Daughter looks older than the mother
chaychay-0128912 April 2023
Very mediocre acting, except for the mother, Gale who carries the show. The daughter, Becca, who looks like she's 30 years old is made to be very unlikeable because of how disrespectful she is to her mother. Not all teens are like this, I wish they would quit portraying them this way so much. Also, parents like Gale who just stand there and let their children insult them and disrespect them is another trend in movies that needs to stop. This movie seems very low budget, even for a lifetime movie. If you're into lifetime movies (I'm not, but I was home sick from work and nothing else was on), then you probably enjoyed this. Otherwise, it's corny and painfully predictable.

Have a few drinks and enjoy the movie!!
mja5817 March 2021
This was the usual LMN movie which was fun to watch. My comments:

1. The mother and daughter once again looked like older / younger sisters. Attention make-up department!

2. The pool boy had charm, but what's with all the tattoos?

3. The reasons given by the pool boy for the insanity were kinda shocking.

4. If anything, wait for the end hairdryer and bathtub used to dispatch the sick bad guy - over the top!

Very nice thriller
kyleallencole913 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Not bad for a lifetime movie, but seems like this one should of been a netflix movie instead. Definitely has a delicious and hunky psycho in this one!! The film starts with an unseen assailant who murders a woman in her swimming pool, then shifts to a woman and her daughting moving into the home months later. The mother thinks nothing of the crime until they find a tooth stuck in the drain of her swimming pool and she begins to suspect the hunk pool boy may of had something to do with the death. This movie is similar to other ones though, the mom having a torrid affair with a younger guy, who then gets rejected and dates the daughter in order to seek revenge. Just with the sexy pool guy and his psycho character makes this a good one!!

Predictable, Bad Actor in lead.
bucs-2400122 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First off.....why does every family in every Lifetime Movie live in a expensive mansion? Can't we see a normal house??

Second....the lead actor mumbles like WWE wrestler "The Big Show" and needs some more acting lessons.

Lastly.....Once you see secondary characters like the "best friend" and the ex-hubby, you know they are in trouble.

"Prince Gorgeous" is a Fraud
lavatch21 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
"In Pool Boy Nightmare," the title character, Adam Lance, has committed multiple homicides prior to meeting Gale Foley and her daughter Becca. He promptly seduces the mother, then starts dating the daughter. Young Becca seems to believe she has met her "Prince Gorgeous." By by the end of the film, it is difficult to empathize with either Gale or Beeca, due to their poor judgment.

My favorite character was Jackie, the bestie of young Becca. It was Jackie who almost instantly recognized a problem with Adam, whom she cannot locate on social media. But Becca refuses to heed Jackie's advice and plunges into a disastrous encounter with Adam.

The triangulated relationship of Gale, Adam, and Becca has to be one of the messiest imaginable. Gale improbably began her one-timer with Adam when he was giving her a massage. When she tried to break off the relationship, it started to dawn on Gale that the young man was obsessed with her.

Gale then enlists her ex-husband, Tony, requesting that he confront the pool boy. As a result, Tony is hospitalized for serious burns after Adam placed a chemical in Tony's jacuzzi. Gale, Becca, and Tony all make their predicament uglier with their flawed decision-making.

The film was a by-the-numbers thriller without many thrills. It was difficult to believe that the police had not investigated the circumstances of the death of Adam's previous victim, Rhonda Phillips, who was murdered in her swimming, pool, then dragged into the house and placed in the bathtub. The film's ending was also strange as Gale shut the door of the family home, and the screen went to blackout with no denouement.

"Prince Gorgeous" turned out to be a one-dimensional villain. One can only wonder if the main characters have learned anything from a calamity they brought on themselves.

Unrealistic storyline
Graigslist10 September 2020
Movie starts pretty good but gets very unrealistic as it progresses. Unrealistic storyline and the ending is also hard to believe as if what the mother does in the end would work in real life. Better skip this one.

Nothing new but it's got something
susank-1573522 October 2020
I actually really enjoyed this one, granted it's totally predictable and nothing brand new. There's something about Lifetime movies that just suck me right in.

Terrible audio throughout, continuity flubs, loose ends
deedrala23 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
'Pool Boy Nightmare' (2020)

When will Lifetime stop mixing people talking with loud music? Apparently they don't want the viewers to hear the dialogue. Even in the scenes without music, the audio was bad quality. Some of the lines were unintelligible or sounded like they were spoken in a vacuum.

Casting left a lot to be desired: Jessica Morris has been the lead actress in too many Lifetime flicks already, just like several other actresses in other movies. You'd think there were only 5 or 6 actresses in the world the way they keep using the same ones over and over. And the daughter was sorely miscast - I don't mean to sound shallow but they surely could have found someone more attractive and likeable.

Speaking of unattractive: the pool boy actor wasn't bad-looking, but he was oddly out of proportion; with a bigger head, neck, and upper body than his lower half.

