As she drifts past the flowers that grow so incredibly high....

The massacre of the poor inhabitants of Sarek island , seen from a distance ,provides the miniseries with its low point ; it was the late seventies but one could have close shots ,without revealing the identity of the killers ; in the whole Leblanc's work,it is the most terrifying moment ; Maurice Cravenne's filming is flat, and the horror of the situation can hardly be felt.

Things go better when Veronique is left on her own ; then the director puts the miniseries on Claude Jade 's shoulders and she pulls it off with talent ; although she's horrified by her boy's crimes , she discovers his belongings in the priory ;then the magnificent garden ;"as she drifts past the flowers that grow so incredibly high ";there's a label:"mom's flower ": the veronica ;is it possible that a child so tender and so mild can kill in cold blood?

Actually ,she's not completely alone;the Archignat sisters ,a threesome of old sisters ,locked up in their house ,were not able to leave the island ;one of them ,a hysterical half-wit keeps on repeating : "we're four!you are the fourth!the prophecy tells :four crucified women !four crosses, four women.

As they head for the priory , the sisters hint at "they" , the druids with their golden billhook ,their gods demand a sacrifice.

Instead of comforting Veronique , the appearance of the shrews increases her terror.
