This is a six-year-old, 90-minute television movie being a German and Bolivian co-production. I actually believed the Copacabana was only Brazil, but I checked and I saw I was wrong. So at least i learned one thing from this film. And that is also probably the only good thing to take from it. The worst thing about is is that it makes fun of telenovelas all the time and yet it is as bad as them The topics are the usual: love, family struggles, (lost) friendship, thinking about the future etc. There are really many embarrassing scenes, for example when an old Bolivian woman starts randomly dancing in a dirndl or when in the end the doctor and the female grown-up main character look at each other after he stated the woman's mother's death and the two seem to have fallen in love out of nowhere. Another scene would be when a couple women talk about horny old men and tell each other how they pretend to have migraine, so they won't have to sleep with him. The main reason I watched this film was for the German ingredients in this film, but it is almost non-existent.
I am really surprised to see the film's director having a pretty prolific career in the last years with the bad work he produced here. He is German by the way and so is the writer. Looking at her previous works, she must have a special relationship with South America. The main character in the story is a girl and she is played by Maria Hernandez Fortunato, who looks pretty stunning, like a young Latino Yvonne Catterfeld. Sad to see she hasn't been acting at all in recent years. The movie has lots of music from start to finish, but it wasn't particularly good either. What is even worse is the dubbing. I feel a bit sorry for the actors in this film that they chose such horrible dubbing actors for them. Maybe they were actually not that bad, but this totally destroyed their performances too with the horrible dialog delivery. All in all, this is a film as useless as its cheesy title suggests. Not recommended.
