The telecast was live from New York and was sponsored by ''C.A. Swanson and Sons of Omaha, Nebraska, packers of America's best-known brand of canned and frozen poultry.''
The contestants were: Mrs. Dorothy LAMOUR (same name as the sarong-wearing actress), Miss A. STORK, Master Tommy MANVILLE (same name as the multiply-married playboy heir) and Mr. Henry CLAY (same name as the U.S. statesman). In the celebrity ''I'd Like to Be'' segment, baseball player Mickey MANTLE wished he was England's Prince Philip.
The fourth non-celebrity contestant, Mr. Henry Clay, had been backstage for numerous prior telecasts to fill time if a fifth contestant was needed. ''Mr. Clay has been our 'Pad for Time' for many, many weeks,'' said moderator Robert Q. Lewis.
