This dynasty's queen is MIA
sudanmas23 September 2022
The film, which is currently making its festivals rounds is bundled with synopsis' that completely oversell the films charm - a term one should use generously. Even the accompanying in-film photo gives the impression of some sort of cinematic energetic character-driven reparte between the main characters, which simply doesn't exist anywhere in the film.

The lead, played by Sarah Walker, plays her character Star in a repetitious series of one-note monotone, zombie-like dialogue snippets, which defeats the single ask of the viewer - establish a rapport and grow to empathize with her character.

Asking the audience to pull water from a stone is high task indeed and leaves the viewers cup completely empty as the credits roll.

The leads foil, An, was delightful and engaging and need more screen time and helped pad the every scene they were in.

A film with a premise that goes untapped, this Queen's dynasty is still looking for its majesty.
