Take a drive through Pontiac City
wallerworld22 February 2021
I have to say that I never saw so many mid-1960s Pontiacs in one episode of a TV series. At least they did throw in a red Studebaker Lark convertible for good measure. But, if you like Pontiacs, this is the episode for you. Overall, I like the outdoor locations in this story and Tina Cole is always a refreshing addition to any of the "My Three Sons." BTW, I once ran into Fred MacMurray in Santa Monica, CA at a Christmas tree stand, at the corner of 26th & Wilshire, around December of 1980. Those were the days!

Good Bit of Fun
sambase-3877314 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is a lively episode and a good bit of fun. Two people want to learn how to drive. Chip, the middle child, and his sister-in-law, the very fetching Katie. She's an absolute doll and when you see her running around the house in her tight blouse, shorts skirt, and big smile, things can't help but be interesting - or at least stimulating.

Katie tries to learn to drive from her husband, Robbie. Things get very heated and words are exchanged. Then Katie decides to learn from Mr. Douglass and things go much smoother.

Chip, it turns out, is quite the speed freak. He floors the gas pedal at all times, even while parking. His dad gives him a good lecture on the danger of speed and Chip agrees to slow things down.

Both Chip and Katie take the driver's license test on the same day. Katie passes with a perfect score and Chip fails. Now he's depressed. But he eventually tries again and passes. Now he can drive!

But there is trouble on the horizon. There's a big scrape on the rear quarter panel of the station wagon. Who did that?! Was it Chip? Was it Katie? They both blame each other. Uh-oh. Look out below!

Chip and Katie hug it out and everything is fine again. Then the person who actually scraped the car confesses and the mystery is solved. It's described as "$40 worth of damage". Today, it would be $500 at least.

SIDE NOTE - Everybody in this family, when they sleep at night, wears both top and bottom pajamas with the buttons buttoned all the way to the top. And they have multiple blankets on their beds. That sounds very uncomfortable to me.

Okay, that's all. Thanks for reading and have a nice day.

THE NASTY, NASTY SCRATCH. WHODUNIT?
tcchelsey29 January 2024
Another George Tibbles favorite, this one involving cars and a scratch. Ouch! This may have been inspired from an episode, a few years earlier, on the DICK VAN DYKE SHOW. Rob gets a new car and there's an ugly scratch! A fate worse than death.

This is fun, and rather original as both Chip and Katie are learning to drive. Naturally, Chip is the speed demon and Katie, the more cautious driver. But what they both have in common is that they are new to the road --and accidents can happen.

There are some classics scenes at play here, both Steve and Robbie lending advice, advice and advice. And I agree, it is sort of a Pontiac commercial, although Pontiac did sponsor the show. Yes, you have to love the sleek Le Mans convertible Katie hops in to. That was the definitive muscle car back in the day.

Then Steve's station wagon returns with a long scratch on it... So who is guilty? You will be pleasantly surprised. Look for all around character actor George N. Neise (as Roy Wells), popular in so many movies and tv shows. He was a regular on RED SKELTON and even acted with the THREE STOOGES, memorable as the villain.

Dedicated to Chip and Katie fans, and there are a lot of us. SEASON 8 EPISODE 15 remastered color.
