India Lockdown review :

We are probably the first (and hopefully last) generation to have experienced a disease induced country wide lockdown- something which taught us to work from/at home and made online communication a part of our everyday lives. Only this lockdown which started on the fateful evening of 24th March and extended till mid June 2020 wasn't as kind for the lower middle and labour class who lost their bread and butter...and some their lives!!

Madhur Bhandarkar, acclaimed for his realistic cinema, chooses this grim chapter which will invariably find a place in Indian history. " Bomb blasts, 26/11 aur floods mein bhi Mumbai chalta raha...yeh Corona naam ki kya musibat hai!!" goes the lament which accurately reflects the mood of that time. Indeed, the Covid lockdown was something unprecedented, harsh but highly essential as a precautionary measure.

Bhandarkar chooses to showcase all classes of the society to reflect how the covid lockdown impacted every Indian. There is a senior citizen (Prakash Belawadi) stuck in locked up Mumbai when he was about to travel to Hyderabad for his daughter's delivery. A migrant couple (Prateik Babbar- Sai Tamhankar) lose their jobs in Mumbai and have no option but to walk all the way to their hometown in Bihar. A lady pilot (Aahana Kumra) befriends her new "virgin" neighbour and they get close in this lockdown state. Lastly, a Kamathipura prostitute (Shweta Basu Prasad) runs out of business and devises a new trick to earn some grub - phone sex.

The screenplay is fast paced as well as relatable to a significant extent. The hardships faced by every strata is accurately explored by Bhandarkar without making the movie appear like a mundane documentary. His trademark flair for mixing commercial elements in to realism is evident once again. The climax where all the sub plots merge together seamlessly is also commendable.

Bhandarkar has the knack of extracting the best from his ladies and he doesn't disappoint here as well. Shweta Basu Prasad is simply outstanding, Sai Tamhankar is utterly convincing as the hapless poor migrant coping with blatant passes made at her and lastly, Aahana Kumra springs a pleasant surprise with her superlative act reminding you of the seductive Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate (1967). I wish the film was bold enough to consumate her love...but alas!!

Prateik Babbar is another well etched character and the way he rummages through garbage for a piece of food is gut wrenching. Certain scenes create a shock value like an ambulance used by a vile corporator for sex and a well to do dude casually dismissing covid as a sham dying of the same in no time.

All in all, India Lockdown is certainly worth a one time watch. It is a near accurate account of all the breaking news we saw and read in those turbulent times when survival was more important than personal progress. Fortunately, we all lived to see a film made on it today. Cheers for that!

One thing that comes to our mind when we say Bollywood is fancy stories with dream worlds. They are far for reality and almost nothing to take from it. But this

movie stands still as a giant proving that Bollywood isn't all about synthetic dream worlds. This is a classic masterpiece with the combination of geniuses.my favorite actor in Bollywood shows here, he not just another actor but a man of wisdom. There are high class Bollywood celebrities, acting in very cheap TV SERIES even jeopardizing their well built reputation. One thing I notice on he is that he is not after each and every role only seek for the excellence. As he becomes successful with his career, he improves the way of thinking too. This maturity can be clearly visible in his.

The movie has amazing story line with strong acting and great direction! It is a must watch. It depicts a very serious issue which our society avoids to talk about!! Lovely movie. Must watch! I was not about to watch it because of imdb rating and also i didn't get to know about this but in theatre my gf insist me to watch the movie because I'm a fan of Amitabh Bachchan. First half is really funny it's very engaging second half is amazing but only little bit of humour is missing but you can go along with it. The ending is omg. The movie is really worth watching! Aahana and Prateik played that part really well. The movie is definitely ahead of it's time for half of India. I was thinking of not going for this movie as the rating was so low. But I i saw only 10stars and 1 stars in the rating, so i thought the rating could be biased. Ultimately i went for the movie. And I found it super entertaining.

