When the nouns flash on the screen in the beginning, the proper names shown, Tom, Lynn, and George, are all those of contributors to the show: producer-writers Tom Yohe and George Newall, and the writer and singer for this song among others, Lynn Ahrens.
Lynn Ahrens' very first song for "Schoolhouse Rock!". Ahrens was a copywriter at McCaffrey and McCall and would often bring her guitar with her to work and write songs in her spare time. When producer George Newall saw Ahrens' guitar, she played a song she wrote for him, and he told her about the "Grammar Rock!" series. A few days later, Ahrens shared "A Noun is a Person, Place or Thing" with him and the rest is history.
