Great characters development, actions and adventures. Very engaging.
sisubalan5 June 2023
Finished total of 136 episodes, one of the best season for me - just second to sun&moon / alola region. Better improvement in animation and sound quality. Although not a fan of few filler episodes such recaps or mini stories.

The battles were significantly better especially the final battles resemble movie quality fight scene. Huge fan of the characters development especially for Go and Koharu. This season mainly focuses on Satoshi's (Ash) journey to victory in high pokemon master tournament as well as on Go's journey to meet mew and catch pokemons. The inclusion of Koharu's journey to be invested on eevee's evolution was a great addition to this season.

Huge fan of Go's adventure and his trials to reach mew. Love the idea of pokemon masters tournament, gave us few nostalgic scenes and reintroduction of few old characters. Both the intro and ending songs were cute and highly memorable. More into action and adventure. Love the adventurous part of this season - it was thrilling and very engaging.

Highly recommended.

New Series! New formula! (slight spoilers)
jschroeck9229 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
When going into this series initially, you may think you are stepping into the Galar region to explore the land the Sword & Shield have given us. Well... that's not quite the case. You are actually spending time in multiple regions. You start out actually being introduced to a new character, Goh. You find that him and Ash have found their way to each other and end up teaming up to be friends and they end up helping out the Vermilion City professor out with research by traveling around Kanto and to other regions. You really get a taste of everything. I feel this is helpful for newcomers to the series and this series definitely does lean in on that. People that grew up on Pokémon, the original series may have a harder time adjusting to this since it's not quite exactly what the show has been doing. Sun & Moon was the first to try to change things up, but it still felt familiar. Journeys almost actually feels like this may be a send off for Ash. I don't know for sure, the series isn't over yet, but that would only make sense. Don't worry, you do see the 2 of them visit Galar and all it's glory and there are some great overarching stories as well to look forward to. Newcomers, this is perfect for you. If you have been following the anime for a while now though, just be wary and give it time.

I don't like this season that much
mybr-6708829 March 2021
New pokemon season is very bad. In this season 2nd protagonist Goh is a lame character. I never hated any pokemon character than him. He is catching all the pokemon without any struggle. Then what we see in the previous season is nothing at all.

I'm just watching this series cause Ash is there. Otherwise I didn't watch this season. Without Ash the season is a trash. All will agree with me.

Fresh and interesting.
sunakaranaraka13 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Graphics: the graphic style gets better and better over time, the colors are smooth and gentle. Journeys is quite similar to S&M, I don't like Xy too much because the graphics are beautiful but too glossy.

Soundtrack: so cool and impressive, I've rewatched Ash and Goh sitting on Lugia's back countless times largely because of the music, every time the OST comes out, I get goosebumps.

Pokemon: seeing so many Pokemon in the anime is amazing. Anime is geared towards kids, so it's fun to introduce Pokemon along the way.

Pokemon and trainers: Pokemon Journeys makes me feel like not only trainers take care of pokemon but pokemon also take care of trainers, typically Raboot and Eevee.

Characters: new characters bring a whole new feeling. Goh and Chloe bring new personalities and stories.

Chloe: a cautious and straightforward (and a bit tsundere) heroine. Her development revolved around many supporting characters. She is completely different from the previous heroines.

Goh: a unique dream, a completely new goal, I'm curious if he will catch Mew first or capture all the Pokemon first, both of those things are unbelievable, following such an unlikely journey is interesting.

Relationships: they are portrayed quite closely. With Ash and Goh it was very clear in the first few episodes when they disagreed, argued, and realized the right point. With Goh and Chloe, the childhood friendship is depicted in very small but delicate details in many episodes, every time they get into trouble, they think about each other.

Stories: stories give meaning. They are very light and playful, only regret that the limited time of the episode makes them too short, so it is difficult to convey to many people.

The role of the old character: they return with completely new roles, like Gary (developing Goh), Serena (supporting Chloe), Clemont (supporting Ash).