Beautiful Zee5. It's so refreshing to see good Bollywood movies coming back again. Amazing work by all the actors. The plot is good, their are funny moments, and some emotional as well. Great direction, good music. This movie was absolutely fantastic. I loved the flow, the dialogues , the awkward but funny scenes, the characters , the message and the representation. I really liked this movie India lockdown very much. Awesome actors awesome movie message about lesbian and gay, they have life they can enjoy this world, ...anyone can creat their own life and enjoy their life...awesome movie India lockdown. Just loved it! Cast was awesome. Comedy, romance, entertainment everything packed in this movie. I don't why imdb rating is that low just go for it watch it and decide yourself.

This is a film that I would suggest to everyone of my family and friends. Finally, the film's distinguishing feature is its story, which keeps you watching to the end without becoming tedious; congratulations to the writers, director, and all performers. There are humour, drama, and romantic situations to appreciate. Everything about this book was fantastic, from the characters to the plot. From conception to end, the cooperation was outstanding! Everyone should go watch this! I just became aware of a great family film that is both humorous and uplifting. The Director and Writer should be commended for bringing this treasure to the big screen. This made me laugh so hard that I couldn't stop myself.

In my opinion, a movie is that which teaches us something with humour and comedy. That's why I love to watch comedy films. Recently I watched India lockdown. I am fully impressed with the movie. It not only tells us a beautiful story but the art of presenting the story is Prateik singh and Monalisa are the lead roles in the film.

They have played their parts extremely good and professionalism is highlighted in their acting skills. The story is written by Anil sir and it is produced by Junglee entertainment. It is basically a comedy film which tells the story of a student who is the only male student in the entire department and he feels uncomfortable to treat the female patients as the patient's suspects him as he is a male. That's why he urges his other female friends to exchange their departments. Overall, its a great film and everyone should watch it.

India Lockdown lost the opportunity to critique or making a statement on Lockdown happened in India. It lost the opportunity to comment on irresponsible media coverage, on government's apathy, on lack of PPE kits and other medical needs during that period. Madhur Bhandarkar never in entire screenplay mentions government or Modi or any other leader. Not even a logical ending, it was not clear what he want to show through this movie. Where were the scenes of Thali-Tali Bajao,where were mention of Candle lighting, where were shown doctors dedication, where it was shown how even people were not deserved dignified death rituals.

Must watch! Its a fabulous movie to watch. You can see excellent story, background music, great work of the entire team. The speciality of the movie is this story, is story make you to watch till the end without boring and the uniqueness is not shown violent and words, hats off to the writer, director and all characters.really it's such an amazing movie. Prateik has played a very good role in this also gave life in this movie. Aahana is also looking very beautiful inside it .Overall this movie is very good. The unique selling feature of the film is that it does not include any violence or filthy language, which is a testament to the scriptwriter, director, and all of the performers. Unquestionably one of the best films ever created.

Because this TV SERIES is so good. Perhaps because I did not have any mohit singh is so comfortable with his role in this movie, quite an appealing monalisa is rock solid in every scene (biased view, we Bollywood movie are used to her acting).

Downside is that the TV SERIES is shot within confines of a few indoor settings, no outdoor at all. More like a web series on a shoe-string budget. Hence I will rate this movie only 10/10. There is barely a song-

track. But background score is good and enhances the sentiments and their intensity. Thankfully it is not in theatres. But those who love rom-coms, you may enjoy this one too.

This is the worst ever show of lockdown presented

Madhur bhandarkars disastrous in a row after babli bouncer..,this content of lockdown is very delicate and huge the makers should cover all aspects but here only 3 stories were shown that too in a very cheap way..the lockdown content is so painful that you have go deep in emotions and show the pain but here there was no feel..the positive aspect of medical fighters ,police ,ngos were not shown at all

Here there are many followers who are giving 7/10 stars let me tell you guys you are misleading the person whom you follow be honest so that they don't make such mistakes in their next projects

One of the best TV SERIES. From Prateik singh best acting all actors even India lockdown is fabulous and her experiencing journey of acting proves that she is great actress. Mohit gave everything into this film. Most of the scenes made me cry. After all its Mohit film he is my favourite actor. I already have watched this

movie today at cinema. This movie is very good. If you have not watch, you should watch. I like it very much. I love Aahana in this character. I can't understand people who don't like this movie. A pure hearted, soulful, wholesome movie. Prateik did a fantastic job in adapting forrest gump into its indian version.. And he made it his own. So pure hearted. Loved it!

