Relax. This is a wholesome film.

A very fine short film written by Jean-Julien Chervier. It's a story of a woman who brings her son to a vacation spot at a nudist camp. The boy, played by Marc Beffa, shows he is a lot wiser that most folks would perceive him to be, as he faces a life challenge of knowing the right thing to do when he meets one of the other female tourists at the camp and the two find themselves on a path to a budding romance. The lead female, played by Geraldine Martineau, is nude through most of this film, although Geraldine is indeed an adult so no controversy in that department. Trivia: Geraldine, it is understood, was well into her 20s when she played her role in this film 2009.

Basically the film is about the main character overcoming fears that have haunted him up until that visit to the camp, and the 'thawing out,' as the title implies, reveals in the boy someone about to become a very responsible yet gentle young man who realizes the importance of a well- thought out decision with respects to folks around him.

Nicely filmed in the hills of France, with the participation of Arte France Television and the Center of National Cinematography, and backed by the Aquitaine Region and the Department of Health, you are assured that this short film was produced under strict guidelines and regulations in order to insure that all was done in accordance to laws and proper procedure. La Fonte des Neiges has aired on French national television and has toured the French and U.S. film festivals.

La Fonte des Neiges is one of the very rare naturist-nudist based films where a good sense of responsibility is exhibited at a time when romance sets in and represents a potentially consequential proposition.

Interesting, but cryptic

Warning: Spoilers
"La fonte des neiges" is a French short movie about a boy who is dragged to a nudist camp by his mother during the school holidays. At first, Leo rebels by wearing more layers of clothing than necessary, but after he meets a young girl and eats some supposedly hallucinogenic mushrooms, ends up embracing nudity as well.

Strangely, the girl later appears in front of the boy fully clothed, and appears just as embarrassed as the boy was to be naked in front of her.

There's also a scene where the boy puts his hands on his own mother's bare breasts, and despite the movie depicting a relationship, it certainly doesn't end on a sweet note, as the girl frighteningly presses her face up to the boy's car window, and he anxiously exhorts his mother to "keep driving".

Not really sure what to make of this movie. At least I wasn't bored. It's interesting, but I'm not sure what it was trying to say about its characters, if anything. Perhaps it was just trying to tell a fairly interesting story, which it does. That's more than most movies.

Chilling watch that gets considerably worse towards the end

Warning: Spoilers
"La fonte des neiges" or "Thawing Out" is a French French-language short film from 2009, so this one has its 10th anniversary this year. It is the most recent (sadly) filmmaking effort according to imdb by writer and director Jean-Julien Chervier and probably also his most known work. This is the story of a boy who travels to a nudist camp with his nudist mother and we get to witness how he deals with all this nudity. Early on, he is still a rebel putting on winter clothes despite all the sunshine to show he is a rebel, but when he gets to know a girl his age(? I thought she looked older) who is a nudist too (like everybody else there basically), he gets closer not just to her, but also to the idea of nudism. And eventually appreciated it and feels comdortable with his own body for the first time when we see him sing in the most unrestrained manner. At the same time, his mother is having her own love story there too. Well. it would have been nice if the film had ended at that point, but it didn't, instead went on for another couple minutes and the story drastically changes, also involving the effect of the mushrooms the girl and he have been eating. That whole mushroom story honestly did nothing for me. If there is nothing to them as we find out at the end, it makes no sense at all that the girl thought otherwise early on. Or did she just pretend? This feels like the only valid explanation that would not hurt the film. The ant peeing scene was also not really to my liking. So yeah, the film starts with mother and son travelling there and ends with them leaving. It is quite a shame the film did not manage to keep the high level it has in the first 15 minutes. During these, the question for me was 3 or 4 stars out of 5, in the end it was 2 or 3 stars, so I take the middle number of course. By the way, the young lead actor has (according to imdb) never acted again before or after this film, while his female counterpart is a really prolific actress in France now. The one who palys the mother not too active, but still can be seen occasionally. In any case, as a heterosexual male I found both females stunning. Liberal white knight snowflakes will hate me if I end the review with these words, but yeah let me say that this is probably a better watch even if you are in the mood. But if you are not, it is still a film that is well done and easy to appreciate. it is really difficult to get a hand on it these days I think, maybe because of the graphic nudity from start to finish, but if you do, then go see it. And if you liked it, also watch the German full feature film "Barfuß bis zum Hals" if you can that is also really entertaining and deal with a similar subject, or lets say takes place at a similar location. that one's even better than this short movie we have here. But the latter is fine as well. Positive recommendation!

interesting but strange

Warning: Spoilers
OK, how to start .. i noticed this movie as a suggestion when i was writing a review for Les Textiles. I noticed its a short movie so i was like ..naa.. but since there arent many nudist movies made, i just figured what the hell why not.. Note that i dont understand French so that might effect my perception of the movie.

Anyhow, the movie starts off with the mom undressing , so that was a big LOL right away, and all in all the movie started gooofy just as i learned it is.

The kid dressed like hes going to a ski resort not a nudist camp (that looked badass ,love the old school vibe) so that was a LOL too.

All up untill he met that girl and he started to be more confy with naked, that to me is almost like the part two of the movie.

What i mean is that till that time the movie was like a comedy, but from that point on , the movie took a real strange twist.

Im not sure if that was on purpuse or not, but it was very odd to me.

That girl right from the start acted really oddly , had strange moves, ect .. then the mushroom part, that was also a wth moment to me, it actually made me think that the girl wasnt even real , and that the boy was just imagining things... Then later on when the boy touches hes moms boobs in the tent, (ok i know, its a French movie haha) but yea.. and then at the end, the girl, acting like a creep ?!? Having that evilish kinda simply .. creepy look on her face, but then again , they waved to each other.. Im very confused about the my vision of the "second part" of the movie.

All in all , i've seen ... Rambo 6 .. lasty i've seen Halloween Ends, both dissapointed me and wasnt thinking about them for a minute after i got done with them, but this one still makes me wonder , wth was the second part of the movie about?? Maybe its my not knowing French to blame .i dont know.

Anyway, still good to know they can make a movie like this , of course in Europe, ..or they did anyway 2009 .. and even have it show on TV, many Americans fake moralists would be outraged lol to see something like this.
