Korean docs find home in Toronto
Toronto -- The Hot Docs festival on Friday night gave its best international feature award to the Lebanese film "The One Man Village," Simon El Habre's film about the last man standing in a small village after Lebanon's civil war.
North America's largest doc festival also gave a special jury prize to Austrian director Peter Kerekes' "Cooking History," a film about military cooks on 20th century battlefields.
Other prizewinners in Toronto included Hubert Davis' "Invisible City" earning the best Canadian feature doc award, while the best midlength doc award went to "Rabbit A' La Berlin," Bartek Konopka's film about wild rabbits romping on both sides of the now dismantled Berlin Wall and, like Eastern Europeans, adjusting to newfound freedom.
Elsewhere, Kara Blake's "The Delian Mode," a Canadian music-driven doc won for best short, and Korean director Chung-ryoul Lee picked up the best emerging trophy for "Old Partner,...