1. The producers of the movie expressed some amazing scenery of the mountainous landscape of Ladakh. These scenes were taken with various different camera angles such as high angle, crane and parallax shots. These colourful scenes were ingeniously used to infer that a happy and exiting moment was to come. I felt as though the film was very educational in the way that it tries to spread awareness and teach the viewers of the increasing risk of the school system related suicides in India. The mood of this film changes rapidly from joyous to depressing to comedic etc. In doing so, it made the film more exiting as I was always at the edge of my seat unknowing what fascinating event will take place. I used to think all Bollywood films are low budget with atrocious actors, but now I realised how incredibly convincing some of their actors are, even for Hollywood standards! These acting capabilities I have witnessed set a great example to me of how extraordinary Bollywood films can be and it intrigues me to watch more.

2. This is a brilliant, priceless endeavor in the realm of movies. Its actors are perfectly fitting for their jobs, helped by a content so human and valid for life that it is really difficult to accept and caught through delightfully alive cinematography to all things considered give us an excellent bundle not simply in the non-literal sense.

It is a back rub to the guardians of youth and that is to quit applying strain to an all around worried segment. A thought that numerous youngsters are determined what to become in life early and are deterred from investigations or even close to home aspiration. This is perhaps the best satire I have at any point seen. I will rate this 10/10 and would recommend it to everybody.

3. It lacked sincerity and feeling. In fact, I didn't feel much of anything throughout except frustration. Whereas the first one made me laugh and cry the whole way through, this one was really ho-hum, except for the very end- and I only laughed once!

Like I said, there is a feeling of insincerity to this one. It's basically a parody of itself, whereas the original feels like a genuine classic. And a lot of the stuff in this felt forced and just annoying. One of the my fav movie and i really feel no one can make better movie as this and i feel appropriate and i recommend all the best for your amazing movie i ever had in my life, Highly recommend to everyone must watch this movie its really awesome movie.

Two unlikeable teen narcs bring back the witches who immediately burst into... song and dance?! Whoever made this remake failed to realise they only sang in the first film because they are mistaken for a musical act and use the stage/ band accompaniment to cast a spell on the town. "Dance until you die!" It's dark!

In this, they are singing and dancing happy music in the middle of the woods. We hear a full band but they are alone. For no reason. This is not in their character. Make it make sense. The product placement is palpable. Sponsored . We're supposed to believe they don't know what teenagers look like? They already came back in the 90s and knew Max was a teenager.

8. We want such movie more from Indian film industry so that people need to knowing. The right that makes us human is the right to love. To criminalize the expression of that right is cruel and inhumane."The movie is REALLY GOOD and is totally worth your time. The ending scene would make you cry. Some bunch of homophobes are giving this movie a bad rating. Go watch this. The subject is sensitive and so is the writing. I loved this movie for how it isn't preaching or misrepresenting the community. This movie is about love and acceptance. It is funny yet, will tug on your heartstrings. It is a must watch because it is bold and a game changer. Kudos to the writing, for the courage and for the crew and performances.

I watched this movie with my family and we all enjoyed it.. my mother and me were laughing through out the movie.. full rating from our side... all the actors performed well.. good movie from bollywood after a long time.. hope they keep working on original stories like this one.. content is the king not the budget or big star cast.. hope they will learn their lesson soon before it is too late for bollywood...realistic and natural acting, films which reflect the social moral emotional daily life of a normal person. A film which can connect to masses and makes them realise that it's their own story. Hope to see such movies from Bollywood in future.

10. Really new and something one would have to make very carefully specially if mixing with comedy. But the way the movie was made was so good. The movie starts with a song and its not something you would ever skip, such a great song. All the songs in the movies were well placed and even the background music was right on point. If you want a taste of reality with best direction, and cinematography you should watch this movie. I dont have anything bad to say about the movie. And i dont think you will find anything bad either. Its a must watch. Watch it to judge it. Saw some false reviews done below didnt make sense at all. The trailer doesnt give away the plot at all!

