One of The Best (if not the best) Episodes Disney TVA Has Ever Produced.
chrispro-0802410 May 2021
Wow, that's all I could say when I took a few minutes to process what had just happened in this episode.

This episode is the ultimate conclusion to a season finale that has been building up since Anne had dropped into Amphibia in season 1, this episode was a literal emotional roller-coaster, my heart was racing the entire time I was watching and it stopped when it ended. This is the first time a show/movie has made me speechless and heartbroken, its also the first time something like this has made me cry.

The episode also answers some of our questions about the plot in general, such as what happened to the calamity box and how Marcy came across it, it also gives us the true meaning as to why the girls ended up in Amphibia in the first place, but it also leaves us asking even more, leaving us on a cliffhanger that makes you depressed, yet satisfied.

The only tiny little issue with this episode is the pacing, I wish the episode was a little longer so it would give us more time to process some major things happening, but there is only so much you can do with only 24 minutes plus knowing Disney and how they like to run things on a timely manner (and also delay things for no reason), its no big deal, and even then, its such a minuscule issue it failed to bother me.

In the end, this has to be (in my opinion) the best episode Disney TVA has ever created (yes I know Gravity Falls exists), it is so good I could talk about for hours, I would even go as far as calling this the best episode Disney as a whole has ever made (though I know some people may disagree).

Either way, I'm super excited for season 3 and cant wait how the show and its amazing writers concludes this awesome story!

Some Gamechangers and Some Charater Deaths.
gideonbernstein-28 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This season finale was a rollercoster ride from almost the begining. Not only did Sasha betray Anne and the Planters again as expected, but Marcy and the King did so as well. Not only did Polly finally sprout legs, but Anne returned home and took the Planters with her after the music box gave her superpowers to fight the King.

The episode was also very dark, especially for Disney. Not only did Frobot die in this episode, but so did Marcy after the King stabbed her. At least in the "Gang Wars" episode of Fat Albert where one of their friends gets shot to death in a gang fight, they didn't show the bullet hitting him. They did show the sword going through Marcy, however, which i don't think ever happened in a kid's cartoon before. No wonder the Disney Channel is holding off on showing it until they come up with a good disclaimer.

All in all, it was a great way to end the season. It makes me look forward to Seaon three.

We're In the Endgame Now....
ryanperez-19992 May 2021
First of all, oh my God! What an episode! So many twist, turns and surprises. The episode was so amazing. To those who haven't watched it yet, let's just say it ends on a cliffhanger. Infinity War style. That's all I'm going to say.

The best episode I have seen of ANYTHING Disney
jmbburgess-742092 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I first watched this in June but I now feel like with 30 days until season 3 premiere this mastery of television deserves another review. The animation during the calamity powers scene is seriously the best animation I have ever seen and my favorite form of television is animation so I've seen beyond my fair share of it. Another part I feel has to be talked about is when Sprig gets thrown the montage of Anne and Sprig ending with the amazing use of the the putto for season 1 was breathtaking and tear jerking (cried so hard). The voice acting, the dialogue, the score, the ABSOLUTE SADNESS you feel pushes this masterpiece over the top. I believe that the greatest kids show of all time is ATLA but with the upcoming season, Amphibia has a MAJOR chance of becoming the greatest kids show ever created. Saying I'm excited for season 3 is a huge understatement. Disney keep up the beyond amazing work!

The colors that determine all
Thumper-11322 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As of the 22nd of May, Amphibia's True Colors season 2 finale has now officially premiered, and what a ride this sent us on through a tale of hardships, betrayal, trust, teamwork, redemption, and above all the true potential being awakened.

After successfully charging the box back to its colored form, Anne and the gang return to Newtopia to meet with Andrias before she, Sasha, and Marcy bid farewell to Amphibia. However, Sasha and Grime instead have other plans to overtake Newtopia with their own toad army, much to Anne's shock and frustration after believing Sasha had changed.

However, although Sasha and Grime's invasion is ultimately thwarted thanks to Anne, Marcy, Frobo, the Plantars, Lady Olivia and General Yunan, King Andrias has a reveal of his own which involves conquering all worlds, much to everyone's shock. Although Marcy attempts to reason with him, Andrias in return reveals to everyone that Marcy purposely got her, Anne, and Sasha stuck in Amphibia. As betrayed as Anne and Sasha were, they still knew stopping Andrias took first priority, and fought him heads on while retrieving back the box.

