I Invite You to Come & Camp Out for 90 Minutes... on "Misery Lane"!
Come and "Camp Out" for 90 minutes on "Misery Lane"! At first, that's where I felt I had been banished for Posting this Review!!! (The family in this "so bad it's REALLY good" little gem actually live at 2556 Misery Lane & I'm not making this up!) This movie was NOT in my queue...
Catch Your Mind (I'm still trying to figure out the connection of the title, if any, to the movie) Is a TOTAL bomb, which is lovable for all the following reasons: Halfway through the film, after the teenage protagonist shouts to a guy who is haranguing him, "Behave yourself !", I said to myself, this dialog was not written by a native-speaker of English. There wasn't any info on IMDb about writer/director Swamy M. Kandan, but after teaching ESL for 45 years, let me assure you, English is his second language!
O. K., you expect the actors in a movie to be professionals, right? No one in "Catch" exhibited anything even close to a minimal professional acting standard. In fact, if you define a minimal amateur acting standard as the ability to deliver your lines so they don't sound as if they are being read out loud, most of the cast of "Catch" fall short of that criterion! The male lead does some of the worst acting I've ever seen in my entire life!
Ahhh! There's the rub! The end result produced a lot more (unintended) laughter than you'd expect from about 80% of today's "Comedies"! The editing was obviously off several times. Some lines were clearly flubbed, and instead of doing another take, the lines were crudely dubbed in!
Bottom Line: If you enjoy the "So BAD... They're Really Good" Genre...put "Catch" at the top of your Queue. This movie is "off-the-chart" bad! 2.5* dumbed down to 2* for the rating algorithms!
2**.... ENJOY! (If that is even possible!)