Legendary Pokemon: it's great to be able to see them more often and understand them better, like what they can do.

There are over 100 episodes now and I swear I watched it no less than 5 times. There are too many new things for old fans to accept, I'm an old fan too but not too attached to them.

It exists

The concept of traveling to every region in one show has a LOT of potential but, this series is pretty dull.

For the most part, the only good things about it are taking screenshots of it and using it as background noise.

It's pokemon. Just enjoy.
ycdgpgj30 September 2022
First off, let's get the negatives out of the way - ash seems really dumb; Goh catches Pokémon with no battling required.

Right now for the brief review....take it at face value. It is Pokémon and for kids and it is enjoyable. We see so many new & different locations, as well as meeting some fun and likeable characters along the way. Great to see all tue Pokémon that feature - both old and new creatures.

Forget the haters and give it a go. At 20mins an episode you won't regret it. It sets the scene nicely for follow on masters series and helps add bit of context to later films.

I grew up with Pokémon blue and red, but I am really enjoying the new stuff. The battles are exciting and let's not forget the ever faithful Pikachu! An excellent travel companion for Ash.

Best Pokemon Season So Far
zenha-5642926 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Even tho its an unpopular opinion, i do believe that this has been the best pokemon has to offer anime wise.

I did not watch all the other seasons in their entirety, only caught some episodes here and there that were passing on the TV. Therefore, I think journeys has made a lot of new bold decisions with the pokemon anime, not only Ash has more knowledge about battling but also some memories from past regions he's been at, I also really appreciate the concept of having a character that mainly focus on catching pokemon, its nice because Ash never really focused on that before, and Goh, despite having hardly any trouble capturing Pokemon (probably because of the pun with his name and the mobile game Pokemon Go) is a nice character with ambitions and that doesn't need Ash to do what he wants.

The series might have started a little goofy, but let's not forget that the main target audience for this series are kids, although this series did develop a lot in terms of battle depth (abilities, natures and stats boost moves) and story depth as well, so I think it's only fair to see those changes as an upgrade and accept the anime for what it is, thr Joruney of Ash AND Go.

I hate it
ITALUKE2 November 2022
I really do, I hate it. I have the aknowledge the fact that it is a good anime in terms of story, chacacters, music, action and all, but man do I hate it. The thing I hate the most is the fact that regardless of the fact Ash has lived trough all the movies and Tv shows, he does not age one bit. In fact, he even got younger! This makes no sense! Some people say it's because he met Ho-Oh, I say it's because they want to keep him young in order for the kid to always be the protagonist. People get tired of things if they always stay the same, you have to age him up one day! I would love to see him become an adult and have to train new generations of trainers.

Giant Ad for Pokémon GO
tylertalley15 August 2021
The first 3 episodes were great overall, but episode 4 takes a turn and ultimately becomes a giant ad to get more people to play Pokémon GO. If they focused more on plot and character development, along with staying consistent with some of the previously set rules in the Pokémon world (i.e. Battling wild Pokémon before being able to catch them), it would be rated it much higher.

one of the best series of pokemon anime, and every fan of the pokemon franchise should follow this anime and everyone will like it.
goldenawards14 February 2021
One of the best series of pokemon anime, where we visited all the places where ash passed, and in addition to lots of fan servise, nostalgia the plots and scripts very well built with the main new characters like go and chloe, and very well represented the rocket team with big episodes focused on jessie and james, and also every region that ash and go visit always find new things and old friends. no doubt every fan of the pokemon franchise should follow this anime and everyone will like it.

Worst Pokemon Season
kumarmanoj-272345 August 2021
The series is fine with the thing that Ash is going to become a Pokemon master finally, but the character GOH is so hated and annoying. He just catches Pokemon by throwing pokeballs, hated this completely.. Also he is shown to be more better than Ash whos a champ, even in battles, even though goh has no experience about anything.. Also catching every kind of Pokemon as a dream kinda sucks, as because few pokemons such as suicune, celebi, and many others legendary pokemons are just not lame wild pokemons.. They are legends, protecting the world till date, they have their own task and work.. And imagine Goh catching it and throwing it in his prof's laboratory🤦.

