Reminds me of how white people use to be so easily murdered in horror movies.

-Tripping and falling

-Talking loud, ie using outside voices while hiding.

---All that annoying talking it over and stalling

-Watching your friend die with a weapon within reach that you don't try to grab.

-that one attempt to escape when you see help outside and the person is conveniently distracted.

-gun's blazing and no neighbor hears anything?

Meanwhile the killer slowly pacing like Jason while the victims having conferences, zoom meetings, huddles, phone a friend, and multiple choice sessions.

The actors were mediocre, at best. That's a compliment.

The resolution of the shots were never adjusted to fit the scene. At one point, I was squinting to bare the brightness.

The writing was ABHORRENT. How the hell did 3/4 of the characters not grab a single weapon until the end? And when they did grab a weapon, it was just putting on extra clothes? This woman is RICH. I can guarantee nothing she owned was light. Pick up a book, a statue, a chair... SOMETHING!!!! Then, the friend stood behind her for an entire monologue and grabbed nothing to foght with? Did grab anything to strangle her with? Then, she cried on the steps as she WATCHED HER FRIEND DIE?

This movie is a shining example of what's wrong with thriller/ horror movies today. There's no actual good writing; just poorly manufactured scenarios intended to increase shock value. I'd love to see a thriller/ horror movie where the people are actually smart and do smart things, but the killer(s) are always 2 steps ahead.

After a 13-year feud, THIS is the comeback Daniels has to offer Monique? And she ACCEPTED it after reading it? No, this was passive aggressive revenge from Daniels to Monique. Canceling my subscription and hoping for better for Monique & FROM Daniels moving forward. Waste of my damn time, man.

I was so excited for this one! Monique did a great job with her character but the plot is so full of holes it's so frustrating. What happened to the "making contact with the dead" story? It seemed to just disappear. If she was really talking to the kids and hubby couldn't they help then escape??

How the heck was she going to get away with it this time? There is no story that could explain that mess besides the truth.

The ending?? Wtf was that ?? Was she on that tv show with Rachel? Again, confusing and frustrating.

So bummed this wasn't the spooky ghost story they tricked us into believing was coming.

One star is for Monique's portrayal, she did great and I'd love to see that character with a good storyline.

The other star is for the contacting the dead storyline. Really sad that was abandoned.

I feel like all of the good reviews on here are actually accounts that Mo'Nique and the rest of the cast created to raise the score, because ain't no MF wayyyyyy!!!!! This was literally the worst movie I have ever seen in my entire life. I want to sit in a room with the entire cast and crew, lock the doors, and just yell at them with a belt in my hand for putting this foolery out into the world. Somebody needs to pay for this. I can't even remember how many time I sighed and threw my hands up. Honestly, it started out okay until that awful plot twist. Please don't waste your time watching this movie or your money on BET+.

This movie is not what I was expecting especially for a Lee Daniels production. The plot is predictable. The storyline had promise. And the acting from the newbies is on brand for BET + but Mo'Nique's performance was the STAR! This movie had many twists and turns that it was sometimes hard to follow, but Mo'Nique provided so many quotables it was reminiscent of The Color Purple. This movie will definitely become a cult classic and people will be quoting Mo'Nique like she's a Real Housewife!

Also, I don't know if this was intentional or not, but the main character's mother's name was Oda M Brown, as in "Oda Mae Brown"? Was this intentionally a nod to Whoopi Goldberg's character from the movie Ghost? ! I found it very coincidental if it wasn't considering Oda Mae was a "reader" too and used to scam people using her gift as well.

Anyway, I have already spread the word to my friends that this is a must-see.

I can't help but feel that Monique was offered this role because she's working her way back to being on screen after making up with Lee Daniels, almost like she has to work her way back up.

This film had potential, I was reeled in by the reading when she made contact, but then it went left, which wasn't a bad thing, they just executed the "Twist" poorly. The acting from the majority of the cast was kind of cringe, but it works if they were trying to follow the blueprint of campy old school horor films.

There big reveal was predictable, and there were too many loopholes. Why didn't the family make contact again and try to help them supernaturally? Why did they put on extra layers like that was going to defend them from a stab wound? Why did they hype up the fact that they fought girls in the hood only for them to not put up a real fight?

There were so many directions that this film could have went in if only they developed more of plot details that fell flat.

The film opens with a family of four. Mom (Mo'Nique) runs the family. She has her young boy Kylan to go take a bath. The daughter Kendall (Maudejanei Alero ) she instructs to clean up her room. Her husband (Cooper Helm ) enters and she promises him some goodies later on as she goes and prepares dinner. Four intruders break into the house and kill everyone. Almost. Mom, or Emma survived, badly beaten. She recovers and manages to write a book. Across town Sky (Chasity Sereal) is working her way through college by being a medium. She gives fake readings and does not feel comfortable doing it. She was once taken over by a spirit as a child she claims. Emma's agent and siste-in-law (Lisa Alavi ) offers Sky who has a reputation $20,000. To do a reading. Too much to turn down. She and her crew show up and as everyone would have guessed she does a real reading. The things get really creepy.

I liked the film. It went along and had you going in one direction and BAM! A head fake. I loved it. The twist was worth any acting problems etc. You might of had.

I enjoyed the movie because I'm always waiting for Monique to make a comeback. I miss her in the big movies. This though was a brain teaser. I loved the plot twist, but the story needed a little more. The movie was going well up until the thrilling parts became more comedic in the end. Monique still showed her chops though. I will recommend and watch again. The only part I hate is why the did the kids have to die? I don't like it when kids are killed, especially by the parent. I think it would have been better if they were actually killed by home invaders and that she was actually coping with them dying by doing interviews and writing and then the reading became a way for us to learn why they were killed because the father was in debt and they were actually trying to find diamonds and she survived to get vengeance on the perpetrators. All in all I enjoyed watching Monique act. The new comers I guess were OK. And that scene where she was stabbing the girl, it was so fake and you could see it was a fake knife. Poor visuals effects. Oh my goodness, you get shot in the chest I don't care if it's with a 22 or not you not doing none of that afterwards. First off you lung are going to collapse from filling up with blood. Then you not crawling around after getting shot in the head. Just poor writing and directing. I still love Monique and a die hard fan. Will watch anything see is in. So get her back to work it's been too long. I noticed them workouts help you with those scenes girl... One of your sweet babies.

There are no words for the horrendous acting in this movie, where did 7.2 rating come from, what did those people watch. The acting, the directing even the music score is silly, just over the top. The concept of this movie is great, but the execution sucks. I was not expecting this low level nonsense of a movie. What tha world did I just waste my life on?? SMH!

I bet it reads better than it is acted, so if there is a book, I would recommend picking that up and giving a read, but watching this ridiculousness is not how you want to spend your hour and half. There is nothing logical about it, 1 woman 1 gun and five able bodied people that could have whooped her butt, had they picked up a weapon, a shoe a picture frame, anything!! Goodness gracious!
