Clarice has suffered from an abundance of problems, not the least of which was the overuse of outdated TV plot tropes and one-dimensional characters. This episode finally broke out of much of that, gaining a compelling narrative as part of the process. Frankly, I had given up on the show and had let this episode sit on my DVR for a month, but I'm glad I picked back up. I hope we get more of the Clarice/Ardelia character and relationship development, since that aspect of the show has proved to be quite humanizing for the character of Clarice.

Interesting storyline overall but the blackmailing part... negative
It is so easy for the boss man to just record whatever the lawyer was saying.. I bet since he's such a tool that he would love to repeat everything he said during the phone call... which per se is stupid.. he's talking to the FBI and making threats.... during a call? That was lame.. please, more creativity would be welcome here..

So, all the haters that have gone out of their way to slam this show, esp the ones saying there is no character development... this episode has it all.
I really hope this show gets renewed. Plotlines are growing on several sides. The acting is good, the writing is just fine. Some of the shortcuts a 1 hour tv show often takes are present, but as the show develops there are opportunities for the writers to tighten this up as well.

This Episode begins with a teen case, the body of Cody Phelps has been found in Alexandria after a year of searching. Clarice and Ardelia are investigating the missing childs case. Ardelia's grandmother visits Clarice and Ardelia for a girlnight. Clarice tells Ardelia about her father, he has been killed a while ago. Marybeth tries to protect her son. Ardelia arrested Marybeth. Ardelia arrested Gerry, he killed Cody and the other boys. Joe wants that Paul stops with the river murders. Paul follows Joe his orders. Nice Episode of Clarice Season 1, this is what i am talking about. So much action and a really good storyline!
