Ignore the hate, and turn your color up!
gxnppdw5 July 2022
It seems like a lot of the negative reviews come from people who only watched one episode and barely give it a chance. Yes, this show was created in order to sell dolls, so obviously there is a focus on fashion and aesthetics. But that doesn't mean that it's shallow or lacking morals. In fact, I think this show does a better job than many other children's shows I've seen in showing how to resolve conflict, especially among friends you don't want to hurt. There is a distinct focus on teamwork and collaboration throughout the show.

I noticed a lot of the negative reviews criticize the focuses on fashion and social media. Fashion is a visual art form that people use to express themselves, and it's not inherently shallow even if that is the cultural stigma attached to it. And there is only one character obsessed with social media, the rest are not, but she receives pushback throughout the show for the times where she overstepped boundaries or ignored others' feelings because of it. And while fashion and social media feature heavily in the first episode, if you continue to watch you'll notice many of the characters are musicians, painters, actors, etc. We even get to see behind-the-scenes creative jobs like set and costume design.

Is the show flawless? No. But is it significantly better than these reviews would have you believe? Absolutely!

Perfect for any art kid
rileysharonrolands24 April 2021
My son loves fashion and my daughter loves to draw, this show is modern but was very fun to watch with them. It's funny and the kind of show that's not too childish, fun for even my 14 year old. My only complaint is that only 3 characters apeared to be POC and as a mother this is very concerning.

No better than a YouTube kids clickbait channel
NolanSorrento2 April 2021
The sole purpose of this series is to sell a series of dolls that are somewhere between LOL and Barbie but less creative than either

Every single character in this show is designed exactly the same, with interchangeable cosmetic changes. The show itself lacks any depth even by YT kids standards with every situation revolving around fashion which is strange because the show kills creativity

Of I could block it on Netflix I would, instead I just have to tell my kid to not watch it every time it comes up.

Amazing show- my daughter loves it.
callmepusheen27 January 2022
This show is perfect to inspire your little ones to get into art and fashion. I even enjoy watching it with my daughter, which is pretty rare. I've seen some other users complain about the show "promoting social media" and encouraging children to show off followers- which simply isn't true. There was one character who cared about social media likes, and one episode focused around teaching her that not everything can or should be posted to social media. And as for the characters being "vain", most of the characters are actually very selfless and kind. They go to a fashion school, and so they dress the way they want. There's nothing wrong with teaching children to want to dress up and play with clothes.

Wish there was a -10

Just sat through the one episode on Netflix with my 6 year old niece and am horrified!! A whole school structure that awards social media clout and vanity...focusing only on outward appearances.

It time for some Bill Nye after that batch of brainwashing for little girls.

I'd rather watch Barney...and that says a lot.

Dreadful and harmful.
Lozstu10 April 2021
I worry about the damage these kind of shows are doing to our young girls. All the young girls portrayed in this are mostly concerned about followers and looking good. I feel like the writers should feel some ounce of responsibility to the terrible role models they are providing for our children.

Awful- kids have enough pressure
olgalily7 April 2021
Watched about 10 minutes (if that) and was disgusted . Told my kids they weren't allowed to watch another episode. Show starts with a student filming herself with a selfie stick for her vlog, goes on to brag about how many followers she has , whips out permission slips so that other students can be filmed ; other students talk about their own social media platforms and what they sell .... COME ON. This is gross . Bad enough our kids are actually living this reality but don't want them exposed to this on a kids show too.

AMAZING!!!!!!!
cloudycatcrown10 July 2022
This show was so entertai ing to watch with my brother, as another review said, it's not too childish and has problems that would actually be quite hard to solve in real life, unlike other kids shows. The personality traits are realistic and everything just makes sense. This show is amazing and I'm so crushed that Netflix doesn't have season 3 yet. Don't mind the 1 star reviews, this shows amazing!

Awful.
puttingthekettleontom10 April 2021
I cancelled my netflix account when I found my daughter watching this. Believe me I am not any sort of strict parent and my 6 year old has watch Gremlins and all sorts. This is damaging to children's mental health, good looking cartoon character in stockings getting stressed about their fashion and showing off how many followers they have on social media. I had to stop YouTube for kids due to this tripe now netflix has gone the same way. Until there is a block function for individual programs Netflix will not be getting my money again. Shocking.

I wish it was more episodes but it's great. It shows jobs that are unique and not really "typical" as a career.

HELP ME
bibaly6 June 2021
My friends forced me to watch this show. It's offensive to the eyes and has the most un appealing Character design I've ever seen. The characters are all the same and the only thing Different about them is the one collector in there design and supposed "talent". The writing is physicality painful and is more akin to bad fan fiction written by a 12 year old instead of something you would expect of any descent tv show. It's like if you took the brats movies and sucked all the creativity and joy out of them.