I've mentioned this in previous reviews but I must repeat it here: WHY does every lead character and their daughter/son in Lifetime flicks live in huge ornate mansions?? SO unrealistic, especially when the mother either doesn't even work or complains about not being able to make ends meet and pay the bills on time. Just once I'd like to see them live in a middle class ranch-style house with only 2 bedrooms and no pool, like most people do.

Continuity errors: Adam's beard growth fluctuated from clean-shaven to several days growth in the same 8-minute scene, and when he beat himself up to blame it on the dad, he sent photos of his bruised, beaten torso to Becca. But the next day or so when they went to a random house to the pool and he took off his shirt, there were no bruises at all - just perfectly normal uninjured skin. Even if he had used makeup to paint the bruises on, and washed it off before the date with Becca, she should've noticed his flawless skin and asked him where all those bruises went.

As for another reviewer here saying the ending couldn't have happened - I don't see why not. It looked possible to me, and for once it was different than most other Lifetime endings with the same basic plotline and premise of psycho stalker making their victim's life miserable for 2 hours until the climax.

Nothing about this one made it stand out from all the other formulaic LMN stuff. Same basic story with new guy playing the psycho.

Regular...

The story follows Gale as she has a brief affair with pool cleaner Adam, but quickly refuses his continued advances. Insulted at being rejected, Adam begins dating Gale's school-aged daughter Becca, using her as an unsuspecting pawn in a twisted game of revenge.

Marathoning the Lifetime channel movies for a week, and always more of the same, a ready-made recipe, pleasant, cynical and forced, I love it, low-budget independent films, simple script, bureaucratic actions, all very simple and sounding almost fake, a piscineiro hot and psycho, or rather, mentally unbalanced, in love with MILF, adorable, if he didn't have murderous, depressive and psychotic tendencies...

Jessica Morris makes this watchable
vbacon-111-57832917 March 2021
Veteran actress Jessica Morris provides solid acting which pulls together the poorer performances of the others. Was especially not impressed with the young newcomer Tanner Zagarino. He's handsome enough but definitely needs to work on his acting skills. The two young women give average performances.

As for the plot, another reviewer wrote "Nothing new but it's got something". I couldn't have said it better. If you've seen a lot of other LMN movies you won't be too surprised by this one. I am one of those that enjoys these movies and I enjoyed this one so I'll give it a 7.

Mind-Numbing
elvisleeboy30 June 2023
Dim females will undoubtedly enjoy this and remain unfazed at the appalling dialogue, the mind-numbingly predictable storyline and the insufferable idiot characters

Those who possess the brain power to operate a light-switch however, would be better advised to make more constructive use of that time, like counting the blades of grass on their lawn for example.

On the plus side, those homeless people whose circumstances render them with no access to a television screen, can console themselves on those long, cold nights with the knowledge that they will at least be spared this monumental assault upon humanity.

The pool boy nightmare
coltras3522 September 2023
Still fresh from a divorce from her cheating husband, Gale Foley (Jessica Morris) hopes that her new house will mean a fresh start for her and her teenage daughter Becca (Ellie Darcey-Alden). Her new home also comes with a pool, which is how Gale meets Adam Lance (Tanner Zagarino), the pool cleaner for the home's previous owner. Charmed by Adam's good looks and suave personality, Gale takes on Adam as her own pool boy--and ends up sharing a passionate fling with the young man. However she immediately regrets her action and breaks it off with the pool boy, saying that it was a mistake and can't happen again, but as this is a thriller - and a Lifetime thriller more accurately- the Pool boy doesn't accept this and shows a vengeful side by romancing her daughter as a means of getting back at her. As Gale tries to get Adam out of her and her daughter's lives, her former lover's obsession proves more twisted than she could imagine...

A fairly formulaic "Scorned Lover" drama that Lifetime can do in its sleep, but it's still fun with adequate bouts of suspense and thrills, if a little tame. It's well acted, especially by the pool boy who switches from romantic to psycho with ease. You do sort of feel sorry for him but his penchant for pouring bleach in a swimming pool burning his girlfriend's dad and self inflicting injuries so the dad can take the blame shows how ill he is.

a deliciously disturbing thriller
sinnerofcinema11 September 2020
Even tho a bit predictable, this film has its moments - but when it does take off towards the end, its a rocket launch! It seemed a bit cookie cutter, but it did take some detours from the usual and that is always a pleasant surprise. A great treat to keep you at the edge of your seat during pandemic times.

Older guy younger woman, older woman younger guy, why not?
aocsincher21 October 2020
Interesting story, decent actors, fun story to follow. JM seems to have gotten too thin for Hollywood movies so now she does LMN. One thing that I am confused about is "why do women who do not need them, wear them"? Otherwise, I confess that I watched to the end and so should you.
