The eighth and final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones won’t return until 2019, that much we know, but when it does, it’ll seemingly reduce us all into blubbering wrecks.
At least, that’s according to Dark Phoenix star Sophie Turner, who is poised to take charge as Sansa Stark, acting Lady of the North, one last time. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the so-hot-right-now actress previewed the “bittersweet” finale, and why the final read-through of season 8 brought “pretty much everyone” to tears.
This is by no means the first time that a member of the Thrones family has drawn attention to the series’ emotional end; back in October, Jon Snow Aegon Targaryen himself, Kit Harington, admitted that he also choked up upon reading the final script.
And that’s something Sophie Turner echoed in the interview with THR:

The first day Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot met, they slipped into a sushi restaurant and didn't stop talking for four hours. "Both of us were so passionate about so many topics," says Gadot. "Family life, World War II, the Holocaust, humans, race, politics. We were upset and we were happy and we were thrilled." That conversation is still ongoing. Months after their film, Wonder Woman, became the summer's biggest hit, the pair continue to fizz with chemistry, so much that…...

The reality TV star and the budding model, 19, couldn’t keep their hands off each other during the outing at the Kardashian-favorite eatery. The father of three draped his arm around his girlfriend and stroked her back throughout the meal.
Disick, 34, and Richie also held hands, with the former eventually planting a kiss on his girlfriend when they finished their King Kong Sundae.

Do not let the week end on you without chasing down one of these great casting opportunities. The moms that Jennifer Garner plays onscreen -- in movies like Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day and Miracles From Heaven -- usually feel cut from the same cloth. They’re doting, loving mothers with a smile on their face and a twinkle in their eye -- the type of mom you imagine Garner is in real life, too. In The Tribes of Palos Verdes, however, she plays Sandy Mason, a mother of two teenagers whose life spirals out of control after her husband leaves her for another woman. And in this poster for the film, debuting on Et, Sandy hovers over her carefree daughter (played by It Follows actress Maika Monroe).

2017-06-22T07:24:13-07:00'Transformers' Preparing for a Lackluster Weekend
Paramount and Hasbro’s “Transformers: The Last Knight” is heading for a respectable but unspectacular $62 million opening over its first five days at 4,069 North American locations, early estimates showed Wednesday.
“Transformers: The Last Knight,” starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by Michael Bay, took in $5.5 million in Tuesday night previews at about 3,000 locations. The preview number of $5.5 million is a match for the Thursday night previews from May 26 on Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.”
The first day gross, which includes the previews, was estimated in the $14 million to $15 million range, which projects to a range of $60 million to $62 million for the Wednesday-Sunday period.
The four previous “Transformers” installments — all directed by Bay — have grossed $3.77 billion worldwide, including $1 billion for the most recent “Transformers: Age of Extinction” in 2014.
The first-day estimate leaves “The Last Knight” more than 10% down from recent forecasts of $70 million during its five-day domestic opening — far lower than the $100 million debut for “Age of Extinction” during the three-day launch period of June 27-29, 2014, which took in $41.9 million in its first day. The reported production budget for this latest installment was $217 million.

Midtown Comics really stepped up to bring in a few out of towners like Bryan Lee O’Malley and James Tynion IV, local or pseudo local heavy hitters that don’t appear here too often like Greg Capullo and Sean Gordon Murphy, industry legends that go back to the dawn of the Bronze Age of comics like Joe Staton...

Naked and Afraid Xl premieres on Sunday night, meaning that nine new survivalists will be dropped off in Ecuador’s treacherous Amazon basin, 100 miles from the closest city. For 40 days, the participants will struggle to find food, water and shelter in one of the most grueling and unforgiving environments on earth. (They’re initially split up into three groups, but they’ll soon merge together.)
Only a select few people truly understand the hardships of doing the show, so we’ve asked veteran Naked and Afraid participant Matt Wright to share his experiences this season. Here are his recollections of the beginning of his adventure.

Thursday was the start of the Star Wars Celebration in Florida, marking 40 years since A New Hope was released, starting a chain reaction of joy for nerds everywhere (especially at us Heat Vision).

We chat with Boss Baby director Tom McGrath about animation, changes at DreamWorks, Boss Baby 2, advice from Ron Howard and more...
Tom McGrath is one of Hollywood’s most underappreciated comedy directors. Megamind was a hoot, I found myself guffawing heavily through the Madagascar trilogy and now, with The Boss Baby, he’s brought yet more animated mischief to the screen.
We got the chance to have a chat with about the movie, about the big behind the scenes changes at DreamWorks Animation, and the invaluable advice of Ron Howard and George Lucas…
I remember watching the Oscars one year, and Jim Carrey came on to present an award just as Liar Liar had opened to massive numbers. He walked up and said “how was your weekend, mine was good!”. So, Tom McGrath: how was your weekend?
It was great! It was good! [Laughs] You know, I don’t have children myself,...

