Dave (Joby Baker) expects his wife Linda (Julie Parrish) to throw him a surprise party for his birthday. Station employee Vinnie (Burt Taylor) offers Dave a pair of tickets to a great show, but Dave is "almost sure" he's having a surprise party that night. He mentions the tickets to Linda who is excited about them, but Vinnie's brother has already given them away. Dave thinks it's all a charade to throw him off suspicion of a surprise party. Mr. Hutton (Billy De Wolfe) calls to tell Dave that him and Larry are to broadcast a Hollywood premier that day. There's an interesting twist as the show concludes. The plot has similarities to "The Dick Van Dyke Show" episode "A Surprise Surprise Is a Surprise", written by "Good Morning, World" producer Carl Reiner. Here, Rick Mittleman once again writes a crisp, fluid script.