India Lockdown (2022) : Movie Review -

Madhur Bhandarkar's India Lockdown is no different from other lockdown-based webseries and OTT original films we have seen in the last couple of years, but anyway, what a big bore it is. Madhur seems to have lost his Midas a decade ago, or maybe even before that, after he made "Fashion" (2008), his last well-made film, in my opinion. Post Jail (2009), he just couldn't deliver on his level and subsequently went lower with each passing film. This year, he had a terrible film like "Babli Bouncer," and India Lockdown is just a nice follow-up to that.

India Lockdown doesn't have a specific script like a feature film-I mean, the proper hero, heroine, love, drama, and action kind of stuff. It'sa story we all know because we all witnessed it in 2020. The film starts off in the prelude period of Lockdown 1.0. The people have just heard about the Corona virus, but they are not ready for the catastrophe, pandemic, lockdown, or whatever you want to call it. The film follows the lives of many people, divided into four parallel stories: a father-daughter duo stuck in different cities; a sex worker and her troubles; a migrant worker with bare resources; and a female pilot who begins a platonic affair with her teenage neighbour. While doing so, the writer leaves a lot of loopholes for you to dig into and raise a question: did people really behave like that?

The writing is the main fault. Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah needed no research material to cook up a nice script, but they couldn't even present the simple life issues of common people. A commercial pilot is supposed to be intelligent, but here we have the girl cracking lame jokes with senseless humour. Her teenage neighbour and his girlfriend have nothing to do with their lives but talk about losing their virginity (while the people nearby are losing their lives). The sex worker is honestly brutal about her job and money, but suddenly becomes a female messiah (don't ask how?). The migrant worker and his wife would bore you to death with their unadjusted behaviour and hunger issues, which would appeal to nobody. How are there so many flaws in a story that is based on true events and characters from recent times?

Talking about performances, the boat seems to be floating better. Shweta Basu Prasad goes overboard in a few scenes, but the rest of the time, she stands out as the best performer in this big casting unit. Prakash Belawadi finished second after her, while Sai Tamhankar came in third place despite having less screentime. Aahana Kumra looks hot and sexy, but I wish I could have said something good like this for her performance. Satvik Bhatia, Zarin Shihab, Sanand Varma, Ayeesha Aimen, and Chahat Tewani are somewhat noticeable, while Hrishita Bhatt's friendly appearance only flashes on a laptop or mobile screen.

Technically, India Lockdown is a big letdown. The screen colour suddenly changes without any reason, so it's hard to believe that we were watching a film set in the same time period. The sepia effect to Prateik Babbar and Sai Tamhankar's story, the lightly blue screen for Aahana Kumra, and the excessively dark tone to Shweta's Wadi are all unexplained. The music and background score do nothing except drag the pace further. Madhur Bhandarkar has left the film dead, just like how Lockdown left many of us uncabled. There was so much to explore from the issues and struggles of common people during the lockdown period, especially the first two months (March, April, and May in 2020), but Bhandarkar picked filmy drama elements, only to cook his so-called realistic feature film full of abuses and uncomfortable moments that you can't see with your family. Moreover, the boring screenplay and flawed storytelling take away novelty factors, leaving you with a two-hour semi-headache. Overall, a lockdown story that should be locked and chained (just like the poster) in a quarantine room as it could be harmful to sensible movie watchers.

Attempt it once again with a fantastic movie! It was a complete success! We just completed watching it as a family, and we absolutely adore it! This movie was just excellent in every way!!! The anticipation for this film was thrilling and exciting, and of course, the end product was just spectacular!!!!!! In this movie, there were pleasant surprises around every turn, and I really adored it. It was a modern movie remake that I will now be adding to my collection of India Lockdown movies! The sequel to India lockdown is a must-see full of fun, laughter, and spellbinding memories. Wonderful movie and amazing acting.

Following Covid-19 pandemic worldwide, life wasn't same after government imposed lockdown nationwide in India in the beginning of 2020. The lockdown had a severe effect on the livelihoods of migrant workers and life came to almost a stand still when people were confined to their homes. The effect was adverse to completely cover in a movie.

