The most moving documentary I have ever seen
nukeage12 May 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This is the most moving documentary I have ever seen (and I usually don't care for documentaries). I feel blessed to have seen it at Festival International de Femmes de Créteil this March. Bari takes the camera and gets inside the five year-old Antoine's head. Using super close- ups and low camera angles, she shows us the world as a child would see it: Antoine's world. Then the realization hits that this is the world he himself doesn't see. Sound -- helped by Antoine himself -- enhances the intimacy and immediacy of the audience's experience. When the lights came on, there were no dry eyes around; we were devastated yet very happy, like a great work of art should make us feel.
