The director is very aware, I presume, that her film is a homage to the American film noir of the "glorious" years. I think of course of BONNIE AND CLYDE and THEY LIVE BY NIGHT. A petty car thief who is searched by the police and on the run with a young school teacher. A young gal who is also a sort of outcast, as he is. So the two run away, alone in their own world. Beautiful scenery and score too. Not an ambitious feature but pretty well done. Sensitive touch around the characters. I would have expected it perhaps more poignant. But that's only my point of view. Nothing more. The late Guillaume Depardieu - great Gerard Depardieu's son - gives here his last performance. That's his last film. He died after it.
And the ending of this very movie....
But I won't spoil it any further.