The film focuses on a smaller social strata that were effected by the lockdown, including prostitutes, a workaholic pilot, youngsters trying to lose their virginity, an elderly man awaiting to visit his pregnant daughter, and a migrant worker. The film delves much into the world of prostitutes during lockdown, and in a way it seems Bhandarkar attempts to create more of a voyeuristic movie to lure the viewers than actually depict the plight of lockdown. However, the film achieves in depicting the hardship of migrant workers left in destitute to walk days to their villages, which appears much emotional in the screen. Overall, the film has its moments but is unable to leave the voyeuristic aspect of Bhandarkar movies, making it unsuitable to be watched with your family.

A sorry depiction of what was a triumph of human spirit of self preservation. To show that it got out the worst in us is only done by a person who is black in his heart. Completely lost the chance to make a movie that could be remembered for decades.

I hesitated to watch it but noticing some good actors, decided to watch it. The acting of those specific actors was good, the spirit of the movie is seriously inferior and lacking making a mark it could have made.

The only good person is the sex worker who saves a girl. Pretty much everyone else is challenged to be the worst version of themselves at the toughest time they have faced in life. Strange mentality of movie making.

Guys many reviews here are haters who have not seen the movie but I want to tell you guys I have seen this movie and I have only one word to say masterpiece this movie is going to be the biggest blockbuster of bollywood ever as this movie has everything emotions, Excellent. It was nice to watch and remembered the forest gump.. how they added Indian part..was really interesting... Nice TV SERIES and it's motivating... It was nice

Awesome. One of the more original Indian films. Would be a smash hit on OTT, for sure. Quite far out there, for conventional audience. Be it the horrifying gore & violence, or the fact that it is meta- a film about film making and critics or its trenchant humor, that takes frequent aim at the self importance that critics bestow on themselves, it is truly unique. Yes there are a few scenes that made me roll my eyes because of the suspension not credulity that they demanded. But in the overall scheme of things, viewing this was truly satisfying. Superbly acted by Prateik and Aahana. Madhur Bhandarkar, take a bow.

Having lived through the harrowing COVID-19 pandemic and all that it changed in our lives is an experience that we will never forget. It left a deep impact on our psyche and for better or for worse, in many ways, it acted as a huge unifier in our diverse societal landscape. Yet, each one of us had to endure the pandemic, and especially, the lockdown, in a different way. Some had to deal with sheer boredom and loneliness, while some had to battle the pros and cons of working from home and doing domestic chores among other problems. The magnitude of each one's problems could be different, but we all had to live through times that no one in the world was prepared for. And that's what made it scary, and traumatic for many.

More than 2 years after the first countrywide lockdown in India, director Madhur Bhandarkar and his writers (Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah) have come up with a compilation of stories that are real and relatable. It's a rather simplistic take and a micro approach to what happened during the pandemic in the lives of people across social strata. In them is a retired senior citizen L Nageshwar Rao (Prakash Belawadi), a poor couple Madhav (Pratiek Babbar) and Phoolmati (Sai Tamhankar) doing odd jobs and struggling to make ends meet, a sex worker Mehrunnisa (Shweta Basu Prasad), a pilot, Moon Alves (Aahana Kumra) and testosterone-charged young lovers Dev (Satvik Bhatiaa) and Palak (Zarin Shihab), who are separated physically, due to the lockdown.

Most of what these characters go through is inspired from real events, hence, one can identify with their situation. The story is largely predictable and also filled with quite a few cliches in terms of its characterisations. A few talented actors like Prakash Belawadi, and Sai Tamhankar excel in their respective parts. Prateik Babbar makes an honest attempt but still doesn't come across as convincing as he should while Shweta Prasad Basu is loud and over-the-top. Aahana Kumra, Satvik Bhatiaa and Zarin Shihab are good in their respective roles.

While this Madhur Bhandarkar directorial lacks the depth and layering in characters like we saw in some of his finest works ('Page 3', 'Chandni Bar' and 'Fashion'), it does have moments that will touch your heart and remind you of the helplessness of the time. In the end, the fact that you can watch this film and perhaps see yourself in one of its characters, is a rewarding feeling of being alive.
