After seeing the creepy Sci-Fi Horror of Nova (2019-also reviewed) I decided to continue checking the selection of shorts at Grimmfest,by going outside.
View on the film:
Making the film on her birthday as a present to herself whilst under lockdown, writer/director/ lead actress Natasha Halevi shooting the film on Super-8 Film gives the tale a enticing washed-out colour palette, with striking post-synced sound layering the eerie, disconnected atmosphere.
Directly touching on the lockdown, the screenplay by Halevi cleverly builds on the chills from the mysterious phone calls which keep repeatedly telling her to not go outside, and to stay in the isolated house, until she decides to hang up the phone and step outside.