Also goh is getting more screentime and also why the writers still make ash so dumb, he is the champion, but still writers and animators make him use thunderbolt on ground type.. and showing him so dumb that it is his first time seeing any Legendary Pokemon, Ash has almost met all Legend pokemons..

A Unique Series
sitabudal8 March 2023
I may have a bad taste but it feels different to watch journeys as it is different from many of the pokemon series where ash gets gym badges and challenges the league. And I don't see a reason to hate on Goh just because he is the one catching every pokemon, plus catching every pokemon is fun just as being a pokemon master is. With that Goh is a unique protagonist because his goal is as big as Ash. In one episode, Ash and Goh will be in Jhoto region, and next episode they will be in Kalos region, A very unique concept. One of the best pokemon series. Never got bored of watching this truly masterpiece series.

It's pretty lame
shubhamjohri-201228 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
  • New supposedly "side character" named Goh catches all Pokemon with a single Pokeball throw, throwing out years of Pokemon anime drilling into our heads "you shall not catch pokemon without weakening them in battle/bonding with them first".

  • Ash has become dumb. He's got uber strong Pokemon (probably one of the only plus points of this series), but rarely uses them or even carries them along on his adventures for God's sake. It's all a big set-up, contrived so that Goh can catch all the Pokemon and shine at the expense of Ash. The anime has to be dumbed down to make Goh's miracles work.

  • Goh catches an army of Pokemon (even hurt legendaries) and dumps them at Sakuragi lab. So much for bonding with his Pokemon.

The New Series Is A Tragedy of Errors
TheAnonymousCritic21 March 2021
The new Pokemon series brings a new and exciting story to the Pokemon anime with visually-appealing art and graphics, somewhat enjoyable music, and fitting sound effects. However, the producer's failure in balancing the spotlight between the series' two protagonists caused it to go down in flames for many of its long-time fans.

Journeys sucks look at those goofy battles. Where was XYZ and where is this trash. Just bring the mature Ash back and kick that idiot who wants to take the children's paths for Pokemon.

Worst generation in Pokemon
leaisabelbaumgartner16 June 2022
I can't stand it at all. Especially the fact that Goh wants to catch every Pokemon, even the legendary ones. This is so annoying. I'm concerned, he can catch all Pokemon, but never the legendary ones. They are taboo. Ash was also portrayed as stupid. He has known for 22 seasons that electro is weak against ground. Then in Pokemon Journey for some reason he doesn't know, and of course Goh does. He's also seen every legendary Pokemon but suddenly they're all new to him. So in my opinion this is the wordt generation ever in Pokemon.

Huge let down
aryankoundal-7322715 May 2022
The whole show is ruined by the second character goh which worses when he catched that dark legendary pokemon, whats the point of adding ash in the series when ur just gonna give all attention and legendary pokemon to that lame character goh.

SERIOUSLY A HUGE LET DOWN TO ALL OLD POKEMON FANS 😓 if ur gonna start watching pokemon, its my advice to stop just at pokemon xyz series thats the best series of pokemon according to me.

Ok I guess.
evilgnik27 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
On it's own it's ok. So we're starting from scratch again - Ash teams up with Pikachu and wants to be a pokemon master. The last season is ignored. The series is ok it's the same story so it's really a reboot. Pokemon sun and moon was much better.

Worst series to date
luckymerrit19 April 2022
Honestly, it all round sucks. Ash seems like he's becoming dumber and dumber and Goh is just annoying. These more recent series compared to Pokemon XY & Z is a joke. This doesn't really have a storyline. Ash seems to be weaker than Goh too which is weird. Ash is supposed to be the protagonist, but it feels as Goh is more of it now. I miss Ash-Greninja. Pokemon has really just gone downhill.
