- A special bond is formed between an uncommunicative child in desperate circumstances and one of the Hammersley's young guns as Spider tries to free a child slave from an illegal fishing boat, landing himself in hot water.
- Whilst pursuing an illegal diving boat the crew retreat and leave behind a young diver in the water. The Hammersley crew rescue the young boy and the crew from the dive boat. Spider develops an attachment to the boy who turns out was sold to the illegal fishermen as he's a deaf mute. Shortly afterwards the Hammersley intercepts a mayday call from the Robsen's dive boat to the Robsens but when Mike contacts the Robsens directly they refuse help. Mike suspects they are up to no good and so orders the Hammersley to the location of the Robsen dive boat at Red Reef which only drags up bad memories for Nikki as it is where E.T. was found. On locating the dive boat they find the divers some distance from the boat caught in ghost nets, both are alive and one of them turns out to be Campbell Fulton - the man who sexually harassed Nikki previously. Campbell redeems himself slightly when he helps the crew with the deaf mute who develops 'the bends'. Matt Robsen thanks Mike for his help but Mike tells him he is reporting the Robsens to the Civilian Maritime and he aims to have their license revoked. Nikki challenges Fulton above the accident and he tells her that E.T. was the junior man on the dive and so was in charge of safety. But Nikki knows that safety was paramount to E.T. and now she suspects that E.T.'s death was not accidental.—Anonymous
- When the Hammersly approaches illegal fishers, the crew hastily flees, abandoning a boy diver without regard to his oxygen supply. After Swain rescues him, Spider patiently wins his trust. When the boat is caught, captain Jaya tells the boy is a deaf-mute called Gesang, whom he treats horribly, admitting later it's not his son but a slave, whom he offers to sell for $100 now the Australians 'spoiled' him, warning the kid isn't rescued but probably condemned to starvation. Responding to a help call from the Robsen couple's dive boat, the Hammersly finds their head diver is Campbell Fulton, who was fired from Fishery after Nicki's 'sexual harassment' complaint. Yet, he bravely volunteers to help and saves Gesang's life when caisson disease sets in belatedly, but responds to Nicki's verbal abuse by snapping. Routine suggests E.T. himself was the one who fatally neglected to apply safety measures.—KGF Vissers
