13-year old Hailee Steinfeld ("She's a Fox," "Heather: A Fairy Tale") has beat out more than 15,000 teenage girls to score the lead role in Joel and Ethan Coen's new adaptation of the classic western "True Grit" for Paramount Pictures says Deadline Hollywood.
Based on Charles Portis' novel, the story follows 14-year-old Mattie Ross (Steinfeld) who, along with an aging and hard-drinking U.S. marshal (Jeff Bridges) tracks her father's killer in hostile Indian territory and must reach him before a Texas Ranger (Matt Damon) does.
Scott Rudin and the Coens will produce.
