A Fine Example Of Less Is More.
Dawalk-130 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This is another well familiar and memorable story/episode for me. It involves a boy named Henry Green, who loves chocolate, so much so he's addicted to it and he eats chocolate with just about everything. But one day while he's at school, brown spots suddenly appear on his face and body. The doctors and nurses examine Henry, but they can't figure out what the cause of this is nor can they diagnose his condition. Henry soon discovers that this unusual condition he contracted is due to his excessive love for chocolate as part of his diet. But this isn't permanent, it turns out to be only temporary and he reverts to normal later thanks to the consumption of vanilla. There's also a kidnapping of him by two men named Lefty and Louie, if that's how I remember that part correctly and I'm not mistaken, but a delivery truck driver saves the day and the kidnappers end up getting caught.

Henry learns the hard way about what could happen if he has too much of a good thing and that can lead to becoming a bad thing. But he gets a lesson on whatever is done, it should be done in moderation now to prevent problems and predicaments from occurring later. The reason why there should always be balance, not to have too much or too little of anything, but just the right amount. After he's cured, rather than cutting back on chocolate, he gives it up altogether and moves on to his new love, cinnamon.

I still consider this to be a well-done, televised, animated adaptation (even though I never read the book myself), as are this show's other episodes based on other stories. It's perfect for providing insight on why one must never get addicted to anything. Another one of my childhood favorites and for me, this is one of the best. Not only as a part of this series, but in general. It's still a good way to teach that moral to kids. I add this to my recommendations.

Henry Green is a chocolate freak!

I remember watching this episode when I was in elementary school, but I have never read the book during that time until about two years ago. The book, and this CBS Storybreak episode, shows us that sometimes too much of a good thing - or something that may seem good - can be not so good. That's what happens to a boy named Henry Green. He had eaten chocolate all his life when one day he breaks out in big brown spots. Henry tries to run away because of his diagnosis of chocolate fever. He soon learns that he must try to give up his love of chocolate and not consume it so often.

This is an enjoyable episode about eating, and don't be surprised if they decide to make Robert Kimmel Smith's book into a movie. Speaking of eating, I also recommend another CBS Storybreak episode you should watch - How to Eat Fried Worms. Look for them on YouTube.
