feel personal.
This week, Parks & Recreation celebrates 15 years since its premiere. It's a monumental anniversary, especially for a show that is still beloved by fans around the world.
For fifteen years, Leslie Knope has been high on the list of the best characters of all time. With a heart of gold, ambition for days, and an unmatched love for her community, Leslie captured our affections from the very first episode.
The Leslie Knope of 2009 was a passionate and tenacious go-getter who fiercely loved her friends, her neighbors, and her job. When we watch the show back, we still see her passion and tenacity.
But did she and her fellow Parks employees have flaws that we overlooked because fifteen years ago, we didn't know any better? How well does the show hold up today when viewed through a modern lens?...

“Parks and Recreation” debuted April 9, 2009, just three months after Barack Obama’s inauguration. A perfect alignment, one might think, considering how much the NBC sitcom embodied the 44’s “Yes we can” spirit. However, the tone of its much-neglected, much-derided first season was more akin to the Bush era: cynical, polarizing, and slightly clueless.
Subsequently, its opening six episodes have largely been consigned to history: the general advice to newcomers is skip them entirely and start with the sunnier second season. But while the show undoubtedly benefited from its course correction, its initial glimpse into the fictional Pawnee’s madcap P&r department isn’t the disaster often purported.
Much of the criticism inevitably focused on its similarities to “The Office.” The show was conceived as a spin-off from the corporate satire after all, and shares a creator (Greg Daniels), cast member (Rashida Jones), and mockumentary format. Its premiere was even...

When Parks and Recreation debuted on NBC on April 9, 2009, did anyone expect it to become one of the most beloved TV comedies of recent history? That first season only got so-so reviews and unfavorable comparisons to its mockumentary predecessor, The Office. But you can’t keep Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) down. Parks and Rec’s second season humanized the show’s lead character and deepened the quirky personalities of her team at the Parks Department of the fictional Pawnee, Indiana, and viewers were duly hooked. Now here we are 15 years after the series premiere, and we suggest you “treat yo’self” to the following episodes, rated as the series’ best by IMDb voters. 10. When A Romantic Beach Getaway Turned Almost Fatal For Chris Pratt – Here’s What Happened Next! (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Sometimes, romantic escapades turn into a dreadful experience and stay engraved in people’s minds. Many of you would agree with this. At least the Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt would! The actor once had a near-fatal incident on a romantic break, and that was years even before his relationship with Anna Faris. During the promotion of his film The Magnificent Seven, the actor shared this frightful incident several years ago.
Chris gained recognition and fame as Andy Dwyer in the Parks and Recreation series, and after appearing in several movies as a supporting actor, his breakthrough came after playing Star-Lord in the MCU and as Owen Grady in the Jurassic World films. Pratt has also lent his voice in several animated movies and for the lead character. Some...

A24 is a studio that has built up a good name over the last decade and change in Hollywood. It's a name that means something to moviegoers, and that's no small thing. But as the studio looks to compete in an increasingly volatile Hollywood landscape, minor theatrical successes like "Priscilla" and disastrous flops such as "Under the Silver Lake" aren't going to cut it anymore. So, the studio is going bigger and making its biggest bet ever with Alex Garland's "Civil War." The question is, can this politically-charged, unconventional war film break through like a more conventional blockbuster?
Given that Garland's latest carries a $50 million budget, A24 is certainly hoping so. The good news is that the initial numbers suggest that this one will be a winner, at least in the early going. "Civil War" is eyeing an opening between $18 and $24 million when it arrives next weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Leslie Knope & Michael Scott: How Two Very Different Bosses Set the Tone of Their Respective Sitcoms
It's been 15 years this month since Parks & Rec began dazzling us with its relatable humor and made the cast household names.
With our multiple-article celebration, we'll look at several aspects of the beloved sitcom, including how closely it related to its partner, The Office, despite having two distinct perspectives.
The Office and Parks and Recreation often run together in the minds of sitcom fans of a particular era. Both shows aired on NBC and overlapped for many of the same years.
Both were in the mockumentary genre, and both shows achieved popularity and award attention. Both had a second life in the early days of binge-streaming when new audiences discovered them.
Both were set in workplaces, and both were put in a smallish city in which the universe of characters sprawled continuously over the run of the show.

John does call Molly in the premiere episode, but she tells him that what happened in Corsica was a mistake. He thinks they’re meant for each other, but she’s absolutely repulsed by the man and his money (and the entire garden of flowers he sends to her office). Despite their frosty chat,...

Peacock wants to get nostalgic with some of Bravo’s most famous past titles, including ‘The Rachel Zoe Project,’ ‘Million Dollar Listing’ and more.
The 2023 strikes from Hollywood’s biggest actors and writers’ unions were eminently avoidable, but studios chose to play hardball with union reps and force work stoppages. TV networks and streaming services are just now getting their scripted titles back on screens, but Peacock is pulling a move that might make audiences think the strikes are still going! This month, Peacock will be adding over 15 titles pulled from the pile of unscripted reality shows from Bravo’s past; old fan-favorites like “The Real Housewives of D.C.” and many more are coming to the platform in April.
Newly imported Bravo titles will begin arriving on Peacock on April 15. Sixteen titles have been announced for the rollout, and Peacock pledges that more will be included. Peacock is already home...

Tulsa King season 2 has now started shooting, and Deadline reports that Craig Zisk (Weeds) has signed on to direct and executive produce the Paramount+ series.
It was reported last year that showrunner Terence Winter would be stepping down from the series following some creative differences with creator Taylor Sheridan. However, he decided to come back as a writer for the second season, which would keep his interactions with Sheridan at a minimum.
While Winter is still involved as an executive producer, he will primarily focus on writing for the show as well as working closely with Sylvester Stallone. “He loves these characters and loved working with Sly and was glad his post-strike schedule allowed him to return to write but not run the show,” a source said. Instead of bringing in another showrunner, the production decided to follow in the footsteps of the other shows produced by Sheridan’s 101 Studios...