After the destruction of Frobo, along with Anne having a sudden outburst of power coming from her body after believing Sprig had died, Marcy manages to successfully open a portal back to the human world with the music box. However, before Marcy and Sasha can follow Anne and the Plantars inside the portal, Marcy is stabbed through the chest by Andrias, causing her to drop the box and for Anne and the Plantars to travel to the human world on their own.

First off, the animation for this episode was high quality astonishing. You could really tell they wanted to go all out for the sake of setting up big events that are bound to come out of season 3. As a major highlight, the body movement and transitions for Anne in her powered form offered high showings of both smooth flowing and her anger as she was fighting. I also loved the background transitions of not just the day change for a final battle sunset, but you could even see small details like the clouds moving from the windows as Andrias' castle was floating in the sky.

Like every hype for a finale, many core characters sure shined with not just fighting styles, but also expressing their true feelings that aren't simply passing by thoughts. For example, when Anne proclaimed her friendship to be over with Sasha, to Sasha they weren't just blank words, instead they actually stuck to her, and that became a big factor in the endgame battle.

I also loved the long term aspects of these characters being represented in this finale, in which for this instance can include moments involving Sprig and Anne's friendship. Their adventures and growth together after all this time was put to the test this episode, as not only did Anne surrender to Andrias over the threat of Sprig's life, but the moment Anne believed she lost Sprig, her ultimate power was revealed, which without a doubt guarantees her word to everyone including the audience for Sprig being her best friend in any world.

The music in this episode was also a very big highlight, as through the flow of every scene, even some of the most intense ones wouldn't feel the same if not for the music representing incredible elements of suspense, sadness, and hope. For instance, as Marcy was admitting to having known about what the box could do prior to going to Amphibia, Marcy's voice was filled with positivity because she believed what she did was right, but the music's tone of betrayal and sadness allowed us to understand what Anne and everyone else was feeling about Marcy's choice, as it eventually transitions to Marcy's realization that what she did was wrong.

Overall a great way to finish off the season, not just showing the build up for what's to come in the 3rd season, but also the audience with how much all these characters have changed and grown through every hardship they've faced so far in this series. Although this finale has also brought us many questions to ponder as well, it is also a great factor to show what we can be looking forward to for season 3.

One of the best episodes I've ever seen - of anything
ameliamudie23 May 2021
I still don't think I can formulate my thoughts into a coherent review. That being said this episode was packed full of emotions and lore while not straying away from the comedy Amphibia is known for. I cried and laughed many times while watching this and in all my rewatches since. Honestly if I could give this episode higher than 10 stars I would.

Total plot twist!
oneslickjackrabbit24 May 2021
This is the Amphibia we were all waiting for! Total plot twist, total cliffhanger, emotionally draining, superb animation.... I could go on and on and on. Do yourself a favor and watch the episodes prior starting with First Temple to get yourself ready for this one, and then strap in! Matt Braley is definitely pushing the boundaries of American animation in a positive direction for both kids and adults like me. Can't wait until Part 3!

Perfection.
Pyrodactyl23 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Okok im gonna list the things i like

-the animation at the super saiyan anne part is really amazing, THE ANIMATION (i literally made my friend watch amphibia just because i shown him this scene) -oh and the background music/score of the super saiyan anne part, it just fits.

-the swordfight between Anne and Sasha is like WAY better than the one on "reunion" -????? DIES? WHAT THE- okok but the fact that a significant character dies is so rare to see. This is a really bold move here
  • The betrayal, this is pure betrayal, pure madness- so first sasha and grime stole the box, and now marcy reveals her secret and now king andrias... he's very sus and turns out he was the villian.

  • the part where hop pop does acting was just hilarious, like those toad henchmen are just *yes*
  • polly had legs in like the last second

and there's WAY more that i love about this

the last time i got this emotional watching a cartoon is weirdmageddon. This just proves how special this is, and this just escalated SOO QUICKLY just by ONE episode.

