Title refers to the viewer; atrocious film from Michael Raven
lor_1 August 2016
I enjoyed Michael Raven's final film, the whimsical "Fairy Tale" from Wicked Pictures, but this earlier title is among the worst. It took enormous chutzpah for Raven to foist this one on the public.

It is a Mikayla vehicle pure and simple, but no thought or intelligence went into its making. Apparently Mike was only interested in getting the makeup right and having the couples hump; everything else is amateur night.

Endless voice-over provides the entire plot, often contradicted by the visuals. Making matters worse, some simple explanatory information exists in the BTS short subject but does not appear in the actual feature, leaving the audience in head-scratching mode.

Supposedly, per the narration, Mikayla is a Mexican beauty who married Randy Spears through an online dating service simply to raise money for her daddy's urgent operation back south of the border. She later discovers Randy's got no cash, so she turns to prostitution to pay papa's medical bills, and feels guilty about it.

That flimsy premise doesn't fit the visuals, as we see not merely Mikayla turning tricks but a series of beauties like Kaylani Lei, Kristina Rose and Scarlett Fay humping for pay as well. But Raven just tosses in a series of extraneous sex scenes without explanation or connection to the principal story -making the short (79 mins.) feature play like a wall-to-wall sexer instead. A fleeting image of Mikayla walking across the frame is supposed to imply that she is doubling as pimp, arranging for the other gals to have sex with the johns, but there is no supporting evidence of this visual ploy meaning anything.

The end credits are incredibly sloppy, even for porn. Randy's character is called Todd even though the narration has repeatedly called him John, and the prostitutes and their clients are misidentified.

Spears as worried but understanding hubby is severely miscast - the role called for a more sympathetic laid-back personality (think Danny Wylde on the current porn scene) and he is completely unconvincing. Mikayla, her accent varying scene to scene doesn't do much acting at all, and the script's sentimental moments are all flat. It is carelessly made, who cares? features like this that have put the nail in the coffin of Adult feature filmmaking altogether, opening the floodgates to mindless gonzo. If I had only to point to junk like "Deceived" I could not mount any sort of defense for story telling in the XXX field.
