The plot is pretty straightforward - a young man who is raised without warmth by two extreme germaphobes grows up socially awkward, but then meets an adventurous and charming young woman, and their relationship helps him grow into the person he always wanted to be. I thought that this film had a lovely, whimsical, aesthetic that was charming, and also meticulously planned out. This sort of aesthetic is difficult to pull off, but the director did a great job. That's why I am giving it a high rating. The actors each carve out distinctive, quirky, characters that mesh well with film's intended atmosphere. I would like to see more of this kind of movie. I thought that the plot could have been a bit more complicated, but since I don't speak Chinese I could very well have missed some subtleties that came out in the dialogue.

Caught this by accident on broadcast TV in Shanghai.
A lonely clean freak meets a girl by accident. She's a singer and is in a competition. They're thrown together and are in the competition. Their back stories are revealed in flashbacks. They save each other by being so different from each other. I had to watch till the end to find out what I'm seeing! And now I'm here writing a review with 200 characters to go. I don't think I can make it. I've gone this far and don't want to just quit. A hundred more to go. Thank God for English subtitles, I never would have kept watching. Enjoy the film sometime. And hug somebody!