Disgusting
crqptic20 July 2023
The whole premise of the show is based on these creepy looking dolls that all look identical. They have unnatural proportions and always wear make up and talk in ridiculous annoying accents. My sister watches it and I can't stand hearing it from the other side of the house! I saw a bit and the story is non-existent. The female dolls always were skirts and dresses, some of which are freakishly short. It is incredibly obvious that the whole show was made to sell lives of plastic which they call "toys". They convince kids that they should base their worth on their social media popularity and they appearance, never let your kids watch this it's western brainwashing!

Perfect lessons for girls
krissyowens29 April 2021
I loved it! I watched it with my 3 girls! They learn friendship problems, rules and school. I love how they show everyone's personality and that everyone is different and they can still be friends.

Snort.
RalfieDelites4u18 June 2023
First of all, the dolls are just inappropriate and creepy. My sister has a few, and I don't enjoy them in my household. But one thing that hit me was that.. there's a show? I watched it with a friend a few months ago, and the first episode was too much to handle. It was a little bit hard to follow, and I got confused between all the colors. I like rainbows, but do I ever wear rainbow every day of my life?? These dolls are pretty ridiculous to be honest.

Also, in addition to rainbow high, there's "shadow high" which was just straight up bogus. The shadow high dolls are frightening to look at, and I don't know why anyone likes these.

The bottom line is that rainbow high is a weird show that (in my opinion) is a ridiculous excuse for a series. I think I'm good on the amount of "high school" films.

Also, the characters are relatable and likable. Totally love the bright colors and the dolls are super cute. We really love this show and the dolls. I wish there were more than one episode.

I didn't like this show for one reason.
Waynener1 January 2023
This show will forever stay with me for one reason, I was forced against my will to watch show and I will never forget it because this show gave me Covid please never watch this awful show. This made me cancel my Netflix subscription and honestly made me depressed. My friends have cut contact with me after watching this because it ruined my mental state and my life my boss fired me because of my low mood and I'm on my third therapist. But there's a silver lining though,I can doing anything now because nothing that could happen will ever scar me as bad as this show. I hope this helps songs r trash.

Season 1 was amazing, and i'n saying this as an adult, can't wait for season 2. The only thing i would change is adding more scenes to characters like Karma, Kia and Krystal.

Enjoy Whatever Your Color
officialrainbowhighfan13 August 2023
And no, this show is not all about appearance and social media. Anyone who says that has watched 2 minutes. Rainbow High is about girls and boys learning to flaunt their true colors and be themselves, with life lessons along the way.

There are people they face along the way, challenges, and so much more but the characters never give up and overall succeed (most of the time).

If you let your kid watch this, you're exposing them to positive messages and intense storylines. It may sound a bit intimidating that their first Rainbow High test is a fashion show, but it's not just about the fashions. The main girls combine all of their talents to put together a top-notch runway.

Season 3 introduces new challenges, like when you meet Rainbow High's rival school, Shadow High. And yeah, Shadow High students may not seem like nice characters, but even they develop into kind people, too in seasons 3 and 4.

With Rainbow High and Shadow High, learn to flaunt your true colors.

I absolutely love Rainbow High. It reminds me of Bratz which I grew up watching. While many didn't like bratz the lessons and morals of the shows and movies were wholesome. Rainbow High is a break and refreshing from the weird modern shows trying to take on too many things. I highly recommend this show and YouTube channel to their children.

Damaging and zero creativity
arawakt4 April 2024
Look, I would love to find a good show for kids that empower little girls, and if boys like it too, then great. But this show is really not good for many reasons. The character design is nonexistent. Someone "designed" one character and obviously duplicated the model a bunch of times. Even older people look the same as younger ones. Just complete laziness and lack of design skills. The girls are dressed with tight clothes and wear more make up than a clown. There's a boy dating two girls at once in the show too. Such a terrible cliche.

The actual content is pretty useless as well. We already have so much "influencer" content and competition out there! What terrifies me is that this is directed to young kiddos. It's teaching them to compete for glam and attention. To crave popularity and become dependable of "likes" and approval from strangers. It's such an unhealthy message. I feel like I dropped a few IQ points watching this. There was a girl who had a terrible day because her outfit wasn't right, and she actually said "this is a total disaster" - seriously? Is this what kids show want to teach girls? That everything depends on their looks? Her friends "help" her feel better, but not by saying that she's more important than her outfit, but by telling her she will find the right outfit. This is outrageous.

So many other shows out there! If you want a rainbow sparkly show that actually teaches something, 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic' is great. If you like action, 'Action Pack' is great and also teaches some valuable lessons. Both are on Netflix kids too.

I love rainbows and sparkly things, as well as action packed shows for kids too. As long as the show can actually teach something, it can be a crazy hot pink or rainbow fest or a monochromatic bland scenario. Just give us some actual growth in some way instead of more mental numbness.
