Strong set-up for the season finale

Warning: Spoilers
The ending left me speechless, but it turns out that some of my theories were correct, especially that the whole thing was a giant time loop. If you had told me this was the season finale halfway through the episode, I would have believed it, but knowing there is one more episode remaining, I can't help but wonder what else is in store. Given that this is all just a simulation, it's difficult to feel too sad about the deaths, primarily because we have no idea what "death" means here. It's not as sophisticated as "Dark," and it appears to be much more up-front with the mystery. Nevertheless, it's only the first season, and I haven't even made it to the finale yet, so maybe it's too soon to say anything definitive. Strong set-up for the season finale; looking forward to it.

01x07 - The Storm: 8/10 (Great)

Warning: Spoilers
1899 returns with another genuinely solid episode, this time explaining the ties between Daniel, Maura and Elliot. For a bit I truly believed that the boy was going to be a youngish interpretation of Daniel, but then that might be because I 'm looking too closely at Dark!

Though, the ideas here work well to give a sense of Westworld mixed with Dark, and 1899 has done a admirable job to keep things intriguing and to mix in answers to some of its mysteries. The idea of this being one monumental simulation that's been reiterated constantly, and tying that in with concepts of memory and belonging is a nice way of presenting this series definition.

The ending leaves things wide open for the coming chapter however, and it's anyone's guess quite how this one's going to finish now!

Never forget

Warning: Spoilers
1. Daniel and Maura are in bed 2. Olek is thrown overboard 3. The ship sinks into a hole

So it's finally revealed that this is a simulation and not actually set in 1899. I've read over many theories and I still am not 100% sure about what's going on. We have most of our remaining characters all dying, signaling the end of the simulation.

So far, the episode has shaped up to be like Daniel and Elliot, the father-son duo, trying to save Maura from some malevolent simulation and get back to their normal life. Still, I am faced with many more questions.

  • What is the point of the simulation?

  • Are the other characters also from modern times too or they just part of the simulation?

  • What brings these people together?

  • Henry said the characters being too emotional killed them. But I don't really see how they could have not died. Seems like at least in the simulation, they were destined to die even if they were not emotional.

  • What are the graphite looking things? Some sort of virus in the simulation?

It's clear at this point that there is more to the story and they won't wrap everything up in a single episode. Kinda left me high and dry but it is what it is.

End of a simulation and the start of a new one?
AvionPrince168 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So we learn way more with this episode. We have the revelations that the mysterious boy and Daniel was in fact the husband and the son of Maura. So that become pretty interesting and Maura have some new memories and learned that why she lost memories: because she didnt want to remember. And she has the key that her father looking for. Things getting pretty tense. Becausa the father have Elliott. That promise an interesting final episode and at the end of the simulation they finally see again the Prometheus and the captain too.

So everything was just a simulation for research purposes? Because of her father. But what for? Only to know more how humans acts? Why they fail? Why the emotions mislead us? What kind of simulation was it? Nothing its really explicit and we just make some theories and now lets place to the finale episode.
