Martha and Jonah remain trapped in a mine shaft and their situation grows steadily worse as Martha's attempt at independence leaves her alone and in trouble.Alf and Geoff get to play the hero, as does Jonah, and Bruce makes a few more moves towards sympathy;his reaction to Annie and Geoff's reunion is very poignant.Martha is left feeling very confused by her bonding with her sworn enemy.Irene has the sense to stay quiet.
Elsewhere, Rachel and Tam fail to bond as Tam ends up throwing a tantrum and taking a very serious course of action.Sally is reaching the end of her tether, not only having to deal with Pippa's illness but tellings off from both Brad and another teacher over her inability to cope at work.Colleen offers her own way of helping out but Brad has ideas of him own.Cassie isn't who most people would choose as a saviour but it seems to make Sally happy.
