A lady with a hat box opens the box and throws flower petals to the right half of the screen. They whirl about and form into the words 'Good Evening'.
Obviously I was looking at the German release of this brief Italian stop-motion film. I would guess that this was originally issued in an elaborately hand-tinted print, although the copy I saw was simply tinted in brown.
It's a nicely done bit of special effects, since the animated flowers and the lady must have been shot using a masked camera lens. Fortunately, once the flowers appear, there is little need to coordinate the two halves.
