It was certainly very strange to see that Hive Lords were not a part of the Terminid faction in Helldivers 2 since these massive units were difficult to deal with in the first game. There have been various theories regarding these Hive Lords and possible mutations that were triggered due to the Terminid Control System missions that fans were introduced to in March. Now, it seems like all those theories were true.
Bile Titan in Helldivers 2
The latest Major Order in Helldivers 2 is asking players to disable the Terminid Control System on Erata Prime, Fenrir III, and Turing as massive bug outbreaks have been caused. There is speculation that this is a buildup for the introduction of Hive Lord as fans have also spotted its molts scattered on Terminid planets.

Helldivers 2 seems to be on a roll, giving players enough content and challenges to keep busy with. While Automatons continued to plague the game and bother players right from the start, developers, Arrowhead Studios, have from time to time released Major Orders giving the community collective challenges to fight the Automatons.
Helldivers 2
The players have not stayed behind in any way, delivering crushing blows to the mechanized Automatons. Just recently, the players came together to kill a massive army of two billion Terminds in a matter of hours. But just when players are rejoicing in their victory, a new challenge awaits.
Arrowhead hints at more Terminids coming in Helldivers 2
As Helldivers strive to spread democracy to bots and bugs on Super Earth in Helldivers 2, they recently managed to beat two big forces in the game. This includes the massacre of two billion Terminids in half a day and pushing back...

It may seem hard to believe, but at one stage Resident Evil was not only the highest-grossing film series based on a video game, but also the highest-grossing horror film series period. Consisting of six movies and a reboot, the Resident Evil movies just kept making money even while they were being bashed by critics. Most of those critics arguably had valid points, but the arrival of a new Resident Evil movie simply became oddly comforting somewhere along the way.
Thanks to the creative voices of Event Horizon director Paul W.S. Anderson and his Fifth Element actress wife Milla Jovovich, six of the seven Resident Evil movies feature the character of Alice (Jovovich firing on all cylinders), a former security specialist and covert operative who initially has amnesia but eventually remembers she’s out to take down the insidious Umbrella Corporation, a global company responsible for Earth’s weirdest zombie apocalypse.

Sam Smith is a big fan of Vancouver — and Canada in general.

At one point in the show — the final Canadian date on their Gloria tour — Smith addressed the audience.

When director Elene Naveriani first read the book upon which “Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry” is based, they immediately recognized a whole community. “It was the story of my mom, the story of my aunt, the story of my neighbor,” Naveriani tells Variety. “I could name so many women around me that they were really going through the same interior kind of struggle, and I found it very important to bring this character to life on screen.”
Playing in Directors’ Fortnight, “Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry” follows 48-year-old Etero (Eka Chavleishvili – the filmmaker’s first and only choice for the character) as she discovers her sexuality and enters into her first relationship later in life. In the film’s startling opening sequence, shopkeeper Etero survives a brush with death, returns to her small corner store, and seduces the first man who walks in – having her initial sexual relation on a momentary whim.

Paris-based sales outfit Totem Films has acquired “A Song Sung Blue,” by Chinese director Zihan Geng, and “Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry,” from Georgian filmmaker Elene Naveriani. Both films will premiere in the Directors’ Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival.
“A Song Sung Blue” is the feature debut of the Beijing-born Geng. The coming-of-age story follows 15-year-old Xian, who’s left in the care of her estranged father, a struggling photographer, after her mother is compelled to travel to Africa for work. Over the course of a restless summer, Xian befriends 18-year-old Mingmei, the daughter of his father’s assistant-turned-girlfriend, and soon finds herself looking up to the older girl.
Driven by the ignorance and impulse of youth, their friendship will leave an unforgettable mark on the young girl’s life, a journey that “we follow to retrieve the memories of that distant part of our own youth,” according to Geng.