I was standing outside the hotel room of a movie icon, unsure quite what I would find on the find on the other side of the door. It was the final day of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, and after a week of frantic coordinating with various schedulers, I’d finally managed to land an interview with Jean-Pierre Léaud. He had just played the lead role in “The Death of Louis Xiv,” and still endured the impact of enacting his death for the cameras.
Léaud became one of international cinema’s most famous faces at 14, when he starred in Francois Truffaut’s seminal French New Wave debut “The 400 Blows.” As the adolescent Antoine Doinel, who spends much of the movie acting out at school and at home while witnessing the dissolution of his parents’ marriage, Léaud quickly became the defining face of angst-riddled youth. What It Is: Arby’s new venison sandwich
Who Tried It: Alex Heigl, People.com associate editor
Arby’s, as you may or may not have heard, has the meats. In their latest effort to offer the flesh of every beast under the dominion of man on a bun for popular consumption, this now includes venison.

On the Beach at Night Alone © 2017 Jeonwonsa Film Co.Acknowledging the tabloid controversy surrounding Hong Sang-soo’s relationship with the actress Kim Minhee was always a possibility when it came to On the Beach at Night Alone, the director’s latest film. Premiering in competition at the Berlinale on Thursday, it is the first film of Hong’s to feature the actress since Right Now, Wrong Then (2015), the movie which sparked their affair, and a basic plot synopsis initially suggested that the movie’s arc might mirror the trajectory of their relationship. But what was staggering to many of the people who saw it at Thursday’s premiere was the directness and fierceness with which Hong confronts the issue dead-on. Known for his evasiveness in interviews, and for populating a universe with film characters distinguished by their own equivocality, Hong's reputation suggested that he could well have ducked the issue altogether,...

The first day of production on Dead Poets Society was such a disaster, its sets were burned down...
One of the late Robin Williams' most beloved films is Peter Weir's Dead Poets Society. In the movie, Williams played John Keating, the unorthodox teacher at a 1959 boys prep school. Even just writing those words makes me want to stand on a table and proclaim "oh captain my captain".
See related David Fincher's unfinished projects Looking back at David Fincher's Alien 3 House Of Cards season 5: everything we know so far
As with many loved movies though, there's a story or two lying behind the success of Dead Poets Society (a movie that Dustin Hoffman was once upon a time going to star in and direct). In particular, after one day of shooting, it looked like the film wasn't going to happen at all.

"First you watch it. Then you die." It may be 15 years since Samara Morgan -- the orphan girl who was thrown down a well and now haunts a creepy, homemade movie -- spooked Naomi Watts in The Ring, but her fondness for VHS tapes remains intact in the franchise's latest installment, Rings.
This time, Italian actress Matilda Lutz is the one who watches the tape, though. Which may be the biggest difference between Lutz and the character she plays. Earlier this week, Irish filmmaker Chris Baugh celebrated the world premiere of his crime thriller Bad Day for the Cut at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival’s Midnight program. While in Park City, Daily Dead caught up with Baugh, as well as co-writer/producer Brendan Mullin and Bad Day star Nigel O’Neill, to hear more about their collaboration, the way they focused on the characters instead of just giving viewers mindless violence, and their thoughts on working with Susan Lynch (who portrays the film’s big bad, Frankie Pierce).
Read on for our Sundance interview with the trio behind Bad Day for the Cut, and look for more coverage from Sundance 2017 right here on Daily Dead.
Congrats on the film, guys. We’ve seen crime thrillers before, but I loved the subtlety of this one, and particularly I loved Donal, because he’s just such an interesting character to follow.

Christmastime is here. Presumably you already have chestnuts roasting on an open fire, a turkey and some mistletoe, and your first screaming argument about who’s cooking for who and where. ’Tis the season for such timeless traditions, and along with a collective craving for manifestly ill-judged food combinations and a moratorium on our disapproval of comedy knitwear, classic Christmas movies are now a vital part of the great yuletide experience.
But what precisely is a classic Christmas movie? Timeless vintage offerings like Holiday Inn and Miracle on 34th Street are stuffed from titles to credits with all things Christmassy, yet you’ll also find films like Casablanca and The Great Escape on many festive film lists, which have nothing more to do with Christmas than Cannibal Holocaust.

The incredibly talented Vidya Balan has returned to the suspense genre with her new film Kahaani 2. Suprisingly, this film is not a continuation of the hit film Kahaani from 2012, but is a mysterious and unique story masterfully told by director Sujoy Ghosh. In this story, Vidya Balan plays two characters: Vidya Sinha and Durga Rani Singh. The film explores a dark story of kidnapping and murder. From beginning to end, the audience will be kept guessing as to what is real, what is the true identify of the main character, and what is really going on in this terrifying tale.
To get an idea of the intensity of the film and to get a preview of the depth of Vidya’s character(s) check out the trailer!
I know I say this every time, but it absolutely must be said again, Vidya Balan is one of the nicest and most interesting people to interview.

Tom Kirkman gets no respect, dammit!
As hard as he tries, people are still looking through him rather than at him. That is, until he puts his foot down and lets them know who's boss.

Tom needs to channel his inner Jack Bauer more often. He can still be the soft-spoken, kind-hearted guy that he is, but as President he's going to need to pull out a little more of that gumption he's got hidden away. He has to see how effective he is when he doesn't play Mr. Nice Guy, right?
