There is a harsh reality to this episode, Reg has put the pieces together, and worked out exactly who killed Mrs Knighton. This one deals with the nitty gritty, there's nothing glamorous about it, just good old fashioned police work.
From the visual delights of China, we move to a harsh, grim British housing estate, the contrast in this part, to the first couldn't be more stark.
It is a little flat in comparison to Part one, but that was exceptional. The highlights here are the dramatic ending, and the acting, Annette Crosbie is terrific here, a great actress.
Overall, I've thoroughly enjoyed The Speaker of Mandarin, so please let's have a DVD release. 7/10.