This year, women directors – and their women-centric subjects – swept the awards at Sundance Film Festival. Three women directors – Madeleine Gavin, Maryam Keshavarz, and Noora Niasari – won Audience Awards for their films on North Korea (“Beyond Utopia”), intergenerational motherhood (“The Persian Version”), and custody in diaspora (“Shayda”). Portraits of masculinity were also celebrated as well. First-time feature filmmaker Sing J. Lee won the Directing Award for his touching portrait of masculinity and fatherhood in “The Accidental Getaway Driver,” while Sauvnik Kaur’s intimate documentary on brotherhood “Against The Tide” took home a Special Jury Award. After two years of isolation and virtual festival-ing, it seems that stories of tenderness appealed over aggressive storytelling at Park City this year.
“This year’s Festival has been an extraordinary experience,” said Joana Vicente, Sundance Institute CEO. “The artists that comprise the 2023 Sundance Film Festival have demonstrated a sense of urgency and dedication to excellence in independent film.

Before Disney+ and Kevin Feige brought television series into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" was a fan-favorite network television underdog. Born out of 2012's "The Avengers," the show followed a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents assembled by a newly not-dead Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). Thanks to a strong fanbase, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." survived cancellation multiple times with rallying cries on social media like #CoulsonLives and #SaveAgentsOfSHIELD.

Donald Glover spoke out on the difference between artists and entertainers…and the children of both.
During an interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, the “Atlanta” creator applauded Zoë Kravitz for her directorial debut with “Pussy Island,” which she also co-wrote.
“I know she feels the pressure,” Glover said of Kravitz’s need to be viewed as more than “the daughter of,” citing her parents Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet’s respective fame. “There’s always a pressure that’s like, ‘I actually have to do something that’s good, because otherwise people will say it’s not because of me being creative.'”
The “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” showrunner continued, “A lot of artists think they’re artists but they’re actually entertainers. She’s actually somebody who is like, ‘No, I know when someone’s lying to me. I know when I actually look good. I know...

Last week’s premiere of “Atlanta” Season 3 marked Donald Glover’s long-awaited return to television writing. The multi-hyphenate has kept busy with a variety of film and music projects in the four years since Season 2 of his hit FX show aired, but the return of “Atlanta” has reminded audiences why he is one of TV’s most acclaimed scribes. Glover himself claims that Seasons 3 and 4, both of which have already filmed, are some of the best television ever produced, rivaled only by “The Sopranos” in his view. But with “Atlanta” in the can, Glover is already moving onto his next television project.
Vanity Fair has reported that Glover is writing and producing a new series for Amazon with the potential working title “Hive,” which is reportedly inspired by a pop star reminiscent of Beyoncé. While the show is still in the writing phase, he has already made one high profile...

In February 2021, The Hollywood Reporter disclosed that Donald Glover had exited his pact with FX for a multiple-year deal with Amazon. This deal will see Glover executive producing a number of projects for the streamer, including one called "Hive," which has already begun staffing a writers' room that includes none other than Malia Obama. "Hive" is rumored to feature a Beyoncé-like figure and come from the mind of "Watchmen"'s Janine Nabers.
In a recent interview with Variety, Glover described Obama as "somebody who's gonna have really good things coming soon" before adding that her "writing style is great." Glover's brother and collaborator, Stephen, echoed the same sentiments, saying, "Donald always says perspective is important, and people with different perspectives are important for a writers' room. And for sure, [Malia] definitely has a unique perspective on everything. So we wanted to hear her stories and have her work with us.

Throughout history, the tide of change has come from powerful women who have fought against the wave of oppression. Based on a collection of true stories, Hive is no different and presents a bold tribute to women who, day by day, are fighting to better not just their own lives, but those of the world around them.
Directed by Blerta Basholli, Hive revolves around Fahrije, a woman whose husband has been missing since a war in Kosovo. Whilst grappling with the loss, her family are also struggling financially so Fahrije decides to earn money by beekeeping and making her own pastes to sell in the village, which is practically forbidden for “waiting wives.” in order to provide. Soon, the men turn hostile as they disagree with the way she is trying to empower herself and other women. As struggling to keep herself and her family afloat, she has to battle...

Is it really 20 years since Milla Jovovich’s Alice first kicked zombie ass in a red dress? The movie inspired by the much loved video game series spawned five sequels and a 2021 reboot, and has become a significant entry in movie zombie lore. Yet, lots of people think the films are rubbish. As Wikipedia puts it:
“Despite all the installments receiving generally negative reviews from critics, the Resident Evil film series has grossed over $1.2 billion.”
Well someone must like those films, surely?
Two decades on, Den of Geek has decided to revisit the original to work out once and for all whether this is a misunderstood masterpiece or a perfectly well understood trash fire. Movies Editor David Crow and UK Editor Rosie Fletcher had a rewatch and fundamentally disagreed. They duke it out below.
Rosie Fletcher: Paul W.S. Anderson probably isn’t the best director called Paul Anderson working currently.

