Not a great crime movie, but an entertaining one

"Der Fall des Lemming" is already an indication that there is some decent comedy in here. First of all "Fall" could mean "case" or "fall", your choice to make. And when the main character has a nickname like "lemming", when you know you're in some laughs. Now that I think about it, lemmings keep falling a lot in this video game. Okay, this film was adapted from a novel and without having read it, I'm sure they did a decent job with bringing this one to the screen. Fritz Karl is the actor who plays the title character here. I think he is okay, but sadly his character does not have really that much to work with. The exact opposite is true for Krotznig who is the main villain here instead of the actual killer and the actor can let it all out without it ever seeming unrealistic. The female main character is played by the beautiful and talented Julia Koschitz and she adds a lot to the film too and I am not only referring to her topless scene here. As a whole, this was an enjoyable 90 minutes and I recommend it to everybody who like their crime movies a bit on the funny side. It does never get stupid and it never feels as if this one is more about comedy, but it is certainly a dominant aspect here. I personally found it almost more interesting to watch all the multi-layered characters with their quirks than watch the actual case, even if it is a really tragic story. The way he dies at the end says all about the dark comedy in here. Oh yeah and don't worry about the dog. Finally, a dog survives in a film. This also is an indicator for this one being more of a comedy than a thriller. So yeah, enough said. Check this one out if you get your hands on a copy.
