It is a bit sad to see a talented actress like Felicitas Woll end up in weak cheesy romance movie for German television. "Küss dich Reich" is one of these. The music is okay, but the script is really mediocre at best. We have two journalists pretending to be somebody else when they meet, so they can write fictitious stories about the other. They want to test the male/female gender. Of course, in the process they fall in love. Both struggle with intrigues and their bosses. Lori Stern (a former musician) had nice presence for her role. Admittedly she did not have to talk or act too much.
The film is ridiculous and non-believable occasionally, like when Woll's character pretends to be a doctor or when the guy makes her randomly an instant marriage proposal. Or how much parallels the two central characters have. I mentioned these parallels earlier. The drama is over-the-top and really bad unfortunately and works not at all. The comedy works occasionally, but not frequently enough so that I could recommend it. The (extremely predictable) script is just far too weak and as gooey as its title suggests. Especially embarrassing as this was far from the first job for the writer duo here. Both are fairly experienced. Anyway, stay away from this film. Do something more useful with your 90 minutes.