It's rare to see an episode as good as this. Congrats matt braly, you have succesfully made me a fan and now i'm hyped for season 3 :D (oh and i loved that gravity falls reference)

This episode was nice, I almost cried when Marcy and Sprig died (Sprig was revealed to have been saved by Marcy.) Probably the most emotional amphibia episode. The plot was "rushed" at the beginning but throughout was good.

The Ozymandias of animated television
HoopaDaBoopa2 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
True Colors has got to be one of, if not, the best episode of any Disney Cartoon I've ever seen (hell, maybe of any animated show I've seen). It's about as perfect as you can get.

Everything about the episode works: the action sequences, the comedy, the dialogue and interactions, and especially the reveals. Anne's reation to Sasha is believable, Marcy's reveal is heartbreaking, Sprig's near-death is masterful and the emotion is earned, and when Anne uses her calamity powers, you can feel the raw power and emotion with the blend of amazing animation and voice acting. The biggest complaint I hear about this episode is the pacing and that it should have been a 44 minute episode; while the pacing is fast, it works perfectly, and the constant sense of action and emotion is what makes this episode truly special. I felt on the edge of my seat the entire episode, and that likely would not be the case if the episode was double-length.

Overall, this is a masterful episode in a great Disney Channel series.

One of the most foreshadowing and rockin' episodes ever!

Warning: Spoilers
I loved that season finale but some of the Amphibia fans felt like a series finale because of the credits art, an action-packed adventure, and some plot twisting yet chest wrenching scenes including how Marcy got stabbed by King Andrias. She still alive but she's in a coma. I can't wait for season 3!

Amazing suspense!
wateva-0801724 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It reveals that King Andries was the villain the whole time! Pretty sad episode though. Marcy gets both figuratively and literally stabbed in the back by King Andries, and Sprig almost falls to his death!? On the bright side, this proves my theory about the Calamity Box's power being in the three girls. And Polly also gets her legs! This is my favorite Amphibia episode until season 3 comes out! :)

THEY RUINED IT FOR ME!

I got spoiled on so don't search up 'Amphibia' on your devices I got spoiled.

Don't worry about season 3, it's great!

Don't watch ANY episodes without order (it hurts on cable tv) so don't watch spoilers.

This is my review if I watched NO Amphibia on the internet or even checked so that then and only then, you will enjoy this finale.

I am at a loss for words
joshgleeso12 November 2021
This is one of the best episodes of anything I have ever seen. I'm going to keep this short since there's not much I can say that hasn't been said already.

This. Is. Brilliance. Incarnate.

I genuinely do not know what to write to do it justice. It went above and beyond what I could have ever expected from a cartoon in more ways than one. I will remember this for a very long time. For me, this is truly a perfect episode. This is as good as season finales get. The characters, the dialogue, the voice acting, the visuals, everything was just incredible. T. J. Hill's soundtrack was outstanding towards the end of the episode as well. Truly amazing stuff.

If I could give it an 11 I would
jacw-3239829 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This might be the best episode.

I knew everything that was going to happen. I knew about Sasha's betrayal. I knew about King Andrias being evil. I knew about Calamity Anne. I knew about Marcy's betrayal. I knew about Marcy being dead.

And it still shocked me.

And I was still speechless.

And my eyes still watered.

The fact that it was still a 10/10, even with knowing all these things cements it as one of the best episodes and something that I would give an 11/10 to.

I wish I had gone in blind. I'm not good with spoilers. I had like 80% of Game of Thrones spoiler for me, most of Infinity Train, The Owl House, ATLA, even some Star Wars: The Clone Wars. I'll try not to, but I won't be surprised.

This episode is flawless. The entire show is worth it for this one episode (and the entire show is still great)

One of the Best Episodes of Television... Seriously.
evschweik18 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
True Colors is an absolute masterpiece from start to finish. A climatic conclusion to the second season and an amazing way to set up the final season.

Not to mention the title working in many different ways:
  • Sasha and Grime's true colors of invading Newtopia.

  • King Andria's true colors of being not just a king but a malicious conqueror.

  • Marcy's true colors of revealing that she got the trio transported into Amphibia on purpose.

  • Anne's literal true colors of her activating the power of the blue gem stone from the Calamity Box.

An episode that does not need a single change. Perfection.