A perfect movie for the moment — though it debuted in late 2020, winning the Grand Prize at Tallin Black Nights — “Fear” offers both seriocomic balm and finger-wagging just as another major refugee crisis roils the world. Bulgarian theater and film veteran Ivaylo Hristov’s latest feature brings to mind not just current Ukraine-related events, but wider European and global trends, as it depicts a border backwater rattled when a lonely local widow takes in an African man fleeing war. Selected as last year’s Bulgarian Oscar submission, this warmly ingratiating piece in cool widescreen monochrome is a keeper, reminiscent of bittersweet fish-out-of-water arthouse hits like “The Band’s Visit,” as well as select gems from Soviet-bloc nations’ 1960s new wave.

To mark the film’s UK release, we had the pleasure of speaking to the talented women behind the production, interviewing both the filmmaker Blerta Basholli and leading star Yllka Gashi to discuss this powerful and profound new drama.
The pair, who hail from Kosovo, are bringing to life a story that is very real to many, and they talk about what it means to come from a generation of women who lived through a war, and how that impacts creative storytelling, while telling us whether the making of this film had a profound effect on their own understanding with what happened during the war in Kosovo in the late 90s, and the war crimes committed against the nation. Ballad of a White Cow (Behtash Sanaeeha and Maryam Moghaddam)
The cruelty of the Iranian justice system is in the spotlight again in Ballad of a White Cow, the compelling debut of directing team Behtash Sanaeeha and Maryam Moghaddam that unfurled in competition at Berlin. Just last year, Mohamad Rasoulof won the festival’s top prize for his anti-capital punishment polemic There Is No Evil, a masterful weaving of four storylines that showed how a morally bankrupt state corrodes those forced to carry out its functions, a searing portrait of the banality of evil. – Ed F. (full review)

Reality really is a matter of perspective.
The haunting trailer for Apple TV+’s upcoming series “Shining Girls” exhibits the suffocating trauma of surviving an assault — and captures what it takes to track a killer.
“He’s everybody. He’s nobody,” Elisabeth Moss says as newspaper archivist Kirby Mazrachi in the time-bending trailer for the show, which premieres April 29.
As Kirby realizes a recent murder mirrors her own attack, she sets out to find her assailant with the help of seasoned reporter Dan Velazquez (Wagner Moura). Yet the pair quickly realize that a series of cold cases are all linked, blurring Kirby’s sense of time, space, and certainty.
Jamie Bell, Phillipa Soo, and Amy Brenneman also star. Based on Lauren Buekes’ bestselling novel, “Shining Girls” is executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson, and Michael Hampton through Appian Way.
Per the original novel, the title “Shining Girls” refers to “bright young women with potential,...

Air Doll (Hirokazu Kore-eda)
Despite coming from one of international cinema’s foremost working filmmakers, Hirokazu Kore-eda’s 2009 film Air Doll had never seen a release in the U.S. Adapted by Kore-eda from Yoshiie Gōda’s manga series Kuuki Ningyo, it’s a modern retelling of the Galatea myth—in which the king Pygmalion fell in love with his ivory statue and the goddess Aphrodite brought the statue to life. For a 21st-century spin on the tale, Kore-eda naturally updated the statue to a blow-up sex doll, played by Bae Doona. – Mitchell B. (full review)

In a new series, Variety catches up with the directors of the films shortlisted for the International Feature Film Oscar to discuss their road to the awards, what they’ve learned so far, and what’s taken them off guard.
The triumph-over-adversity drama “Hive,” which is based on a true story, centers on a Kosovan woman whose husband went missing in the war. Her attempt to set up a business is met with hostility from the men in her village. The film picked up the audience, directing and grand jury prizes in Sundance’s World Dramatic competition last year.
What does it mean to you to be shortlisted for the best international feature Oscar?
It means a lot and it’s an honor in many ways. First of all, because of the inspiring story of the women of Krusha who decided to do something about themselves and their children and...
