When Lena tries to shoot out her magic without the amulet, she takes on the pose of a hadouken from the Street Fighter (1987) video game series, which like with the video games from the classic DuckTales video games DuckTales (1989), DuckTales 2 (1993), and DuckTales: Remastered (2013) was also produced by Capcom.
Part of the training that Lena goes through involves polishing the windows, something that was also done as part of Mr. Miyagi's training in The Karate Kid (1984) and the 2010 reboot of the same name.
The gauntlet which Phantom Blot wears has some similarity in appearance to the Infinity Gauntlet from the Marvel Cinematic Universe which was worn by Thanos, most notably in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). The scene when the Blot is tied up while Webby tries to pull off the glove is reminiscent of a memorable scene from 'Infinity Wars.'
Though Donald does not appear in this episode, Gladstone is briefly transformed into him through magic.
This episode has a similar plot to the original DuckTales (1987) episode "Magica's Shadow War", which also had Magica teaming up with the good guys to help with defeating an enemy to them both.
